In my opinion, face-to-face interview is better than other types of communications, such as phone or on-line interview. The reason, the interviewer will see the interest of the applicants aiming for the job position title. Moreover, the applicants can express themselves easily in this kind of interview.

@Shavkat I agree. Face to face interviews shows a lot more than if it was over the phone / online.

If I have my own company, I would prefer to conduct a face-to-face interview. You can able to determine if an applicant is suitable for the job through their actions. It is nice that you had stumbled upon this discussion of mine. I also noticed that other members were not that active anymore.

@Shavkat So true! Actions do speak louder than words. And no worries. I like to go through all MyLotters discussions. So you may see me answering even more soon. I'm extremely active on here.

I prefer the face-to-face interview because this will help the interviewer to look at my eyes and know how sincere I am for applying in the job. Also, as interviewer, I can generally tell if the person applying for the job is telling the truth or not. It is easy to tell lies in the phone or other forms of "blind" communication.

I've been into different jobs in various field but if ever i will have an interview.I see to it that it should be done personally, why? It is because, in personal interview I can really express my sincerity towards having that certain job.I can let them feel the urge emotions of aiming to get the position.

My preference is to be interviewed personally, since you can express yourself easily if you are up close with the interviewer. Some companies preferred to interview the applicants through phone, especially if the applicants are in a more distant place. Basically, to lessen the possible expenses for the applicants to travel.

This is a great question to begin with. Phone interviews are flat out awkward if you ask me. You can't even see who is on the other line to begin with and I seem to give stupid answers over the phone. I never feel like my on the phone interviews have gone very well because they seem to call at the worst times! Online interviews can be very long and boring. I have found that you get a ton of repeated questions online and sometimes there is even a timer that cuts you short of finishing all the questions. Face to face is the best way to go if you are REALLY serious about getting the job. You get to meet with your potential future boss, which gives them a better idea of who you are. It also gives you lots of time to prepare because you know the time and date of the interview.

It actually depends on the type of job the person is applying, or I am applying per se. If I'm looking for someone for a job position that would require the person to talk to the phone often, be it with clients or prospects, then I'd probably need to talk to the person on the phone. On the other hand, if I'm looking for someone who needs to write a lot, then perhaps I would go for on-line/e-mail type of an interview. Lastly, if I'm looking for someone who needs to go for face-to-face interaction, then I'd probably go for the face-to-face interview. Though these days, they go for the 3. The first phase would be the application, how you write the cover letter, etc. Then comes the phone interview. Then if the prospect passes both the phone and the email interview, then I'd go for face-to-face. However, if I were the applicant. I think I would rather go for the 3 phases themselves. It would be unfair for me to go dress-up only to be rejected by the interviewer because I didn't sound right. hehehe.. That would be too much effort. I'd rather go for the email interview first, then phone. Then if they see that I sound good and write well, then that's the time for them to meet me in person. Perhaps just to let go of the biases. But of course, these types of jobs would probably be costlier if they go for the 3. Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

I prefer face-to-face interview. In this system the interviewer can have a deep observation and judge the candidate and the candidates also have the scope to express himslef more clearly.

If given a choice, I love phone or on-line interview. I love phone coz I have a nice voice that could convince them that I'm capable for the position that I'm applying for.

I totally agree with you. It is much easy to know the personality of the person you about to hire during face to face than when you are doing it online or phone.

Hmm.. Frankly speaking, I do prefer phone interviews as an initial screening for prospective candidates. I think its pretty good for IT Consulting positions as well as BPO / Voice Process positions. If one clears the phone interview, the company can then move to face-to-face interviews... I guess my point is that each interview type (phone, online or face-to-face) should be used depending upon the type of position an organization is interviewing for. Furthermore, I think all three interview types should be used to get a more complete picture of the prospective candidate...

I like face to face interviews much better, as you can see the personality of the potential employee, I agree. I really do dislike phone interviews. Even though they're more relaxed, they're not supposed to be. It's still supposed to be a formal interview, but since I'm in my house on the couch I feel like that laziness kind of shows through on the phone, and I'm not as focused as I should be.
