Dreading, and anticipating, that is me, all of the time.

Like right now. . . at the end of this week hubby has booked a vendor's spot at a huge car show.We sell waterless car wash and engine protectant. I am dreading being away from my home most of four days. I will come home at night, but when I am not at work I will be in this other town.I may or may not be able to be online. It will be hot. Yet I am also anticipating, because I can take some neat pictures of some awesome cars, and nice gardens as well. We will see some great people. I will take a book and read. No dishes or laundry to do. I will also take some crochet projects or other handwork to work on, again, nothing to distract me and freedom to do my own thing. In the heat. Away from home. With my husband. Around neat things . . . Oh, bother. I know I will have a good time when I go. Do you get this way as well? I am too old to act this way, but I still do.

Yes, I too get like this. My family and I are definitely homes and are home all the time which is exactly the way we like it but yes there are times when we have to go out and I am like you thinking oh gosh I am going to have to be hot or cold depending on the season, my dog is going to be alone for certain amount of time, etc etc. and if we are going away longer than just the afternoon than I am worried about if I have everything packed, is everything put away and turned off and I think it is not until I finally get to my destination that I can relax a little bit then when it gets closer to leaving I worry about making sure nothing is left behind and anxious to get back home. I hope you have a great time on your trip.

hi just thinking about how I had to go in to college classes in the mornings and was so worried had I shut off the burner after mu hurried breakfast. my son caught my phone call home and checked and laughed at me as all was safely turned off. I traveled about six miles to go to the U Of Calif at Irvine but loved getting my degree finally BA in English and at age 56 too. the youngsters most of them really were friendly and admired my coming back from Junior college to get My BA.

I will go home each evening, and I will not have to worry about appliances, but just the fact that I have to go. I will also get to shop in the town a little while I am there and I will be giving platelets. My last appointment got canceled because the a/c broke at the building. I am worrying about packing food in the cooler. Vendors are too expensive to buy from.

I do this at times too. It usually happens when we plan to go visit the In-laws. Most of the time I have fun when I get there. It is just the whole packing up and getting everyone ready that just wears me out. I have to practically pack the kitchen sink when I go anywhere these days. It really sucks. I have that bit of anxiety about having to do so much before we leave and then about having to unpack everything and put it away when we get home too.

It is funny, I find that posting this discussion, or maybe something else, talking it over with myself, has made me calm down. That packing thing is awful. I do try to keep an overnight bag packed with brush, shampoo, and grooming things and OTC meds.and basic makeup. It does free me up a lot.

Awww GG, just have a good time. Just anticipate that it's going to be so much fun and you have nothing else to worry about. Like you said, no dishes or laundry to do.
I guess I get a little like this too when I have to pack for something. I keep hoping it will be fun and it will be one of the best times I've had, but you never know. That's my anticipation and dread...the part where you just don't know.
Usually all is well and it works out for the best after all.

There are some particular things in this park that I want to try to get better pictures of, and I have tried the last two years. I am hoping this works out this time.

hi gardengery it shows you are very human charts what. we used to dread and yet love going to the country fair each year but when we got there and saw how many red and blue ribbons we had won of our embroidery projects and our home made jellies and
jams. then we really had fun even though it was hot out side too. This was before I met my husband to be. then we used to go to the Arizona state fair and watch the rodeo part especially That was such fun. I even won some first prizes there on my jellies and jams so even pregnant I had not lost my touch. I had just resigned my job as I was almost nine months pregnant. finally was over my morning sickness. I ate six hot dogs that day and never once was queasy. my dad was sure i would g et sick but my hubby was sure it w as because I was relaxed and not working so my food digested just fine. I did have a great time that day and it was specially a happy time for me too being with my hubby and us wondering whether we would have a boy or a girl.I did not have amniocentesis either. we just wanted to be suprised and we had a boy first. lol lol

I have known people that got sick on bland food, but could eat chili dogs and pizza just fine. Yes, that would be another thing I would anticipate and dread all at the same time, the fair.

My mom used to have to wash every stick of clothes and iron them before we went anywhere. I know sometimes I miss out on fun stuff because it just seems to hard to do, but I am letting everyone know right now that I am gonna be scarce this week.

That's a nice break for you GG. Change is a good thing. Even in my own home, I change my routine to make my life a bit more interesting. That applies to re-arranging furniture as well. Have you tried that?
Age has nothing to do with experiencing excitement and anticipation. Have a blast GG.
Away from home. With my husband. Around neat things I can imagine the two of you having a good time!

Change is a good thing. I am hoping that this park is as pretty as usual even though we have been really dry. I like to rearrange furnishings and I am going to have some recovered for my adult children. I really need to put up pictures both of the cars and of some of the things in the park.

Yes I think everyone gets that way from time to time. I think you need to just not think about the parts you're dreading and focus on the parts you are excited about.

That is really good advice actually. I feel more in control now after thinking about it and talking with friends here about it. I have food planned for the evenings when I am home and cold drinks etc. ready to take with us.

It would be better if it was not hot, but this is summer in Kansas. I finished up one project that had been laying around and I have a ton of other just waiting for me in the car. The heat was really hard on my computer today, so I may just leave it at home and concentrate on taking pictures and reading and crocheting. I enjoy the beautiful colors they paint some of these cars. The summer has been hard on the gardens there. I usually get lots of pictures in them as well

It is hot in Tennessee & we are in a drought. My front yard is burnt up & LOOKS TERRIBLE BUT THE FARMERS ARE IN A MESS. wE FINALLY GOT A SHOWER LAST NIGHT BUT AM AFRAID IT WAS NOT ENOUGH TO HELP THEM.The only good things about our weather i have saved quite abit from yard not needing mowing every week like i usually do. Guess my yardman is having it rough to ltho he does have a regular job. Hope your weekend isn't too hard on u or your computer.

I get like this when it's time for the yearly family reunion. I almost always dread it. I'm a particularly private person and during these get-togethers, it seems like everyone wants to know what I've been doing, who I've been seeing and other rigamarole. One year I just didn't go and you'd have thought I had committed a major sin! I'm still contemplating whether to attend this year's 'do' or not.

It is good the end is worth going. I think I am most concerned about the heat right now. I find that starting this discussion has really calmed my anxiety.

If I may say so,You seem to seldom leave home apart from going to your daughter's,so a part of you wanted to participate in the car show.If you ask me,it is worth your while to go there. Not to mention what you can do there such as crochet projects ,The car show is certainly a sea of heads. You may pick up with many interesting characters there and widen your horizon.I lose count of how many times I participated in sales exhibition of medicine ,when I was at work.I learnt a lot from it.May you have a good time there!

I have two part time jobs, but I do not write a whole lot about them. One of them because it involves people who have special needs and I do not want to violate their rights. I have recently started taking over making sure my older sister gets out and also gets medical care she needs. I would like to go to my Dad's and brother's house more often, and I can do that on the weekend. It is good to do something that is a change of pace. I am not very well educated about cars, but they do some amazing custom paint jobs, and I love color. I like fabrics and paint and the color in the cars really appeals to me.

I am exactly like that. I enjoy being away once I'm on the road and there, but practically go insane packing and remembering what I haven't packed yet. I usually remember something I forget to put on the list when I'm almost asleep the night before the trip. I probably would never spend the night out of town if I didn't have commitments or family to see at Christmas. WE enjoy our family and seeing close friends, but hate having to unpack and catch up on all the phone calls, faxes, and email I've missed when we get home.
This is one reason I was so glad to stop the home school vendor circuit. I enjoyed the conventions once we were set up, but spent the entire convention dreading having to tear down and load the truck again. I was really afraid of forgetting something important when I was packing to go 300 or 3,000 miles from home.

I like lists, and I think I should have a master list. I do keep an overnight bag packed, because I try to go see my dad once a month. I was afraid I would be bored, but I have enough mending and crochet to do I should be fine. I may try to see about a way to get online. I do have bad withdrawal from my computer. It is a good chance to get some interesting photos, though.
