My girlfriend just bought an oven just this last week. At my back of my mind I'm asking "what do we need that for? we don't know how to freaking bake, we should buy a microwave instead". To be able to know if its working, my boo decided to download simple bread recipe in the net. For our first made bread she choose to make a simple banana bread. We bought the ingredients needed and off we go. First we mix the melted butter with the flour in a bowl and put it in a mixer. then put eggs, baking powder , salt , sugar, vanilla extract, and mashed bananas. Then when the mixture is well done ... we put in in a bread molder and bake it in the oven for 40 mins at 175 degrees Celsius... And walla! what a beauty! Looks good for our first ever baked bread... it taste good too....

Congratulations on your first bread. You gotta remember though, when putting a banana bread together, the least amount of mixing, the better. Mix ingredients together just until all the moisture is absorbed. I like to make poppy seed bread and zucchini bread. Baking is fun and really not as much trouble as some people think. It's just a matter of paying attention and following the recipes exactly. Oh, and welcome to myLot.

Baking is so much fun! I'm glad your first attempt was a success and gave you a good introduction to baking. One of the first things I learned how to do with my oven was bake cookies then eventually cakes, brownies, muffins, breads, pies, etc. There are several places online where you can find easy baking recipes to get yourself familiar with the process... and then enjoy the rewards when it comes out of the oven! Plus, if you a bit of stress relief, there's nothing quite like a using wooden spoon on a bowl full of a thick dough. But for cooking freedom, the stove top is where it's at! Baking requires certain chemistry and the recipes have to be followed exactly, which makes it a great place to start... but when cooking on the stove top, it's throw stuff in until it tastes good then enjoy! I hope you have many more successful attempts with your shiny new oven!
