Thinking about this, I strongly believe that they are equal. But some cultures, women are inferior to man, they need to serve the man and be controlled. What do you think of this? I think this is not a humane practice.

@Shavkat Both genders are equal. I don't know why people insist on trying to figure out which one is better or claim their gender is better than the other. Both genders are capable of doing a lot. It's whether or not we can all work together is the actual issue.

I do agree that both genders are equal and that includes who are gay or lesbian. I think some countries are accepting gender equality now.

We in India have a male dominated society, but now it is changing fast.Girls have begun entering male bastions. They are doing well in education, sports, music and dance and even driving heavy vehicles.A few of them are bus drivers in parts of our country. One of them is driving a local train in Mumbai. So much so that now they are entering even army.It was because of about one millennium of Moghul rule that Hindus started considering women inferior than men.Now the situation is changing. For me,both men and women are equal.

Not only in Moghul rule , even in ancient kingdoms women were a cherished[in some families and Kingdoms] , protected lot.In ancient kingdoms women were confined to the household though they were brought up bravely. As time passed, forward thinking came in and women started getting educated.Even in my mother's times, there were a few educated women and a woman passing a tenth grade was supposed to be educated.THis is all a bygone era. Ancient agricultural civilization really caused this male domination where men did hard physical labour while women toiled in their own way but not in the fields but at home.

But it was not so in the Vedic era.It was the time when women were being treated at par with men.I have read about many great rishies who were ladies. They had composed shlokas that we can find even in the Vedas.

That is true.in the Vedic period women were treated as goddesses; in the Hindu Kingdoms they were cherished and protected by their menfolk though they had education at home. By and large there are certain forward communities where women were treated better than the rest and were educated and gained a bit of exposure. But it the system is predominantly male oriented except in places like Kerala.

In our country, men and women have equal opportunities. The women should be treated equally. We have this Gender and Development program that would set some rules on treating women and allowing them to participate in the government related issues and concerns.

This question has been a decade being debated by some intellectual scholars in our society. However the answer varied on the specific location of the person and also the time..Looking back history, women only stayed home and do all the household chores and nevere get involved in political participation. It simply means before it's true men are powerful but it's not true anymore nowadays,As we can see many women politicians that are really powerful compared to man.

There is no such thing as superior in gender, I have this advocacy that there should be no gender inequity. Women can do everything as man can do, the only difference is the physical endurance is more visible in men.

Physically, women are inferior to men. My sister had got so ill after she strived to create a computer programme that she had to rest for a month.I think we female are more fragile in our body condition. However ,mentally, we are as strong as men.We also have some momentous goals that we want to struggle for .We just need some proper time management. As to our physical weakness, I strongly disapprove that men overwhelm us. We needn't serve them or be controlled. We are not servants. On the contrary , we are so precious that men should show more consideration for us! Men and women should love, care and respect (not try to take pessession of or control ) each other! :)

Ours is a predominantly male dominated society ; this is an offshoot of our ancient culture.Times are changing and women are better educated and are in seen in all walks of life these days.THere is one important thing here.Men are considered prime bread winners and if they do not provide sufficiently for the family they are not respected by the wife, family , society etc..,WOmen have no such constraints. They are not considered inferior in educated circles and most educated women consider themselves superior to men in the current days. THere is no 'superiority' and 'inferiority' in the creation of God.He has made them in a particular way and the human race has chosen their vocation according to their inherent make-up. Women can do many things that men can do but they have one extraordinary God given boon of being mothers and nurturers. If they take this in their stride and just go with the flow, then there would be no strife whatsoever. There is always a tug in partnerships but if both men and women are mature enough to realise their strengths and go easily in life there won't be any need to 'control' or 'be controlled'. This being the case why talk of 'inhumane practice?'

I think in most countries today man and women power is equal in terms of superiority in the government or in private entities. But in part of Muslim, countries woman is powerless and not allow to have government position or in other parts women did not have the right to exercise their live freely, have good education and good jobs.

I don't think men or women are superior. I know in many cultures the male is superior- it has to be respected, the male is the boss of his wife and family. I however think when it comes to a marriage, they should both work together and make decisions together, meaning to agree. But when it comes to giving a job, or thinking who is really superior i believe no men is more superior than men, since women have the ability to do the same things male do. That's just my personal opinion, however i respect all cultures and traditions.

Most modern societies give women the recognition and respect due to them. If superiority refers to roles, each has a role to play. There are male-dominated roles and/or sectors, and there are female-dominated roles. But if we talk of abuses and maltreatment, these are definitely inhumane.

In the society i don't know who is really superior, but with the marriage there is no such thing as superior. In marriage each one has the right to demand or to rule in some cases. The men protect and provides and the mother do the budgeting and cooking and many more. They play a fair play no should act superior or else, it might actually destroy the marriage.

In the modern society, it is deemed that men and women are equal. Women have the same opportunities as their counterparts. But because of strong cultural practices in some countries, women remain submissive to men. It's not that it is inhumane as long as there is no abuse involved. It is because it is their way of life.
