I had read a news that dogs are slaughtered recently, they serve it as an exotic food. I can't imagine that eating a dog's meat. I will definitely hurl the idea of doing it. It is like engulfing your own best friend, since dog is man's best friend. The idea of doing such act is very disturbing in nature, it is really prohibited by law.

@Shavkat I eat meat. But I wouldn't try dog meat. Sounds gross.

I never dared to eat it. Some locals eat dog meat who are living in isolated areas.

Here in Canada it would be almost unheard of to eat a dog, this doesn't mean I'm placing any judgement on cultures or people who decide to do so. I find it more sickening how many animals are put in shelters and put to sleep. Maybe if these animals are being killed anyways, their meat should be sent to poor countries for people who starve.

Doggie - Going to slaughter house?
I know a lot of people who eat dog meat. In Baguio City dog meat are even sold openly like pork and chicken in the market place. But I can't really stomach eating dog's meat. It is not only among the so called dirty meats but the fact that they are men's best friend is the best reason why they shouldn't be slaughtered.,

I myself would never be able to bring myself to eating either dog meat or cat meat simply because of the fact that I've had pet dogs and cats in my life and therefore I think of them as my friends. However, I can't give people that choose to eat these kinds of meats a hard time because of the fact that I do eat meats in my life and there are other people in the world that believe that it is wrong to eat beef, pork or chicken. My thought is that it is a matter of to each his own and the decisions that I make in my life are not necessarily going to be the same as the decisions that other people make in their lives.

I don't think that it is healthy to eat dog meat, since dogs have rabies. I heard some countries lost their dog in their yard, I was thinking that some cold-hearted hunters got and sold it to those people who loves to eat dog meat. It is cruel thing to do for their pets. Imagine that you are eating stray dog's flesh without vaccinations, you are not guaranteed that is safe and clean to munch it.

Years back now there was a Chinese restaurant here in the town where I live that I frequented and there were rumors about them killing cats in their alleys and that was the meat they served. Yuck! I never believed it but I have heard that other countries do eat dog, cat and several other animals. Horrible.

It is prohibited by law- PETA I know there are people from highlands (I'm also from Baguio- but I was born and raised in the Southern part of our country) who really consider dogs as palatable and that depends on culture and customs. I have seen my relatives eating the poor animals...I cannot blame them but I cannot educate them as well -it's culture.

I never experience eating a dog meat. I never imagine that i will do such. I experience eating a frog and my tummy turns upside down. I can myself be in that position again if i was able to eat a dog meat. Good thing that eating dog meat is prohibited. Thank God. And i cant see myself eating a meat of dog esp one i treasure and give importance to

Dog is regarded as man's besr friend and most countries banned the eating of dog's meat. I think we should not eat dog. But not only dog that we should not eat. Other animals should not be eaten too as they all have lives and blood. We should not be choosing which animal we would like to ban as food and let the unchosen ones become our daily diet. This is not fair to the animals and all lives should be treated equal.

Eating dog's meat is part of the culture and tradition so some indigenous people. This is a matter of leveraging dogs and the culture of these people. But the commercial slaughtering of dogs should totally be banned. Aside from this, dog owners should be responsible to the conditions of their pets. Dogs should not be allowed to roam freely and increase in population. Most of the dogs being slaughtered come from "street poaching".

I have told my husband the same thing. However, the areas that consume dog meat, the dog is not seen as a pet rather a nuisance or their numbers or exceedingly high. Dogs aren't regarded as a pet a lot of place. Personally, I think it is shameful tat here in the US we put down so many animals every year due to "over population". That disgusts me more than someone eating an animal.

If you accept that it is okay to eat meat at all; then does the origin of that meat really matter? We do not like the idea of eating domestic animals like cats and dogs or horses in some societies. But in reality they are just meat. Nutritious, protein rich and sustain life. I have never really understood why people get so upset about this. Become a vegetarian if such things bother you.
