What Direction Should I Take?

Growing up was fun for me. I have two older sisters, 19 and 18 years older than me, so I could day that I have all the attention in the family. We are not rich but I was blessed to be provided with all the needs of a growing up kid, plus some amenities.
Professionally, I have done good enough if not exceptionally well. I am earning enough to sustain the family needs. I am contemplating on leaving my present job, not only because of financial considerations but also because of satisfaction and contentment.
I wanna work on the projects that I want and do the things I wanna do. Though I am practically breezing through with the demands of my present job, it feels so routinary and wont of challenges.
At this point in my life, do you think that I should abandon the ship and explore the islands?

You have to make sure of your steps galloper. Don't jump off the ship if you don't know where to go yet. If you are allowed to file a leave, take advantage of that privilege then you can look for that satisfaction and contentment you are looking for. If the plan doesn't work, you still have a job that would wait for you.

Hmmm, I never tried asking for a leave because my physical presence is critical to the operation of my company. Why not, tell my boss that I'll need some time to do some meditation under the bodhi tree? Maybe, she'll even think of raising the ante. I do believe miss aries1973 that your view is from the view of someone who has a full-time job. Instead of leaving the ship, why not chart its course into the direction I wanna go? Thanks!

Yes, I have a full time job in the government. In our department, we have this privilege to have a leave for not more than 6 months (not so sure about 1 year) for as long as the leave credits you earned can sustain the number of days you will not be reporting to the office. By the way from what country are you?

Besides salary, you should really consider the fulfillment your job is giving you. But taking in consideration the financial needs, you should quit your current job once you found a new one. Don't job from one job to another. That won't help your career and you will create impression from the employers. Best of luck and hope you can find a job that will satisfy you.

Sometimes, being bored in your work is one of the reason why you have to leave it. Although it really gies you enough finacially, there are still times that you are not happy already because of the routinary and not challenging job.
Perhaps, you can talk to your superior to give you a little challenge in your work so that you will not get bored.
Finding another job is also an option but you need to consider the compensation you received it that will still enough to support your family needs.

If we're going to talk about the financial aspect, it would be better to leave your current job if you're sure that another job is really waiting for you. In short, you will be able to transfer to a new work immediately or else your financial situation may be jeopardized.

Try to have some check list or decision tree, see if it is best for you to jump-off from the ship. Some people feel emptiness when it comes to a very routine job; others can continue their job, while searching for a more challenging ventures. They can do both, without jeopardizing the two world he or she had created. You can put two world at the same time.

A checklist would be of great help. Weigh the pros and cons then make a decision. Thanks!
