At first it looks simple, we're young they are aging, they are aging we are young. Life is like that whether we like it or not. But in some churches, age or generation gap sometimes causes disagreements on some part like music or styles of worship.
"We want it this way" the old members would say. And the young would do the same.
Who do you think is more open minded? the young or the aging?

I was always taught to respect, listen to the advice of people who are older than us. However, people older than us, not necessarily the correct advise. If it does, providing advice that is not true, we do not have to follow their advice, but still have to show respect.

Actually, we do not just have to respect people older than us. But, we also have to respect everyone. It's just respect people who are older than us, differ with respect to our peers, who are younger than us, or the person the same age as us.

We are living in the modern world and most of the youngsters are very much interested in the modern equipment like computers, smart phone and other devices and spending a lot of time with it. With the use of internet, we can get anything and every thing in our house. Previously we are in need to go outside for shopping, paying bills and others, but now we can do all of them using internet.
Day by day the technology is improving a lot and we are getting more and more new options with this new technology, it gives a great generation difference between our parents period to our period, surely our kids will get more modern advanced things and their generation will be more trendy than our one. Due to this generation gape some youngsters think that elders don't know about the modern things and don't give importance to the elder's words. But this kind of youngsters are wrong, elders have a lot of experience knowledge and we must hear their words.
Elders are experienced people and they learnt a lot of things from their experience. They always give suggestion and select things based on their experience, so we must follow their suggestions. There is nothing wrong in hearing elders words and their advice. We can do some moderation with their suggestion and show our creativity in their advice. We can develop the old thing as a new one with our creativity and show our talent and skills to the elders to get their appreciation. It will make the generation gape in to a creative way.

debbygirl I do not shove people into slots the old members
and the young members as they are all people and each person is'u unique. so I would say that open minded dep;ends on the person not the age at all. Not all of us old people are senile nor stupid and'not all young people are without any flaws, If there is a generaton gap it could be crossed if young and old wanted it crossed.

Age gap is not the matter. The old peoples teaches us there tradition and expect that should be followed by next generation. Today several young did not care about this. The old are never stop their suggestions because atleast one who follow their tradition they will feel happy.

The more open-minded are in the young ones. We need to admit that some old folks are so traditional, in fact, not open for changes in their lives. They are so contented of what they seen, known and learned through the years of their existence.

who is more open minded? it is the one who understands...
now the question is, who is more mature? the elders who are insisting what they want to satisfy their norm or the youth who are trying to make them realize that change is inevitable but are still respectful enough to do what they are insisting?

In my opinion, open-mindedness is not determined by age but by attitude. We are born in a certain culture and family practices that determine who we are. An open minded person no matter what age will explore possibilities outside that norm. And those who hold back to being open to possibilities maybe because of fear.
