It is just after 9:30 pm, my time. My job, for the rest of the evening

is to listen. I volunteered to work some extra shifts this week, I need money and they were open, so I am working 3- midnight tonight. Meals have been made, chores done, medications passed and showers taken. My one client "rests" a lot in his room all evening, every evening, coming out for snacks occasionally. The other one went to bed by 8:45. Did not like what was on tv. I will chart and write notes about them sometime after 11:30 pm. I am listening for seizure activity, but expect none tonight. When I leave here, one neighboring apartment will turn on an audio monitor, another will turn on a video monitor. They will check on the clients at 2 am and 4 am. I will be back by 6 am. I loaded my 3G USB stick and I will be participating, although it will be at a slow rate, til my shift is over.

You do have plenty of energies.I mean you volunteered to work some extra shifts on your own time.I wonder if you will go to work next day.I remember one of your part time work has to do with welfare institution. Are Your clients handicapped ?You seem to have a great number of modern infirmary accommodations there.

I went back to work at 6 am this morning. No extra shifts tonight. Yes, my clients are handicapped individuals, that is, one has lots of seizures, some health problems and balance issues. The other one is mentally retarded, obsessive compulsive disordered and several problems along that line. Yes, we have both nursing homes for the elderly and group homes for the mentally or physically handicapped. I work with the mentally and physically handicapped.

I do have some medical training and the company also teaches us all we need to know. I usually only work the early morning shift, which is the easiest for me. I like just working the others if I want to, because it is easier to work an extra shift than it is to worry about bills.

At your age,you shouldn't work too many extra shifts.Health comes first. You seem to sttend to them day and night there and have some knowledge of nursing.

Yes the need to myLot no matter where you are. The nice thing now is most everywhere there is WiFi or ways to connect to the internet. I know when I was on vacation last month I did not always have internet access via my phone and it was rough. Made me appreciate what times I could get on for sure.

That is always the nice thing. I have a really heavy older laptop that still works great but since it is so heavy to carry around. So now when I am traveling I find myself using my phone to access the internet or the tablet we bought a couple of months ago. But having WiFi available at so many different places anymore for free it makes it a huge plus.

I have four or five sites where I can earn a little money, and so many of my friends are here on MyLot. Many of the rest stops on the interstates now have WiFi and that is nice. I am glad I have a laptop.

It was fine, so far I have not seen this guy have any seizures. We have a protocol for when he does though.

Sounds like a very boring job indeed, but hey, a job is a job and money is money. It could always be worse. It could be something strenuous or difficult. So all in all boring is not too bad, and I'm sure you'll get used to it in no time. When I work in the drive thru I find that it's very boring because it's a lot slower there, and our drive thru is seperate from the bank so I'm there alone in a very small room. I used to feel like time just dragged there, but now I've gotten used to it and it's really not very bad at all.

No, on this job, if the guys are asleep I can read or crochet, etc... or even get on my own computer, so that is really pretty cool.

I went back to the company I worked management for. It supports adult disabled people in their homes. My "official" hours are M-F from 6 am to 9 am. I am trained on this other shift and the girl who works Tues. and Thurs. had nose surgery this week. She had her tonsils out about the time I first started and learned her lesson, she cannot just come to work immediately even if it is minor. It is pretty easy work, and while the product demo things are not going on too much, I need more hours, so I volunteered to work these. I work in the home of two older mentally and physically handicapped men. I also pass meds from time to time to two younger men in a nearby apartment.

Wow, that's a long night and than back by 6am. You lucky though that they let you work overtime cause sometimes you just need a little extra money.

I really only work part time, even with the extra shifts this week. The agency is so short staffed right now I could work tons of overtime, but that is why I quit before, only I was management then and got salary. I did need the extra money this month so I am glad to have it.

Those are rough shifts. I am not one that could do them. A few of my friends work the graveyard shift and do quite well with it.

Oh, I will not do them all the time, and I would much prefer getting off work by 10 pm. I do okay with the mornings. Our "program" is down one employee right now, then the full time person had a minor surgery yesterday. She will be back on Friday, so I took her two shifts this week. In a couple of weeks my supervisor will be on vacation and I am planning to work three of his days. In addition to my early morning shifts. I am only scheduled for about sixteen hours a week, and I can mostly pick and choose any other hours I want. This is a very easy task, provided there is no seizure on my shift, so I though I would enjoy doing that.

It's great that you can fill in the time with something productive. It makes the time fly by much faster in those quieter, late hours.

I either do the computer or I crochet or I read. It is easy work or I would not be volunteering to do it in addition to my regular shift.

I'm glad that you can participate with your stick and not so much busy only monitoring. That's why I like grave yard shift too only few jobs and it seems the clock ticking to fast.

It is good that I can do it. I loaded it for a month as I had several places that I am going that I will not have access. I am not always willing to work this shift, but we were short staffed this week so I thought I would take two shifts like that.

Wow, sounds like you have all under control. I am trying not to munch at the computer tonight. I used to never ever eat at the computer and lately I started having some nuts or cereal while working or playing before bedtime. I ate a few frozen grapes. That I think is better than carbs.

I think they may satisfy you better. I do not work this shift often, but when I do I can read or crochet, etc. I will have already done all the housework, and I will just have to chart on the company computer a little bit. I guess I could do some exercises as well as long as I did not get too noisy.

Wow! You must have so much energy. It does sound though as if you are extremely organised and this is good. Take care my friend and don't do too many hours to wear or stress yourself out. Many blessings

This particular job is no harder than being at home. It is supported living. The tough thing is making sure I do the medicines at the right time and the computerized charting. Well, we all know that I know how to use a computer. It is only a part time job. I may go for a full time position at a later date, and it will not be such extreme hours or such a variety of hours.
