Imagine that you are too late or beyond schedule time for an appointment. The last option is to break traffic rules, executing U-turn or even park your car in the street illegally. The possibility to be caught by a police officer, if it caught in action, you are trying to bribe the officer.

@Shavkat I haven't got my full driver's license yet but I doubt I would ever do anything on purpose to break the law. Especially if there was a chance on hurting myself or other drivers. If I was picked up on doing something wrong, I'd also never bribe a cop because that's not good either really.

Hi Shavkat, I always try my best not to against the traffic rules while driving. I hate to be caught as there are always traffic policemen lurking somewhere around, especially nearby to the traffic lights. They are very good in taking bribe. Bribery is so mean and I prefer to pay for the fine amount if I were that unfortunate and caught in act I'm aware that the amount of fine is pretty high if speeding on highway. So it's wise to be alert always not to drive beyond the limited speed
Happy posting

"Bribe the officer"??? Are you kidding? Not only do our officers not take bribers but we would also be arrested for offering a bribe.
I am rarely late for appointments. I have a fear of being late for anything and I am usually way too early. It's one of those things where you make a decision. You plan your time so as to be on time and you always allow a bit extra just in case you are delayed. If you don't make these choices and decisions you will be late and then will have to suffer whatever the consequences are.
One must use one's brain and THINK!

I admit I did it.
Making U-turn at NO-U-TURN area.
But I only did it during night time when there's no traffic jam or with less vehicles.
I haven't done it when I am in rush during daytime...I am afraid being caught :P

I will not break any rules just to save my time for any appointment. Because doing another mistake will not be corrected if I break another rule or mistake. So I will stick to what is happening to less the problem and stress that I am facing on that very moment.

If I was speeding,I'd be prepared for the consequences if I was pulled over..but for an appointment,I'd phone and apologise for being delayed before breaking traffic rules and driving in such a way as to cause problems for myself by driving or parking illegally ..I've seen someone using an on-ramp and doing an illegal u-turn,and been overtaken at a stop sign in the past..I'm not intentionally that reckless on the road..

U-turns? Well, since I get lost a lot, of course I make u-turns. It is not worth getting MORE lost by not making one. Just saying. If you're talking about double parking or parking in the road or where it's clearly marked NOT to, then no I don't do that.

Hi. I am of the opinion that there is no reason good enough to break the traffic rules. Other rules are okay, but on the roads, it is always good to follow the rules because a small mistake done somehwere might be the cause of accidents. So, it is better to be careful than repent later.

Well it is always better to be on time or reach a place early. i know it is very much difficult to achieve such accuracy all the time. If late then we should drive in such a way that it doesn't put ours and others life at danger.
What say?

I will speed fairly regularly, but that's about the only 'traffic rule' I ignore. I use my blinkers religiously, never change lanes under a traffic light, always come to a full stop, never run red lights... This could be why I've never gotten a traffic ticket in my life.

There have been times that I have been stopped at a traffic light late at night and there are no cars I will run the light. There have been times where I'm going the wrong way and safely will make a u-turn. There have been times that I have went beyond the speed limit to get to a place on time. There have been times that I have gotten a ticket and for most of them I am pretty good about talking my way out of a ticket. Only one ticket I was unable to convince the police officer that I didn't realize that the speed limit was 55 and I was going 65. I went to prepaid legal for that one and they were able to get me off with a technicality -- they were able to prove that the equipment that they used to pull me over had not been checked and it could have been defective. Laws after all are made to be broken. Now I didn't say that it is okay to pass me on a one lane highway and cut me off because there is a car coming the other way. Within reason. Laws are also there to protect people like wearing a seat belt does save lives and I do wear mine and make sure everyone has their seat belts on while I'm driving. However, sometimes the police just look for a reason to pull you over and that's where I draw the line. I one time had my purse in the back of my car and I was pulled over because my left signal was out if I had known that it was out I would have used my hand as a signal. I wasn't about to give the cop permission to open the back end of my car just to get my purse. They have no right to search my car and I wasn't going to give them any leaway on that one. So I took the ticket and off to court I went. We here in America do warn others if there is a state patrol ahead by flashing our headlights -- truckers do it I do it and other drivers have done it for me. We also have a radar detector which helps us detect if police are in the area. So I'm a non-conformist and independent thinker and don't always follow the rules.

I think most of you are liars!
Fact is most of us have taken to illegal U-turns, lane changes and stop-sign rolls in order to get somewhere we needed to go faster. Now, I don't think most of us would turn to parking somewhere illegally for an appointment. I mean, is it really worth the tow fine and having to take a cab all the way to the impound lot? I don't think so. And bribing an officer? That's just plain stupid. Unless you're rich and getting an ordinary fine can really mess your life up (having a warrant out for your arrest or something). I am constantly making illegal U-turns and breaking ordinary traffic laws to get places faster. It makes driving more fun, challenging, and gives life a little boost of excitement. Nothing too reckless, but geez come on people, what are we saints?

If I parked in an illegal spot I could get the wheels of my car clamped or a huge fine. Only if I with my disabled son can I park in a blue badge parking space and use his badge. If I am on my own or just with my daughter I can't use the badge. I am strict about that and know the fine is one thousand pounds if someone misuses a blue badge. I would never break traffic rules knowingly and I would never bribe a police officer. I would say sorry for arriving at the appointment late and give a good reason like heavy traffic or it taking ages to find an available parking spot.

I might drive five miles per hour over the speed limit or do a u-turn, but a draw the line at bribery. It is best to follow the rules of the road and obey traffic laws, if you don't and you hurt someone the consequences are too dire. You may end up with a ticket, traffic fine, court appearance, dropped auto insurance, lawsuit, lose of life or limb, loss of personal property, loss of driving priviledges, etc. There is so much wrong that can come out of breaking the law, I think it is a better gamble to be late than risk breaking a traffic law.

I wouldn't try a bribe it seems very insulting and disrespectful and not the way to support your local law inforcement. I would park illegally though if there is lack of paid parking available as long as I am not causing harm. Something like blocking a fire route I wouldn't do but parking over time or in a place you shouldn't isn't always that bad just another way to park. It is risky however as you can not afford to do it all the time. The city gets the payment so you are still contributing.

I'm a free spirit and sometimes I jaywalk but I usually conform when it's time to obey laws.
Even if I broke the law I wouldn't try to bribe a police officer. I would be accountable for my mistake.
