The best way to learn foreign language is study in the social which use that language you want to learn. If you will go to America. That's awsome, you will be very good in English. Every activity in America is use English. So, don't worry about that. Maybe first, you will find some difficult to speak fluently. But then, by the time ( a short time, because you got a good grade in TOEFL already), you will very OK in English. If you still scary, let's try some sofware that will improve you English skill like Rosetta Stone, Talk it in English,... Hope you good in English soon!

Learn the language religiously. It will payed off after hardships done in learning the language. I knew some people, english language is not their native tongue. But they manage to learn it by heart. I teach this language for how many years, it is worth it if my students progress to excellence.

One good way to learn a foreign language is to watch the news... News cast seem to use proper language... If you studied & passed TOEFL you should be familiar with proper English words... Watch the news & see if you can follow what the weather is in English... When you get to U.S, try to make friends & try to get into a lot of conversation... You'll see some of the words you know will have different meanings in certain social settings... You'll understand how slangs are used by having conversations with friends... But if you're studying for TOEFL & your sole purpose is to do good in test, it may not be important... Seeing that you've made this post in English, & did it well, I don't think you'll have too much problem learning it... I came to US when I was 14 from Korea & I had no idea how to speak English... I pretty much did exactly what I said above... I watched a lot of news, along with other tv programs, & tried to look for those words in my daily conversation with my friends at the time... When I made mistakes, along with friends making friendly fun of me, they corrected me on what I said wrong... That's how I got to learn English...

I learned Spanish when I was at school, and I was quite good at it. I was not able to carry on with the language past a certain level, as we didn't have the teachers who were able to do it, however it is something that I have been thinking about carrying on ever since. I have a college which is local to me that offers evening classes in language, and I have been thinking about going to join a class for a long time. I would love it if a friend would come with me, but I don't know whether I would be able to persuade any of my friends to come or not.

Although I have a knack for languages, the only foreign language I can speak and write is English. My mothertongue is Czech, which is a Slavonic language. I can say a word or two in German, and I am also able to say something in Finnish, but this language is for me a sort of challenge, as it belongs to Finno-Ugric languages which are for me the most demanding to learn.

I had studied in arabic country and must learning arabic language for my course study. My lecturer speak in Arabic and it must be difficult for me if i can not understand Arabic. For me.. know words and expert in writing foreign language can not guarantee than someone is able to speak confidently. At least you must try very hard and keen to speak in foreign language. Try split out the word in foreign language even you think it will be wrong word or sentence. Throw away your shame. Make friends from that country and make speaking practice with them.. Good luck..

Congratulations on passing TOEFL! There are quite a few people around who can speak two foreign languages, but I can only speak only one foreign language, namely, English. As to its fluency, it depends on the topic. If it so happens that it is one that is not within my knowledge, I would find it hard to say something about it. Or I can express my view of points quite well. English is a beautiful language to me. I read English news every day for the purpose of enlarging my vocabulary. Enjoy yourself learning English.

Practice is the best way to fluency! Since you are going to the U.S., I can see that it will help you a lot better. Talk only in English in as much as possible, even if you are unsure of the grammar, it would still be nice to try I am learning the Japanese language and it involves a lot of memorization It is actually not hard if I think about it but it's hard to retain the information I learned especially since I do not get to practice it
