Did You Vote Today?

Well, I can say that I didn't vote today. It wasn't because I didn't want to but I just moved and I wasn't well aware of elections that were going on around me. I guess I should have done some research, but I didn't. Did you vote today? What were some of the big elections that were going on in your area?

My husband and I voted in our local primary. There was also a sales tax vote that passed. Our primary polling place is different from where we vote in national elections, and so we had to call to find out where to go.

I didn't know it was voting day yesterday, or I would of voted. I always make sure I do my civic duty and go vote. I'm not even sure what some of the elections were for, probably our State Reps and things like that.

We had no elections in my area but there were some in my state for school levies. I always at least look through the issues and research them if I'm not familiar with them but I can understand that with everything going on you truly didn't have the time. Better not to vote at all if you're not familiar with the people or issues! Most school levies were voted down here. People just can't afford any more taxes, literally. I heard this morning that many schools were eliminating music and arts programs, physical education and not buying new books. But they did not even consider, it seems, eliminating sports--the one thing that is truly not needed for a good education stays! That's disgusting. And that's why I think parents need to rise up and demand better use of school funds. I don't know why they refuse to prioritize spending to maximize education but it seems sports programs are a sacred cow never to be touched. They'd rather most of the kids get less education than cut out football and basketball teams that only a few participate in.

What did you not vote for? We had none in my area? I keep up with votes through the site, "The League of Women Voters".

There was no elections where I live today. We had are state primary in the spring and a recall election for the govenor in June. I did vote in both elections. I will again in November when it time to vote in the president election.
