poo is better than pee, but really....

My stupid cat, Tiger, has a pooing issue. He gets in the litter box, starts to poo, runs out of there like he's scared or in pain, leaving little poo trails behind him. Occasionally, he also just goes somewhere and poos. The vet did a bunch of tests, and nothing. They also recommended kitty laxative, but he won't eat it. He poos regularly, and they look normal. I suppose I could try another vet, but seriously, what could be up with this cat? He has stomatitis and he's on meds for it, but this started before that....

he might have internal hemorrhoids.my blue used to have them, and not only did he tear out of the litterbox,he did the booty scoot boogie on the carpet trying to get relief.

What a weird animal! Kitty laxative? I'd be giving him Kaopectate I think. lol Second opinion is a good idea. Where is the cat whisperer when you need him? Is the meds he is taking for the Stomatiitis okay with him? Maybe it has something to do with the side effects from the meds.

It's not always safe to give human meds to a cat. And the problem started before he was on the stomatitis meds...

Yes I think they changed the ingredients in Kaopectate now and it isn't safe for cats. Don't give them that. I remember reading this several years ago.

My big fuzzball Eclipse also has poo problems. It's rare, but he sometimes just has diahrea all over the house. The kids told me today he went all over their bedroom. Thankfully there's no carpeting in this house except in the younger boy's bedroom. My guess is he gets into milk when the kids leave their cereal bowls on the table in the morning and that's what does it to him.

Is your cat declawed? Maybe it's as simple as changing the litter in the box. There are some that are made from paper and I just got one made from corn. If a cat has paws that are tender course litter can cause enough pain to sendthem out oaf the box. He may also need a new box, for some reason certian shapes spook a cat. These are all the ideas I can come up with.

Yes, I've tried that litter and he won't use it, and he's fine with the litter I"m using when it's for peeing.

Well, I love animals very much, and every form of living life! For this I am sorry that your kitty is not so good health. But you went to the vet, he has not really found any problems in the animal? For what I can understand, it has done all the analysis? I hope., and I wish you from all my heart, that your cat will recover in the best way. Kisses your italian friend Alessandro!

The vet didn't fine anything. I'm not sure if he checked for hemorrhoids though.

You rpoor kitty, something is definetly still wrong with him. I think something is being overlooked as far as the tests. That is not normal behaviour of running out of the litter box or possibly being in pain. Also if an animal poos outside of the litter box sometimes it is his health and maybe serious problems are happening. How old is he? Not that age matters cause some cats can get sick as kittens and not survive. If he started before the stomatitus then perhaps that was the beginning symtoms of the disease. I have never heard of it but will look it up. Try another vet and see what they say, your poor cat might have a problem that wasn't tested for yet.

I just looked it up and I thought it had to do with the stomach and it doesn't. Not sure what the pooing issues might be from though. Like I said, perhaps something is still wrong that hasn't been diagnosed. He is just reacting to something going on inside of him that you may not know about, he isn't being stupid...

Stomatitis is a mouth thing, but I was just trying to say it can't be the stomatitis meds...

It sounds like a behavioural rather than a medical issue and I would say it's in relation to being in a new place. It could be that he's not yet comfortable in the new house, the litter box is in the wrong place. Moving house is very stressful on humans so it must be similar with cats. Seek out how to reduce stress in your cat. After all, this was not happening before you moved...was it?

I would agree with you were he not acting as if he's in pain some of the time when he does it.

Would Tiger be doing this because of the all the changes that you have been going through? I know sometimes animals do things they normally don't do to to change. I rmemeber once my horse Major didn't want to eat his grain for awhile because he was moved to a different stall. It is just an idea I have. I hope things get better with tiger, soon!

Gamma our pet rooster - He was very healthy until he had what is called vent gleet and we lost him to it.
Poor Tiger. He must be suffering real bad. Yes. You need to take him to another Vet. I had a problem with my rooster. I accidently found out that he had vent gleet. With that, nothing comes out. I lost him a few days ago. He was with us for twelve years.

I called the vet, they suggested putting pumpkin in his food (because it has fiber).

Sounds like pain. Is he passing solid feces, or just fluid? From what you said about his not eating the laxative, I assume you've tried giving the laxative in food or maybe buried in chunks of something he'll gulp down, like chunks of tuna or chicken, if he prefers that.

Solid, and no, I have not tried any kind of laxative.

They say animals relate pain and a place, so maybe Tiger has been in pain in there and he thinks he has to get out of there before that same thing happens? Have you tried another box, another litter, another place? I had a vet mention seeing a cat therapist once, I laughed but she was serious. Hey if I can't go, the cat ain't going.

He must have some psychological disorder? Trying another vet might be a good idea. If there's a dog whisperer, there must be a cat whisperer too. Hope you'll find what's troubling Tiger.
