Do you make a new dish from left over food?

I love experimenting new dishes from left over food recently, I found it very practical and can save money. The taste are different, unique and also delicious if you make a new dish from left over food and also prevent the food to get wasted. I love to make some twist in left over food to make it more tasty and presentable. How about you, do you make a new dish from left over food? Have a nice day!

You just need to have a great imagination and creativity if you are using left over foods to make new dishes. I usually make new foods from left overs. For example, left over cooked pasta (without the sauce) was turned into a chicken noodle soup. Another is the left-over "giniling" (ground meat) was turned into a burner patties by just adding some ingredients. I really love cooking and experimenting is one of the best things to do to explore how much you really do in the kitchen.

With what I watched last night about malnutrition and poverty, I guess it wakes me and learn me a lesson that we should not waste foods. There are many individuals that does not eat even once in a day.

I love to cook and leftovers areinteresting as I have to imagine what to do with them that is yummy and healthy. I have to see what other ingredients I have in my pantry or fridge and then proceed. I donĀ“t throw away anything but like to change it into something else.

it may be interesting if you mentioned also the type of dish you made with the left overs-- I have explained one that we do normally. apart from that whenever rice is left over-night--next day we mix it with curd and make it interesting for people to eat -- added with oil, mustard, chillies etc.

I agree due to financial crisis we need to save money and better to make new dish from left over food than throw it. I also add some spices in every left over food and mix with some vegetables or fruits to make it more tasty. I like left over rice too because I can add some vegetables like carrots, green peas, asparagus, corn and fried pork and stir fry with olive oil. Yummy! Thank you danoluma, ravisivan and blummus for sharing!

Hello my friend Bhebelen14 Ji, Well, our younger DIL is working in MNC and 10 yrs old to join our family. Initially she was always hesitant to take ven morning/Lunch left over at night, about five yrs back my hubby had very healthy discussion and asked her if my hubby had better health at this age , She must follow his life style, as my hubby hardly gets sick. During discussion, left over food also was hilighted and today morning, She picked up some curry/Subzi left from last night dinner. She enjoys now, and we can reduce food wastage this way. At some Metros, wast food is sold and people are there to purchase and eat it. We totally deslike wasting of raw/cooked food, as long as it is healthy. May God bless You and have a great time

Hi umabharti, when I have a chicken or pork stew with soy sauce and vinegar sauce left over I used to cut the meat into small pieces and put in fresh vegetables salad. Sometime I make sandwich with left over foods with fresh vegetable too to make it more healthy and tasty. Thank you for sharing!

Hi there, My dishes are usually full of flavour and very tasty the first time round. I can't imagine changing them by adding items because I think they are good enough just the way they are. Adding stuff would spoil the taste I think and besides, it is so unnecessary. With some dishes, I make a big pot full so there are lots of left overs. These I place into various containers then into the freezer they go. I will bring them out some time later so it's like someone cooked for me and not like eating left overs at all.

I don't always make a new dish from leftovers, but it's a very smart thing to do and it makes the leftovers more interesting when you have them again. It saves time to cook a large amount of food on the weekends to have during the week so being able to change up the meals as a new dish will keep you from getting bored.

I have to admit that this is not something that I've ever done. When I cook food, most of the time we don't have leftovers, but when we do have leftovers, I will just package those leftover things up and then they will be something that we will eat for lunch on a different day. Now one thing that I have considered doing is to cook a large amount of ground beef at one time and then package them for individual dinners and it will end up saving me a lot of time in the long run.

We rarely had leaf over food beside rice. We usually cook according to number of people who eat at home. If there leaf over food its usually because we had a party like new year or family gathering. We usually just reheat it. For leaf over rice we usually made fried rice for breakfast if we want too. Or making miking it sambal, herb and beef and wrap it with banana leaf then grill it for few minute.

My mom sometimes does this. For example, whenever there is leftover rice, she cooks it into garlic rice. A lot of my siblings love garlic rice so it gets finished fast. Whenever fried chicken is not finished, she will turn it into adobo :) happy mylotting.

I don't really make a nice dish with the food that I have left over from the dinner meals. So much of the time I just eat it regularly. There are times when I try to experiment and make some new dishes but they don't turn out well. I make sure there is much time I leave the leftovers in the fridge so I doesn't get all rotten. I don't like to waste food or leftovers because foods is so expensive to buy.

I often cook enough food for two or three meals at once. For example, I will bake a large whole chicken for my roommate and myself. The first night we have the roast chicken and perhaps some stuffing or mashed potatoes and a vegetable, then the next day at lunch we may have sliced chicken sandwiches, and at dinner I might serve a chicken casserole made with more vegetables and some pasta. The third day I make stock from the bones and use the last of the meat in a pan of fried rice or to make hearty soup with the stock. As long as you have refrigeration, two or three days is not at all unreasonable. This winter, when it is cooler, I will probably make soups ahead and prepare thenm in jars in a pressure canner so if my roommate or I want a pot of soup fast, all we have to do is open a jar of homemade soup.

I loved doing it when we were at the last flat we lived. We had fridge there, so I could keep ingredients for dishes I planned to cook one week ahead. Now I am cooking things for the day and we eat them at the day when I cook them. One of my favorites was to bake a chicken and then the left overs of meat I was making into a stew next day. It was delicious.

We have a dog at home named Doggie(well, the dog has a another name but I always call her that way) and I usually give our left over food to her. But just the other night, after dining out, I decided to take home our left over food for our dog. I just ask for a small plastic bag where I put those left over rice and roast chicken and brought them home, but I forgot to give it to the dog and just remember about it the following morning when I was already preparing breakfast and the dog keeps barking. I told my husband to get the plastic bag and give the food to the dog. But when he is already handling the plastic bag, he asked for a plate and started to search the left over food for chicken meat and put them on the plate. I thought that he was just kidding but he is not. He got two chicken wings and some small parts and he actually told me to just put them over the rice to reheat them (Oh no! Are you serious?). I told him that he should have told me that he has a plan of eating those so that I have put them on separate plastic bag. But I actually did what I was told. The chicken still tastes perfect so we really liked it LOL Although it may seem gross, we have saved some money for eating left over food.
