Sharing food

I'm the type of person who does not like to share my food while I'm in the middle of eating it. If I'm completely done with whatever I'm eating then I don't mind letting someone else have it that wants some. BUt if I'm still in the middle of eating, I do not like to share. I feel bad saying no but I usually tell people they can have some when I'm done. The worst is when people will actually pick food off your plate without asking, it's something I can't stand. People at my work are vultures and whenever people have food everyone just sits around and stares or even asks for some. Since I know how annoying it is to have people ask you for food, I don't even bother asking people. But yesterday, I went to the food court on my break and got food from one of the chinese places. I brought it back to the break room and what do you know? Someone asks me for some of my chicken! It's a woman I work with and get along with and she even had her own food. She put me in a position where I couldn't say no and of course I had to give her some, even though it really annoyed me. I think the only person I can share with without getting annoyed, is my boyfriend. Even though he doesn't take food from plate I wouldn't mind if he did and I also don't mind sharing my stuff with him. But when it comes to other people, I simply can't stand to share until I'm completely done eating. It's not that I'm selfish, because I can share other things and give to other people. Lol I just don't know what it is when it comes to food though Do you like to share food while you're still in the middle of eating?

Sometimes i do sometimes i dont like that either. I just sharing with someone who will give back to me or give to someone special. if there's no special between me with someone who asking me , i'm always asking that person to buy by their self. Sometimes that's good to be sharing but if too often, it's just make us bored and mad. Eating our food actually is our personal time, so i wish there's no people asking our food in the middle of eating.

If it's someone I know or someone I'm close to, like my boyfriend, I don't mind sharing with him. But I hate it when I'm at work and people I don't really talk to that much harass me and want my food. I don't think that's right and sometimes I get really annoyed when a bunch of people at work see me eating and want a bite. If I gave everyone a bite of my food, I'd have none left for myself

I feel the same. I do not want to give anyone food off my plate 'til I'm done. Then I don't care. I think that woman was rude. I would have smiled at her and said "Nooo" very nicely. Either that or I would have told her to go buy her own. Only one time someone did something similar to that, but worse. One of the guys in my office came into my cube for something. He saw my donut on my desk. I hadn't even started to eat it yet and he picked it up and took a bite out of it then put it back. Then he said "It looked so good I couldn't resist". I threw it away. I don't know where his hands have been. And putting his mouth on my food besides. It grossed me out. I don't think there's anything wrong with the way you feel. I thought everybody felt that way.

Wow, that's really rude of your coworker to do. That's why I don't like having food at work. People think they're your best friend and want whatever food you have. I don't have a problem giving them what I don't eat but I really hate when I'm in the middle and people are asking me for some of my food. On my break at work, that's my time to eat and rest and sometimes I buy food instead of bringing it. I don't want my hard earned money to go to people i'm not close with at work because they eat all my food. Lol it's just a pet peeve of mine.

Hi Courtknee, I don't like to share food when I am eating. I don't mind sharing any food that is left on my plate after I am done eating. I hope you are doing well. Have a great weekend!

I'm the same exact way. People can have whatever is left from what I didn't eat, but don't ask me for food while I"m still eating lol. Thanks, you have a great weekend too!

When people offer me food off their plate, my automatic response is NO. I don't like getting food from anybody's plate (however delicious or enticing the food is), because I don't like it too when they get food off my plate. I can see how annoying it is when people put you on the spot like that. And it isn't something you could just say NO easily, because their quick impression is that you're selfish.

Exactly! I'm sure after this discussion that's what people are thinking about me. It's not that I'm selfish, I just don't want people taking my food. Especially at work. IF I give one person some of my food then how can I say no to everyone else that asks? I'd be left with no food for myself. It's really hard to say no when you're put on the spot. When I'm really annoyed I'll just joke around saying no and say that I'm really hungry and haven't eaten anything. I feel kind of bad, but it is my food and it shouldn't have to be my job to feed everyone around me lol

My aunt is this way as well. She HATES sharing food or drinks with anyone else. She has germ issues though so that is why she is that way. Lol. I don't mind sharing with my kids or my husband. Other people it would have to be family.

I forgot about drinks too! That's one that I don't like to do because of germs. With my boyfriend I don't mind and I don't mind that much with family either, but I really don't like it when people want to have some of my drink

I will share with my boyfriend and a couple of very close friends. I don't mind their germs, and they don't mind mine. However, their hands had better be well washed before they swoop in! Beyond that, I prefer that people keep their mitts off my food... and I shall do the same.

No problem for me. Whoever he / she is. I am happy to share. Maybe that fortune together.

I don't mind sharing, but if someone just jumps in without saying anything, I'll give him or her a dirty look and probably call the person rude. Nowadays it's rare that I'm hungry enough to eat a whole order of anything, but even then, all I ask is that the other person ask first or give me a chance to offer.

Next time if she ask you, you could tell her like this: "Why don't you get some yourself?" You can tell her to get it there or there. You can always be assertive and tell others that you don't like to share food while eating. Would you be like this in a restaurant setting when you eat with a bunch of people (if you have experience this)? Sharing food depends on different factors. I have experienced eating in a restaurant where people can try to taste one another's food. It's sharing, but it's more like taste testing and it's social too. Still, everyone finishes his or her own food for the most part. Sharing can be helpful if a portion is too much for one to consume.

I love to share food. I share food with an older lady who lives down the street from me. I take her something one day, and she suprises me the next day with something. She has made. Both being single its kinda fun to share our foods.

I really don't think about this before I read your topic:)). I think I had a problem with this. I mean the food on my plate is mine and I really don't think I liked someone who use a fork and eat in same time with me. If hate food isn't on a plate I have no problem with this. Oh. I share your opinion. Only my girlfriend could do this, but she never wants this.

Sharing my foods to others is not a problem to me even if I only have a little. It's probably because that's the culture my parents taught and brought us since then. Until now, I dont mind if others would just grab my food on the plate for as long they will ask permission from me of course.Sometimes I have the tendency to force my friends to eat with me specially if the food I',m eating is quite delicious....

Well, every one has his own living habbit. I would not mind giving some food to others while I'm eating. But when I offered some to my collegues, they always refused. I don't know the woman you work with, I feel she is just different from the persons I work with. If she did it once in a while, maybe she thinks your food is delicious and just wants to taste it. If she always does that, maybe she is a freeloader.

I usually will share food while I am in the middle of eating. The only time I usually get a little irritated is if I am eating and am really really hungry. Like thinking about that meal all day hungry. Even though I am irritated I will still share with the person who is asking though.
