Lol. My husband just said this last night. Actually we just had fish - fried, with some fish sauce YUMM!! in the fish sauce i put LEMON, chili, tomatoes and onions...yummmmmm! so love it and i put a bit of vinegar in it. I also made tangkong / kangkong salad.. ok i do not know what kangkong is in English lol but i googled it and i find out that its english name is WATER GLORYBIND or WATER SPINACH i just blanched it then put some spices and then vinegar. so total yumm! Me and hubby ate it together with the kids and then he said, this is the best meal ever. lol. i guess the combi was just right for us!

This sounds really good. I am a big fan of fish. We don't have it enough but this sounds good. I think the sauce would be good because it would be slightly tangy? That is my opinion of the ingredients but I am not sure. Spinach is very healthy for us and I love it in a salad. I am not sure what kind water spinach is but I am sure that I would enjoy it. I'm glad you could have this healthy meal with a salad too. Glad that you both enjoy it.

yes i love it i will try to attach the pics here as for the fish sauce, usually you can buy it and it is already salty in flavor..very salty but i make a variety of it, i sautee it in a hot oil with some garlic, i love garlic in it and make it a bit brown as i loev munching on it, then i would put tomatoes and onions and some chili and then put the fish sauce, i add them a bit of sugar and it now gets sweet and salty and i love it with the fish yummm!!

Oh yep I have had this kind and I enjoy it. I like the snap of it and the flavor is somewhat refreshing. It sounds like you enjoy cooking too and I find that usually makes the food more enjoyable for everyone.

That sounds delish. That meal plus lots of rice, and our good old habit of eating with bare hands. Plus the stormy weather (is it rainy in your part of the country? Been so gloomy here in MetroManila.)

Sometimes it's the simple things. Like my hubbies fave meal that I fix is simply fried spicy Italian sausage, fried with onions and garlic over season rice with boiled cabbage on the side. Nothing special, but it's his favorite and he asks for it all the time (especially when something is bothering him, I think it's like a comfort food for him now.)

It's good to finally hear that your husband is out of his "mood swings" hehehe.. I guess food is still the best way to a man's heart and you're right on there friend! hehehehe.. If you do that more often, you'd soon find yourself sweeping his heart away and no more mood swings! hehehe... Indeed a lot of good things happen when food is simple and basic. I love the combination you did there and I also had my fair share of "glory" when I steamed milkfish and put up some simple sauce. My brothers and parents also expressed their gratitude and I felt proud because the meal was so simple! Have a great Mylot experience ahead!

Jazel, although i haven't tried eating your fried fish recipe but by your way of description, i am sure it is very delicious. By the way, i haven't eat that kangkong salad yet. In fact, i never saw that recipe in my area here yet. Maybe i will try it out when have the opportunity to visit your beautiful country.

This is making me hungry at this time and it's far from dinner time! Two weeks ago I decided to prepare mashed potato with gravy for my son. He loved it so much he said it's the best meal he ever had so far! He looked so funny.

Well, just to answer your question relating to food, I can tell you that I do not "taste" the fish, or rather, every inhabitant of the "water planet". Although I am a lover of nature (and therefore I should be eating vegetable!), I really like the meat. Only cooked in a certain kind in Italy said "the shattered," Well I do not like that! Luckily my mother's kitchen rarely, maybe only on certain Sundays. For the rest, the second course, besides the pizza that I'm really mad, as I say like the meat cooked in all ways.

For this kind of weather what you prepared for your family is really one of the best meal. During rainy days this kind of food is very appropriate in our country. I agree with your hubby but I would prefer "talbos ng kamote" or camote tops instead of water spinach. :)

Hmmm that was indeed yummy and very nutritious combi meal you had. That is a simple meal which I also do enjoy a lot. Kangkong is very nutritious. I like adobong kangkong with fried fish. (This discussion makes me really hungry!) Today I cooked some fresh shellfish, and some fresh spinach with tomatoes and have grilled some white meat. I am sure my whole family would so enjoy their lunch today. Cooking for the family is my one big delight so I make sure I am giving them the healthiest and tastiest food I could ever afford. I am not giving instant food or any processed meat to my family. They are not good and actually cancerous. I make sure there is always vegetable in every meal I serve to my family. It is alright for me to take extra effort in cooking for as long as I know that what I am setting on the table would make them healthy and happy.

The Table Is Ready! - A hearty meal for the family
I actually don't know what Kangkong in English is. At least now I learn it from your discussion. I believe kangkong does taste like spinach in some ways so that we can actually substitute one to the other in our recipes. In the absence of kangkong I also do use kamote tops and my recipe still tastes just as good.

This is really nice.:) Sometimes my husband tells that to me too. It's really a good thing when you know how to cook and prepare food. They may seem simple but actually they can prove to be the BEST for our love ones. Especially since it's not just plain food preparation, it goes with a dash of care and definitely filled with love! Have a great day ahead! =)
