Try to avoid food that are smelly, like fish, and are hard to digest. Brushing after each meal is helpful. When out, carry mint candies. But mint is not that effective for long periods and can be harmful due to the presence of high levels of sugar. The natural way to avoid is to chew a little fennel seeds after eating. Its natural and controls the breath for a long time. Also in a show on The Discovery Channel, I saw them advising the use of fennel seeds or brushing. Good luck!

Nah, I didn't say that fish is hard to digest. I meant it smells. Fennel seeds you should get at any grocery or departmental store. It's also known as sauf. Good day!

Hi Amanda,
The root cause of the bad breath is mainly because of damaged or decayed teeth in our mouth. Normally if a person have good healthy tooth, the chances of having bad breath is very less. Once we get up in the morning, as usual we used to brush up with the paste and afterwards the breath air should be normal or not having so foul smell for general norms. But for those who are having such damaged/decayed teeth may be having this foul smell at all times, especially if we are not talking or keep silent for a long time, the small would be much thicker.
Again, if the teeth have holes, or broken, damaged, etc. there are chances to deposit the food particles and it will get germinated after some time and this also become a cause for the same. After every food, it is better to have cleaned our mouth. Even after having an ice ream or a chocolate also, it always advised to clean our mouth with water. Means always prefer to fresh as much as possible and this is also good habit. I have noticed that many people don't clean their mouth after meals or eating of food. Even after having a tea also, I used to clean my mouth because I feel something irritating, if I am not do it.
Though my tooth is well and fine, I am much particular that my mouth should be clan at all times. So, if the teeth having problems, visit the dental doctor and the doctor can do a good job for it as there are a lots of methods to resolve these problems.
Also, to be fresh for all the time, it is better to have a single clove or a small smashed piece of ginger in our mouth will keep our mouth clean for all the day and I used to keep the ginger piece while I am sleeping and it is my habit to keep it for the whole 24 hrs.
Have a goo day!

Bad breath can be caused by nutritional deficiencies and/or bacteria in the mouth. Do you also have inflammation in your gums?
You could visit the dentist if you haven't done that recently.
You can also consume foods, herbs and spices that kill off bacteria.
I like to snack on crystalized ginger because ginger is an herb that kills bacteria. Curry powder and cayenne can also kill off unwanted germs.
Drinking a lot of water to flush toxins is also a good idea.

Hi! Bad breath could be caused by several factors. One would be having tooth decay due to poor oral hygiene habits. I have read that the decay in a tooth contains "indole" and "skatole" which are also naturally present in a human feces. These two are the sources of tooth decay's pungent odor. Gingival problems (gingivitis, periodontitis) can also cause bad breath. Other diseases such as diabetes can also be the cause of bad breath. Persons with uncontrolled type 1 diabetes can have an 'acetone breath'. Futhermore, bad breath can also be caused by disorders in the digestive system. To cure bad breath, the first thing that needs to be done is to recognize which causes it.Recognition of the cause can only be done by medical practitioners (dentist or medical doctor). If it is a gum problem, then your dentist might do scaling and polishing and prescribe a therapeutic oral rinse. If it is caused by decay, then you have to have infected teeth treated. Well, the treatment depends on the dentist's diagnosis. If it is not dental, then you better consult a medical doctor. I hope this information helps.
