I know there are many of us who Love to listen to different types of music. Some of them could be for times we are feeling down, Happy, tired, relaxed, and then there are times we listen to certain types of things because we're feeling down and stressed and hoping somehow this can enlighten us and encourage us to move on.
For me the main thing I seem to always listen too and encourages me is Christian music. I have many different artists I tend to listen too as well. Or I will just go find a Good christian station or some on Youtube and go listen to them hoping something will encourage me and lift my spirits as well.
Being Stressed is not always a Fun place to be in. Often can be quite destroying as well, but I find if I can find things to help encourage and motivate me, in the end everything will usually be alright.

Having been diagnosed with severe depression with panic attacks I do know about stress. It is no fun! I listen to some that is on the stations on my cable. like Soundscapes. I also have a tape of Whales and birds. It is wonderful! And I like flutes and indian drums as well. All lovely music and very relaxing.

Yes, a Flute does have a relaxing tone to it. I can remember playing the Flute even myself back when I was in grade school, and my sister played it for a while as well. Listening to the sound of whales is interesting. Since we live in the Seattle area I have been able to hear them in person from time to time and it is quite interesting.

I join you with that opinion about flutes. Flute is a magical instrument with such a delicate and natural sound , reminds me the wind that whispers when being and hitting the trees and their branches...nature at its good moments.
Flute has such a beautiful sound.

Me too! When I'm stressed it's Christian music that lifts me back up. Just this afternoon I wasn't listening to music, but I was feeling down so I started singing a Christian song to myself. In just a little while my heart was lifted and I felt better.

Isn't it amazing... That is really why I feel you can never go wrong no matter who you are listening to it. It just might really help change your day.

I agree - music is a great force in influencing our emotions & mindset. Depending on the beat & the lyrics, even within the genre of Christian music, you can experience various feelings. I also find biblical teachings on the radio or a CD helpful in re-directing my attention to less stressful issues. On top of that, I get to learn something.
Tina, try not to think about the downers in your situation, but focus on different ways that would help you get out of it. Get in touch with different Christian groups for prayer & support, counselling if necessary (www.guideposts.org, for example). Especially in both our cases, the more people of faith praying, I think, the better it'll be for us. God is SO MUCH BIGGER than our troubles, and He is more than able to help.

Yes, I belong to a lot of Prayer groups and strongly agree that Prayer is an important key to anyone's day, and a belief in God for everything as well. I know what I am going thru I would not wish on anyone, and know in time it will all be over, and definately worth it all, and God is in control.

I usually listen to classic rock when I exercise. I hate to do it, and the beat of the music seems to make it easier. Music keeps my mind occupied and I am done before I know it.

I agree with you , some rock music or metal makes one feel like using his power.
I liked some songs while working at the gym , I lifted weights and the music made me feel stronger , I felt the adrenaline.

My favourite when I was in high school was the soundtrack of Joseph the Dreamer. I really loved the Christian songs there.
Nowadays I haven't really listened to one. I guess I should.

There are a lot of times for me, especially the days when it seems like things are often at their worst, that being able to take time to just relax a little, and listen to a good Christian song, and be able to Pray and think about life it helps make things a lot better.

I fully agree that music has a wonderful effect on our mental status and certainly improves most situations. I have a fairly broad taste in music and find that every now and then it helps to play some of the type of music that I listen to less often, it almost has a nostalgic effect.
My favourite genre is opera, and despite it's general lack of popularity compared to modern genres it is something that I find will encompass any situation. I cannot think of anything more relaxing than watching and listening to a complete opera on DVD, it almost seems as though you are starting a new day afterwards.

Yes music such as opera does have an interesting effect when it comes to moods and feelings. I also would think if could be considered quite relaxing when you need it to be.

I've bought a number of relaxing tapes and CD's over the years and find they can help remove stress. Few of them are Christian music though, although I do have one of Gregorian Chants which are very relaxing.
I have one of wolves singing, and another of waterfalls.

Yes, it is interesting what might help and work for one person, will often be different for someone else. I think though the best thing is finding put what seems to work for you and then remember to use these techniques as you can. When you find music that relaxes you it is essential for sure.

When I am angry, I listen to thrash rock music. Many think that all that loud noise would just keep the problem going, but I find that singing (or screaming) along with the rock music takes all the anger out of me. Like rocking out along with the music makes me too tired to be angry anymore.

Interesting way to look at things. I am not sure most of the people would look at it that way. But if it works for you in this way, then do what works.

Well, the Eagles are an awesome group, and I do enjoy listening to their songs and they will continue to always be a classic for me. Not sure if they would calm unless it was when I stressed and feeling uptight, but good to hear it works for you.

There are some very good Christian artists out there. They have really put a spin on that genre.
I think that music is an awesome way to reduce stress. Music really does have an emotion controlling element to it. I can be in the best mood ever and hear a song that makes me feel melancholy. In a sad mood, I hear certain songs that really do make me feel better.

Yes, there are a lot of positive songs out there and artists for just about any type of mood a person might be experiencing at that time. I know that many times it can be just the right words in a song that will often lift me up and make me forget at least for the moment what might be going on.

Same here....when I feel down I like listening to Martina McBride sing anyway...it says no matter what....even if someone doesn't love you back....love them anyway...sing a song even if someone doesn't listen...do it anyway! It's such a positive song!

Hello my friend KrauseHome Ji,
Well, Music as a whole plays an important roll in our life, without music there is no life. You may laugh, but during our young age , while gardening (as this is a big hobby for my hubby), my hubby used to keep transistor set in the garden, he is of the view taht plants grow better. Then we human beings. In our side there have been musicians who brought rains, who cured patients from coma, and so on. Enjoy music as per your liking.
May God bless You and have a great time

I will listen to classical music or Native American music if I am really stressed out. I love Native American music because it's the music of my mom's people and it makes me feel closer to them when I need to feel better.

Hi KrauseHome
I think that music is good for doing many things for your moods. Its a positive for lifting moods, bringing on energy, making people excited and wanting to go run or dancing.. Its always an inspiration for so many people. I like to listen to nature sounds or classical when I am feeling down, or even some up beat dancing music that just makes me want to move.

Your are spot on, KrauseHome. You must have been in a very good place last week while Elvis Week was going on; each year they play his gospel songs to celebrate his life. I am not a majoy Elvis fan but I do enjoy his gospel music; it takes me to my "good" place where everything is alright. I am uplifted by many kinds of music but find gospel especially useful to lift my spirits.

Well, I knew nothing about Elvis week and him doing Gospel music like this. It would have been good to hear this. I was not really a fan of his either, but he did have a great voice for Gospel music.

I actually have to admit that there is not a lot of Christian music that I am familiar with. However, I do find that there are some songs that I regularly hear at church that I will listen to when there are things that are going on in my life that are really bothering me.
With that said, it really doesn't tend to matter to me what music I am listening to, music in general has a way of soothing me.

Yes, my friend Christian songs can be uplifting, specially when one is in a down spirit.
I also like listening to Christian songs. My favorite is Don Moen songs, specially I Offer my Life. Usually, i like listening to them in the morning.
But during the day, whenever i am in the office, i like listening to happy tunes, specially danceable ones. Makes me energetic.
