Dogs that are silly and need training

My dog is really silly and digs in the bath even when there is nothing in there. She is such a nut case. She barks at absolutely nothing and goes mad every time the door bell rings. Do you have any silly dogs? What is your experience with them? Can you give me any advise about helping her walk properly on her lead without pulling. Also weeing on the carpet when she is over excited. How can I calm her down? She is the only dog that I have had and before her I had cats. Many thanks.

Ok, with the dog on the lead to your left side, the lead in your right hand. Take up the slack in your right hand so the lead is quite short. This leaves your left hand near to dog and free to pull on the lead. Give a firm command 'heal' and walk briskly, as the dog attempts to go in front of you, immediately turn about and walk the other way, using your left hand to guide the lead to ensure compliance. Do not look at the dog or tell it off when it goes in front just turn sharply. If the dog walks to heal immediately reward it with a small bit of food The dog may try and bite your hand or the lead, again just ignore it and keep walking. You might also try holding a small piece of food in the left hand, hovering it just by the dogs nose, though this might cause some dogs to get over excited. What is the breed of dog, male of female, who old, etc all the best urban

Yeah, i know what you feel, this dogs are sometimes silly especially when they are playing or doing something. Our dog, barks at anyone even if it is me or any member of my family. Sometimes, he's very active playing, running around and sometimes lousy, just sleeping all hours. When he see's other dogs, we will engage in fighting but not using his mouth but with his body..lol, its like his afraid to have a scar on his face.. :)

This sounds like my dog when he was a puppy, sounds like typical puppy behavior. A lot of exercise will help this situation and to help with the pulling I use a short leash and everytime he tries pulled I stop and make him sit for a few moments before we keep going. It will take a lot of patience and after the first day it might feel like you made no progress but keep up with it and you'll see results. Good luck!

What kind of dog do you have? Wew have a labrador who is very clever and easy to train, we got him since he was a puppy and it took us quick to train me to housebreaking and other commands. I actually think dogs are mostly smart and some of them is even smarter depending on what breed. I think you need to keep your commands consistant and make her do it when you say just like teaching a baby. When you don't want her to bark at nothing, tell her NO strongly. I hope you can get your dog trained eventually after practising.

Your dog definitely needs training! She seems to be a hyper dog and you don't know anything about dogs. You said she digs in the bath when there is nothing there. There is nothing there for you! But for her there must be some interesting noises under the bath floor. That's what she digs for! "She barks at absolutely nothing". Wrong again. Dogs hearing is hundreds times better than humans. When you hear nothing, she can hear strange noises that makes her bark. You have to understand a dog before asking her to do something for you. "She goes mad every time the door bell rings". That is something perfectly normal for a dog. The door bell is something that announce some new excitement and that is something dogs love. If you don't like this behavior, you have to address it. Put the leash on (this will help you gain control over her) and ask a friend to ring the door bell. When she starts barking, ask her to sit and give her a treat if she sits quiet. The leash will help you make her sit quiet. Repeat this until she waits calm when the door bell rings.

I am not a dog trainer by far but we had a dog a few years ago that was so hyper and so crazy! The trainer we called told us he was too bored and needed to get his energy out. We had to walk him twice a day. He did not walk well on a leash at first either. She told us to hold the dog very tight on the leash, close to us and if he started pulling stop and make him sit. Once he calmed down for a minute try again. I thought it sounded crazy but he did start to listen while on the leash. She said most of his problem was from not getting his energy out and that we needed to get him fixed and he would calm down more. We did get him fixed and it did calm him down more. The peeing in the house he did not do so I am not sure on that one. Sorry, wish I could have been more help to you!

Your dog sounds like an animated creature. Its nice to have a companion who can make you laugh or wonder what its doing! My brother has this lil dog who will jump up on the couch or on a bed... and for some reason he will put his toy under the pillow and he will dig on the pillow! And then he'll peek for his toy and dig some more! It is so funny but he is so adorable! Another thing he does is he will rub up against a glade plugin and then roll around on the carpet. I don't know I think he likes to smell good lol!
