Chelsea started their campaign with a good result today. It wasn't a thumping but a solid 2 goal win which gets their campaign going. What do you guys think of their chances at the EPL this year after last years great Champions League?

Yes Chelsea started the season with a good result after the two early games they managed to win both and melesatkan 6 goals. I think the chances of Chelsea in the EPL this season is wide open, let alone look at the composition of Chelsea's season is very classy and populated by young players berpengalan. I think the chances are wide open.

It's too early to judge how Chelsea will fare this season. I don't want to use the game against Wigan to assess the team. Wigan is a team that has never made it to the top half of the table. In fact the team usually end in the bottom third of the table. Should we use Chelsea's performance against a team such as Wigan to say Chelsea have arrived? I beg to differ.
For me, Chelsea got the job done which is the most important thing. There are still thirty-seven matches left to play. Chelsea haven't played against any of the tough teams that we all know. Can we cast our mind back to what happened to Chelsea last season? We should all wait till November or December before predicting anything about Chelsea or any other team. In conclusion, I think Chelsea's performance against Wigan wasn't superlative enough. That's my personal opinion.

I agree, they got the pitch time and points and that is all that matters as you got to win the easier games if you are to stand a chance at the league.

Since Roman Abramovich took over, I started hating Chelsea, in fact I consider the team more like FC Roman Abramovich and I consider Chelsea for being a non-existent team. And after the way they won the Champions League last season, against my favorite team, made this hatred even greater.
As for the way they started, it is always good to start with a win, but I don't consider them favorites to win the title in England. There are other teams which play a more consistent football, who are capable of winning because they want to win, not because they destroy other team's football and have lots of luck. Of course, if they would have played an attacking football against Barcelona and Bayern, they wouldn't have a chance to win, but if every team would play that kind of football, football wouldn't be an enjoyable game.

Manchester United is owned by an American who never played soccer.....

Your comment is based purely in hatred. Lacking facts and well if Man United's start is anything to go after.... Do you hate City? PSG(another Middle Easterner bought it) or even Man U listed on the US stock market?
Chelsea has beaten Barcelona many times and the fact is they beat teams that beat your "favorites." One thing I remember from many years ago they got me mad was Lampard once walked into a corner to wind down the clock. That is something I can't stand.

No, it is not based only on hatred. Even if Chelsea wouldn't be owned by a wealthy person, the way they played in the two semi-finals and in the final was not worthy of a Champions League winner. But this doesn't change the fact that they are the ones who lifted the trophy and in football that is the most important thing.
And yes, I cannot stand teams that are not self-made, who suddenly became strong, just because they have gotten money from the sky. I certainly hope the financial fair play will be strictly implemented and then we will see a major downfall of these artificial teams, like Chelsea, City, PSG and many other teams which are not capable of being strong by themselves. I cannot see how the fans are still there for the team, when it is not their team anymore, but the private property of a single person, who doesn't even come from their rows.

Today's was a good result, but I think that without Drogba they will not challenge for the greatest honours. The EPL will be between the two Manchester clubs I think and Chelsea and Arsenal will fight it out for 3rd and 4th spot.

I respectfully disagree. Do you know how old Drogba was? His attitude while at Chelsea?

Was? You talk like he doesn't exist anymore.
Yes he is past his prime, but always played well and with a good attitude whilst at Chelsea. He is one of their all-time top scorers and won them the European Championship last year. Who could possibly replace him?

Was there a problem with Droba's attitude while in Chelsea? I thought he was one of the model professional footballers in EPL. While he is certainly not young, with the performance he showed last season, he would still be a very useful asset to Chelsea.

Hi, even though they were not too good in the previous league they won the Champions League. So, I we can't avoid them from the chance list. They have some good players and they can be very dangerous. Anyway let us hope for the best .

Interesting start to the season with United losing but there are many games to go and I am sure many shockers as well.

I was actually impressed by Chelsea. Of course, they were playing against Wigan who are a notoriously up and down team. But Chelsea looked very focused and killed the game in the first half. They could have had more goals if they had chased them vigorously. But a solid win to start of the season is something which they will take pretty happily.
Cheers!

Yip, it also helps with confidence and allows the coach to try out a few matches and players when you start off well but as always, it is really early on and a lot will happen.

It's early to predict where Chelsea is going. and it's also hard to judge a team only by a match. I sense that there is not much chance for Chelsea to win EPL. The two club come from Mancheser will stiil be the arch river.

You are contradicting yourself and not backing it up with logic. Care to explain your reason. City played really bad for their 1st game if you ask me. United haven't even taken the pitch....

Am I wrong in the logic? Compare with the Manchester united, Chelsea's performance is not stable. They can easily lose to any team fighting against relegation while playing many gorgeous games. and Man city lineup now have some of the world's top football talent, moreover winned the champion in the last season give them confidence and belief. It certainly looks like this season is alread shaping up very nicely, with Chelsea, Man city and Man unit all play strongly.
