I will find it a little odd to take photos with iPad or tablet in public. Especially when they use it to take photos as well as the digital camera. As the iPad or tablet is bigger and holding it to take photos seems to be silly in my opinion

At least I will not do it so often. I still prefer to use the digital camera or even the cellphone.

Yes, I still prefer the camera, too. The phone, only in case a camera is not around and I really have to take the picture of something. My phone camera is only 2MB and so it does not take good pictures, as satisfying as would a camera. But, it comes in very handy when I want to upload the photo immediately.

I think it is okay for friends and family members and people we know to take our photos.

I have a feeling that those people are only showing off what gadgets they own. HAhahaha! Sorry but its kinda inconvenient for me seeing them doing that.

Youless, i ever seen a few tourist and even some local people who takes photo using their tablet. For me it seems weird and of course funny to take photo using that huge item. Maybe some people really have weird preference of their way of taking the photo. I prefer to take photo using my digital camera. For me, it is convenient to bring around and not heavy at all.

Perhaps they want others to know how "updated" they are to use an iPad or tablet to take photos

Yup, some people just like to show off their new gadget. For me, i still prefer to take photo using my old digital camera. It is the best and easy way for me to take photo for remember.

I find it odd, because frankly, it’s a tablet computer and it should be used for browsing not for photographs. Though they have a camera feature, such camera should be used not to take sceneries but rather for online chatting or video call and not as a standard camera. Regardless if it’s a tablet, smartphone, or a laptop I don’t use such camera features as a standard camera because I do own a digital camera which is really intended in that purpose.

I have noticed that many young people seem to be using the tablets and phones to take pictures and record video. To me it seems that they are forgetting what photography is all about - recording and preserving a moment in time for the future. They take photos today and tomorrow they will record over them. There are time when I don't think they even know what they were recording.

I do not like people taking photos in the tablet or iPad or mobile without consent. I think I would get irritated most probably if someone take photos especially strangers.

I saw lots of these last weekend when 2 mylotters and 4 of their friends came here in my town. We have a zoo trip and I saw also lots of people who are using a tablet while taking pictures. I also have my Tab with me but I don't think it is appropriate to use Tab. taking pictures knowing there is so many people around and we are at the zoo.

what in god's name is that thing... oh an ipad. yeah that's always my impression when i see someone waving that huge thing that covers my visuals. look people if you want true photographs please grab a camera. a dslr would be wonderful but a digital cam will do. one is that you won't block other people's visuals when you photograph. two you don't look like a fool. ipads are not really design for photography but rather a ultra mobile device that you can use for organizing, writing, games as long as it's not for photography stick matter. they say they have 5mp camera but i have no idea what sensor they are using. i have no idea if it has fast lens (good in low light conditions). the iso i am sure is not indicated. and most of all what is the lens' optics? who the h#$l is iSight camera... what ever it means.

I take photos and videos with my Ipad I do not have a handy digital camera but I have a dslr that it too bulky I leave it at home. Now, I have a toddler and I can't help but take pictures of her all the time. I often take out my Ipad in public to take pictures of her. My husband laughs at me because I used to laugh at people taking pictures with a tablet

But I think using a DSLR to take photos is still much more convenient than an iPad

I also find it a bit odd when I see people taking photos using their tablet. It looks like they are using their netbook in taking photos since it is almost as big. Just wonder if the owner feels the same.

I personally own an iPad and I find it hard to use to take pictures when I'm outside, much less use it to take a photo of myself lol! I only use it when I have to take pictures of inanimate objects for file or for sharing. Its just too big to use for outside picture taking and too hard to maneuver for the right angle.

That's what i think, too. Really hard to get the right angle while taking photo using them. But seems some people just like to use them for taking photo...Maybe they didn't have any good camera...

I agree on that, a person who execute this is being showy to the public. Self-centered in some point, too arrogant type of person. Craving for a crowd attention, so silly.
