Sometimes one of my ear lubes piercings gets infected. It's odd as it happens and yet I am not even wearing earrings. I don't really understand it, but it does go away fairly quickly.
I won't go into any further details as I know to some it's disgusting. It's just odd to me that it happens even when I am not wearing any earrings.
Has this happened to you?

This happens to me as well just on the one ear 9strange). I had my cartlidge peirced a few years back, and I ended up having to take it out as it got infected then grew over. I have 3 holes on the bottom of each ear, and even if I have or not have earrings in it gets itchy, and infected sometimes more during the winter months.

Mine weren't professionally done so I was wondering if that was part of it. It's like sometimes it gets a "bump" and you press on it, the gunk from the infection stuff comes out.
I know sometimes it's the type of earrings, my cousin can't wear anything too cheap her fingers, ears, get infected.

I had gotten them done, let them grow back and got them redone but it's been years. I think, let's say 05 or 06 when I had them done last. It only seems to be my right ear that this ever happens to also.

I don't really know that this is the case, but I do tend to think that the reason that we are able to get infections in the holes in our ears when we are not wearing earrings is because of the fact that those holes in our ears are the perfect breeding place for bacteria. Think about it for just a second, first of all, they are holes and inside of them is warm and damp, that is exactly where we are taught that bacteria like to breed when we are taking high school biology classes.

Very true, after rinsing my haior I bet some of the water still is on my ears as sometimes I will not dry my hair completely before going to work, just put it up and there ya go.
I hardly ever get an infection and like I said it's always easy to get rid of.

Well, for many people they often have areas on their skin, and many times where their ears have been pierced that are quite sensitive to everything. I know for me due to being Diabetic my skin is very sensitive so infections are common. I wonder if yours could be from not wearing earrings all the time that does this?

Well I hadn't put any earrings in for quite some time, so I'm not quite sure. I mean it does it when I do have earrings in for awhile after not having them in at all for a long time. This time it was just that it happened and I hadn't worn earrings at all previously.
Oh well it's better now and really all I had to do was clean it and the "pous" was gone.

I dont have my earring holes get infected but a lot of times I will get pimples or cysts in my ears. They can hurt pretty badly. If I get them then I dont put earrings in as I think it would just irritate my ear holes worse. I have two ear piercings in my ears so if one hole bothers me I can put it in the other one.

I have two in each ear myself, they were done by a friend and way too close together. I used to wear hoops to stretch the one whole down. I don't wear earrings much or at all because they get irritated and infected. Sometimes it still gets "infected" or "pous" in it when I've not worn earrings in months.
Could you be allergic to a certain type of jewelry?

It also happens before when I am wearing some fancy earrings. But I know some friends who also wear similar kind of earrings but they don't get infected. They told me I am drinking too much coke so as per advise, I stopped drinking that kind of drink, now I can wear anything. But if said that you are not wearing anything maybe you should consult a dermatologist to address your problem.

If it stayed for too long and dragged my ear lobe down I might worry about consulting a dermatologist, but it doesn't do either of those. It could be contributed to my diet, who is to say? Or it could be as another mentioned, water building up in the piercing.
So many different reasons, Coca Cola is definitely not healthy so I bet it helped in more ways then you could imagine (I've stopped drinking soda before, saw such a drastically good difference).

Yes, this does sound odd to me. I have 7 piercings in my ears and none of them get EVER get infected when I'm not wearing earrings, but if I'm WEARING earrings, well, then that is a different story.
I have to wear really good earrings, because the fake ones don't do it for me. If I DO wear some cheap earrings and my piercings get infected, usually witch hazel will clear it up in a couple of days.

I use peroxide. If the infection is bad I take the earrings out (though I usually don't wear them for days or anything). It's odd that I've not worn earrings in forever and this has happened but I'm not really worried about it as it cleared up really easily.

Well, nope sure do not seem to have that problem. Maybe for you your ears are sensitive and because of that it causes problems with where it has first been punctured into.
On a side note I am so mad right now, fries no more. I'll message you about it.

I don't hardly ever wear earrings but my piercings are "over lapped" so to speak, so that could be it? It's been awhile since they were pierced (years) and months, maybe a year since I've worn earrings.
I saw and responded to the message by the way.

I've not worn earrings in month, and didn't put any in last night when i discovered the mini infection either...
Though I know the cheaper the jewelry, the more likely it's to cause troubles, infection, swelling..

Am a guy and I don't wear ear rings neither do I have piercings at any other part of my body, but I can give you some advice, ensure you buy genuine jewelries and also see a doctor concerning this little issue you are having.
I bet one or two visits to the doctor's office would do the trick.

Well I've not worn earrings in awhile and no matter the kind, it doesn't bother my ears all that much. I'm not going to visit a doctor over something as trifle as this either, but thanks all the same.
