http://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/scifi/blakes-7-reboot-finds-home-syfy.html Looks like cult 70's series Blakes 7 is up for a reboot... So,while "Firefly" fans are getting used to the idea of the 10th anniversary of it's (Cancelled!) short run, a 34 year old show that Firefly has been compared to gets a reboot?! I remember watching this show (it was before VCR's,never mind the internet!)so I wonder are they going with "New" Dr Who production levels (B7 was also a '70's BBC show, with DW like production Values,or are they going Hollywood on it? Part of the charm of the original was recalling the Female Baddie Lead "Servalan" running around an alien planet (Quarry!) in evening dress and heels ..She may have had a raygun at the time.. So... Are you a fan of the original,(or are you old enough to remember the original?)or do you like reboots of classic old shows?

I have a number of friends who are Blake fans, but it never showed in Austin and I never got into it.

You'd think if they were trying to raise some interest in a reboot that they might get the original episodes repeating beforehand...

If they're getting bored because the shows are all flash and no substance,it's good to see that they'd be checking out the storywriting of the original shows that made them popular in the first place..

On the other hand, kids these days seem to look at the effects and quickly get bored with the shows, its only AFTER they've gotten into Doctor Who that they are going back and discovering the earlier stuff.

I remember Blakes 7 as a kid and i remember how bad it was with the old cardboard walls and polysterene rocks. i was a massive startrek fan back then and was slightly embarressed by the cheap special effects the BBC employed. Servalan confused me as a young adolecent, why was this bad person turning me on? A remake could be a lot of fun but the scripts would need to be good and money spent on the production values, an HBO/BBC collaberation sounds a good idea. Next....Space 1999!

You say Next....Space 1999, well how about Space 2099, which I believe is in the works as an updated Space 1999. Now if they would only bring back the series UFO.

And Who would you want as Servalan in the reboot? It's a little disheartening to realise how far in the past the "future" dates of those shows are now..UFO was set in 1980,IIRC.. Gerry Anderson's Shows were all about the cool vehicles,to cut down on the amount of "walking" the characters did,(at least the puppet shows..)the human ones had advantages too...

I haven't watched the show.It is said that it is a British science fiction Tv series broadcasted between 1978 and 1981.I wonder if the statue of Firefly in your avatar is the very Firefly mentioned in this discussion.

If you know the "Firefly/Serenity" TV show/Movie,an Episode called "Jaynestown" has the "Jayne" character in a robbery there before, and was wary of returning, but finds he's actually a folk Hero because of it.... Another Character,"Wash",astounded at this, remarks "We've Got to go to the crappy town where I'M a Hero!" Firefly Fans in "Second Life" Built that town..I visited it with My avatar in that picture!

To my shame,I know nothing about what you said.I was old enough to watch them then, but I doubt if they were imported here at that time.
