My friend use to stutter every time she talks and gets angry to herself. She kept on asking why the words does not come easily from her mouth. Most of the time, I will tell her, "Because you won't allow your brain to work first," Was I right in commenting on her like that? What are the solutions or suggestions to minimize her stuttering?

I used to studder a little when I was young. Why? Because I was extremely shy and when in certain situations I would get so nervous. I got help in school with my speech and self-esteem and never studdred again. Your friend needs to calm so she can think and speak correctly. Help her to calm herself. Breathing and calming techiniques will help. Yoga might be a good thing.

Nah you are totally right, celticeagle! When I got nervous I always stutter - that's why I try to not get nervous anymore. People get nervose maybe because of they lie - or not confident - or maybe it's just about health problem . And I ever heard that stuttering maybe because of the dissorder of the nerves - than if it is a dissorder you should go to doctor

The doctor may be able to give you something to calm you down so you don't feel so nervous. But if won't help you in the long run. You need to make yourself go into social situations and the more experience you have the better you will get. And maybe form what you are going to say in your head before you speak. That might help too.

The stuttering of a person is not influence by brain functions. It can be a short tongue or not opening the mouth in enunciating the words. Try to consult a speech therapist for that.

There are many factors that we can relate to her condition. It could be that she has problems with nerves that there is not proper coordination between her brain and her mouth that this happens. Also, there is also confidence that she lacks. This can be solved easily by boosting her self confidence and sometimes the stuttering can be stopped. But if it is something neurological it is hard to really cure such problems.

i stutter too. this usually happens when my brain works too fast that my mouth can't keep up with the ideas that comes to my mind. whenever this happens i just want to keep quiet and try to organize everything i want to say in my mind before i say it.

I stutter at times when I get upset. When I have something to say and can't get it across I usually stutter with the frustration of not getting it across right. I developed this as a teen being in an abusive home and not being able to speak. I still do it but feel my tongue twisting when I try to say something. I remind my self to breathe or relax. I guess you could say my brain hasn't got the message to my tongue yet and I get tongue tied and stutter. I say I. Was okay to say it but a tiny but offensive to someone sensitive of it. I would've said relax don't let yourself get tongue tied. Happy MyLotting!
