Sorry if I'm asking this but we have a convert returning neighbor from the middle east. His Family and I witnessed how he prayed and I was surprised to see him sit on his twisted left ankle and stiff his other foot on his side! When I pray, I use my own vernacular, kneel down, clasp by hands facing heaven. My mind, spirit and everything internally pray and talk to God, genuinely. 1 Corinthians 14:13 tells it. You may want to share on this topic? Thanks in advance!

Yes, for ordinary pray we could use any methods, positions and language. Also in Islam. But for sholat (the primary pray) it will using one method, position and language in whole world.

I sometime stand up or sit on my bed and pray with my eyes close. It all really depend on the place and situation I am in . If I am around my friends are strangers I would pray in my mind.

it actually depends where i am praying. usually i am praying while sitting down. honestly though i have prayed a couple of times while in bed with my eyes shut... before sleeping or just after waking up. as for the language, i am comfortable praying with my language spoken... usually combined tagalog and english as i pray. i find it easier to pray when i am able to express myself. i do not try to be formal but i try to be like how i am when i am talking to my parents, i treat God as my father who is forever caring and understanding and would listen to me.

I don't need to treat God because He is God.

hello brother, It's been a long time... Well, regarding your topic, what language do I use? I use our mother tongue and position when praying? -well that depends where I am praying. I mean, we can always say a prayer even inside the vehicle. Just closing our eyes and say a prayer silently- but heartily. Glad ro see you

I got a Job in Baguio and this past days was so hectic, too, Sis. I apologize for not showing up often here much with the topics that I have missed out. I hope I can cope up but nothing is better now that I am found, lol, but still, I think I am lost in this moment as I'm having a hard time with my older topics that are already lost from my memory. I have to start re-reading them once and reply those comments that have been lying there so long, lol. Well, being an RC myself, it was just out from my curiosity why he needed to recite his prayers using a language that I wasn't even sure he understood.

We don't need to have a specific position to be heard by God. So long as it is in a respectful way, it's just fine. Whether is loud, silent, kneel down, standing, head face up or face down - it all doesn't matter. The bible mention different servant of God who prayed in different way. What is more important are the thoughts and motives in your heart. Of course different countries have varying culture or normal way of praying. Your visitor may have different way of praying too.

We don't need to have a specific language to be heard by God. Yeah I agree but I was just being alienated by the words that came out from his mouth which I wasn't sure he understood.

All that matters to God when you pray is your inner pose: Realize that you are nothing but strangely formed mud without God's spirit, thank Him for giving you of His spirit, and trust that He lets you continue to use it to His glory as you are His child.

Hi, While praying I use my mother tongue Marathi. I pray with Namaskara to God. Namaskara means getting to hands together and stand in front of God and pray.
