A vaccinated cat is no more a carrier of disease tab any other domesticated animal. Some Cat's feces may pose a problem for some people, though. Cat fur is no more a danger to people than the fur (hair) of any other animal. However, The dander from a cat's skin can cause problems for those allergic to it. My children grew up with cats and were healthy . Their cats were great companions for them.

Umm .. yes - cats are carriers of some diseases .
They only be able to be carriers if only they consume the cause of diseases such as rat/mouse.
The disease could affect to women - they couldn't get pregnant or even they would have a hydrocephali child.
The vaccination wouldn't stop spreading of the disease if the cat still consumes mouse.
So it is important to keep an eye on your cat,Indah :)
I never let my cats hungry or hunting outside the house - and whenever they are caught hunting the mouse I will put them in their cage or I will try to play with them so they won't hunt again.
Have a wonderful day ;)

Then you shouldn't be worry about the disease - since I know you have had children too .
It must be annoying to see someone scolding her children in fornt of you just because of common sense that unprovable

Do you take good care of your cat? Even though cats do wash themselves, sometime a bath once in a while doesn't hurt them and keeps them clean. If the cat is running wild and gets no care, not even flea treatment, then there is a possibility the cat can carry a disease, but the cat would have to really run wild for that..

Then your neighbor is over reacting and unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it other than tell her the cat is well taken care of. If she still doesn't allow her children to play, well, that is her right to do that, but her children are missing out on a beautiful thing, playing with a cat or dog makes one not only more compassionate, but also it is good for our health, it lowers blood pressure and stress..

I have a cat. She has had all of her vaccinations therefore, she is not a carrier of diseases. She's also mainly an indoor cat. She only goes out when I can watch her. If you take your cat to the vet often, there shouldn't be a problem!

There are some people out there who just don't like cats. I'm sorry your neighbor feels that way :(

That's just not true. Cats are not carriers of diseases, as far as I'm aware. Cats get sick just like we do, but that doesn't mean they are disease carriers. Cat fur is not dangerous at all. If someone is allergic to cat fur or hair, they might sneeze a lot and get red, runny eyes, but the fur is most certainly not dangerous.

Hmmm, that's intersting. Cats carry disease. I've owned cats for many years. I get more love and companionship from my cats than I could ever get with most people. I've found that they actually keep me healthier than if I didn't have cats.
In all my years of owning and loving cats, I don't ever remember getting sick from any one of them. Oh yes, there are many people who have allergies. They need to stay away from animals if it will trigger an allergic reaction but to say that cats carry disease without giving any kind of explanation is just plain lazy and stupid on the part of your neighbors.
Do you want to know what I've experienced before in my life? People carry disease and they many times spread their germs to other people without showing any consideration for the other's well being. That's a crime in my book.
I remember an acquaintance of mine coming right up to my face and telling me that she had a cold. She had to put her crummy, germy face 2 inches from mine to tell me this. 'Thanks for sharing - stupid.'

It wouldn't be nearly as bad if a sick person would stay home or stay in bed and not be out spreading their illness needlessly.
That's what bothers me the most. So many of these epidemics that we hear about could easily avoided if people were more considerate.

I've had cats my whole life. I currently have 8 cats. I have had up to 20 in the house. I have never become sick from my cats. Even now, when my immune system is low from having chemotherapy, I am not sick from my cats. I also have 2 dogs in the house. They love the cats. One big dog also sleeps in bed with me and the cats. No problems.

I would not listen to these people...either they just don't like cats or are just plain ignorants!I have 2 cats...and cats like any other animal do have some diseases but usually won't affect humans it will only affect other cats! if you keep your cat healthy and give it worm tablets and flea control you should have a nice and healthy cat and if any one say other wise just ignore it!

Cat could carry diseases so does other animal and human. Though cats paly or eat mouses, it doesn't mean they all will give us sickness (it'll be danger only when the mouses they hunt down are contaminated by diseases). And I believe you take good care of your cat so don't worry too much.

Hi friend, sad to hear about this, your neighbors have wrong opinion about cats, cats are always a good pet, as you mentioned they are scolding their kid for playing with the cat, really it is ridiculous.

We also have a cat in our house but we won't let our cat go inside our house.I am afraid of cats that goes near me but it does not mean that I am not an animal lover. I care about them. I agree with your neighbor because my son got an asthma because of cat's furs. He always gets near and loves to touch them.

Cats are, on the whole, very clean animals but, like many animals, can carry diseases which are more harmful to humans than to the animal itself. As pets go, cats are generally safer to handle than dogs. Some people, however, are allergic to cat hair and suffer from a runny nose, watering eyes and even skin rash when they are near a cat. This is different, however, from any disease which the animal might be carrying.
You should not be offended if some people think it wise to prevent their children playing with your cat. It may be that their children are allergic to cat fur or it could simply be ignorance of how clean and healthy your cat is. Whatever the reason, you must respect their decision to keep their children away from your cat.

When I was a child we had outdoor cats. When I became an adult I preferred dogs.My son's talked me into letting them have some inside cats. And I did not like the cats walking on the table and the kitchen counters, around the food!My preference.I don't like the hair in my food.....ugh! Then there is my daughter that is allergic to cat dander. But,if a cat has it's shots I do not see them being carriers of disease.I would ignore them, but not allow their kids to pet my cat.

The cat you keep can save many human lives. Because cats hunt rats and kill them, over history many have been saved from the illness carried by rats. If your cat is healthy and well fed it will not be a threat to children, however all children should be taught not to mishandle any cat, the cats can becime easily fearful when treated badly and when that happens they panic to get free and can scratch or bite someone.

I don't think its really become trouble if you bring your cat to vet annually to get immunization to prevent any disease to get your cat. You had also bathe it regularly, so your cat look clean and smell nice.
So every time they complaint you cat said your cat healthy because you take it to vet regularly. I rarely see people complaining about cat here. But many of them fear dog and that's how I prove my dog not danger by regularly take it to vet and keep it clean.

Hello friends, yes, cats are carriers of diseases. They may carry a lot of bacteria ,germs and other microbes which can cause serious illness like cold, skin disease, allergies and may trigger asthma in children and adults alike. We should keep them healthy and clean. We should keep our children away from cat as they are the more susceptible to allergic reactions. Thanks & regards.....
