While in a country I like to visit the historical sites, but I also like to experience everyday life. So, I go to stores that all the locals go, to see what they buy, what they eat or drink. I like seeing history but also local customs.
What is it you like to do while in a foreign country?

Whilst in a country I like to walk around and look at the architecture. If there are historical sites in that country I adore going to see them so I can notice their detail. I like to meet the local people and find out about their culture. I am ever so keen on seeing wildlife. If I am on a tropical island I like to swim in the sea and should there be any coral I love to go snorkeling around it. I always look in the handy craft shops and markets to see if they have any costume dolls. At home I collect costume dolls from different countries. I like to buy some postcards and get a gift for my mom and my sister.

I am glad that you like it in beautiful Prague. It is one of my favorite cities in Europe. I went there in 1996. On that lovely trip I went to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. Yes, I did buy a lovely costume doll in Prague. In 1990 I got a superb costume doll in Budapest. Yes, prices have risen since those days hey.

There are some great dolls in Prague, but be ready to pay a little extra.

I love to travel. While I have not travelled out of my country yet it is definitely in my bucket list. I like to visit museums and learn about foreign culture. I want to travel to Japan, Greece, Egypt, Israel, specifically in Jerusalem, and South Africa among other places. If I could I would go everywhere. The world is a big place to see and there are a lot of things to enjoy, experience, and appreciate. For now, I travel all over my country. I make it a point to make a trip to somewhere I have never been at least once or twice a year.

That's great, too. When I travel I make sure that I experience a certain place's past and present. When given the chance, I don't only see the way locals live. I get to live the way they do, too even if it's just for a while.

I like to visit historical sites, museums and art galleries. I am interested in art and architechture, so when I visit a new place I like to look at the houses, the art galleries and the sculptures in the streets. I usually visit the most famous sites first and the rest of the time I walk around in the city and in order to feel the atmoshere of the place and experience the local culture. Like you I try to visit the places that locals visit, because I think that gives me a better picture of the country and the local culture. I visit the shops and restaurants where the locals go and I always use local transportation instead of tourist busses.

Isn't it better when you get out of the tourist path? You get lost in the streets and get a better feel of the place.

It is definately nice to get away from the usual tourist spots sometimes. I usually visit some of the famous places that I have heard about, but I also love to visit places where there are few other tourists and where I get the chance to meet the locals instead.

Same here. Well, I want to do those things if I ever get out of the states. The closest I've been to another country so far was a shop that sold foreign imported candies and soda.

I am with you Kostas, I like going and doing like the locals
do...and thats just what I did when I went to Jamaica and also
when I visited Morocco...
We met a person there that we hired as I tour guide...He took
us places we would have never seen if we had been with a tourist
group...
And in Jamaica we hung out with the locals and it was just a
wonderful experience...I love travelling....

That's why I hate groups. I made the mistake and went to Istanbul with a group. Although I was with friends and had a good time, I would still choose to plan on my own.

I would like to see their historical places, talk with the locals in order for me to know their customs and traditions. I would like to eat their foods also provided it is not too spicy. I would like to see their place of worship , if it is possible. Before leaving a certain place, I would like to buy something as a remembrance of my visit to that particular place.

Sadly, I've never had the opportunity to visit a foreign country, but my dream is to visit Italy and Scotland. I still have family in Italy, but I would love to visit Florence, and see some of the historical sites since I'm an artist. I would definitely enjoy visiting some local places, to eat and shop. And I'd love to visit Scotland, since both my and my boyfriend are part Scots (he actually has family there he hasn't seen in about 20 years or more). I'm not so sure that I'd try some of the foods (I'm scared of trying haggis!), but I'd enjoy visiting the Highlands-such beautiful countrysides.

Yes, I like to do this a lot when travelling to not only different countries, but different regions within my own country. I like to immerse myself as a local would visiting their normal everyday places as well as the tourist sites.
For me it was great when I lived in the USA in the 90's as I was working and living there as a local, not just a tourist, although it was a tourist town that I lived and worked in. But getting up in the morning, watching American morning news programs while getting ready for work, getting paid, having to do grocery shopping and banking and all the rest of it made it more of a unique experience than just simply being a tourist.

We went on a tour in the river with a guide. It was very inetersting. That's what they get paid for.

If I go abroad I will probably be going to historical sites. I also like to go to the historic and well known local traditional cold because I thought it was a very pleasant thing. Other than that I would go to the famous tourist spot in there.
