What is the best quality you've inherited from either of your parents? I think I might have inherited some of the better things about them as well as some of the bad ones too but the positive ones is what I'm more concerned with. I would say I have more patience than both of them though, although it probably doesn't seem so on this site. LOL. I have inherited some of their looks too which can either be a good or bad thing. I am hoping their health problems won't all be the same either one day, they both have diabetes. I'm kind of quiet like my dad. My mom and I both have had some of the same ideas about housework, we both hate it but I will do more of it than she thinks I do.

hello there :) if to behavioural aspect - our parents would like us to be kind, polite, respectful and any good virtues as we live everyday living dealing with people around us. they will get angry if we are being stubborn for any instance. my mother would pinch us if not listening to the values given and instructed to us. if to educational aspect - they would like us to see became successful to the field we used to chose. they said, there is no more than happiness they could felt upon seeing us all their children finished college and would have a good job. good job means good career. good career means stability of living. as to mental capabilities - we acquired it from them. i can see that they are intelligent persons and glad that we are being part of them. we inherited precious things from our parents; even not in material and money terms. thanks for the opportunity to speak about our parents. :) love it

This discussion asks us to talk about ourselves and about our parents specifically. What specific qualities did you inherit from your mother and father ? For example : I can see you are smiling and pretty :) I guess you inherited it from your parents. What else did you inherit from your parents ? Did you inherit patience or a peaceful mind from you mother ? Did you inherit technical sense from your father ? Is there anything you naturally do like one of your parents ? And we do inherit precious things from our parents. I agree with you , but , we also are not perfect and maybe we also inherit some of the bad things. Who knows :)

haha sorry if i gave misconceptions to the discussion. i see the concept of inheritance pertaining to the material like acres of lands, houses, savings in the banks and such. else is that, behavioural aspect which we inherit biologically or throughout genes or even their values teachings to us. third is the physical attributes like what you mentioned above. my mother has a beautiful hair, thick and black. we inherited it to her. but my picture shows curly and its artificially curled by a medicine and so on. then this one, intelligence, i believed they have wit and intelligence for i just can simply say so and even blessed to acquired it from them i guess all of us are hot blooded person and temperamentally type of person - we inherited this from our father because my mother is a kind person and she is a soft-spoken woman. admire here for that thanks for this opportunity

I think what I have inherited from my dad is his love for writing, reading and being an approachable person to those who are in need. The temper, too, I guess. hahahah! With my mom, hmmmm, I think the way I am bringing up my kids right now is cause of how my mom brought me up. Quite strict but not to the point of being unrealistic.

It seems you have quite alot of the good traits picked up. Some people are lucky that way and their parents have guided them into bringing them up right enough to leave a good impression on them and follow in their foot steps as far as the good things. The temper might not be so good, but hopefully it is alittle less hot headed too.

I can control my temper. It just goes out of proportion when I know that i am right and others refuse to listen to me. But most of the time, I just keep calm about it. No sense in fighting with people who have close minds, right? As for having the good traits of my parents, I would like my kids to be living in a "normal" kind of family structure. We may not be rich, but I instill in their young minds is that having a good heart will always lead to them something great.

I'm glad you can control it, it isn't even worth the trouble to get so worked up when you're mad anyways and then things lead to something out of control. You have the right attitude with your kids as well. Remember most kids immulate what they see and hear you the parents do and say so they will be alot like you in those ways when they grow up, too. My advice for that then is to now act like you'd want your kids to act when they grow up.

My dad is a chef and My mom can cook, so I am able to cook, I learned to speak Spanish because of my dad. I Think I have my mom's seriousness and my dad gave me ADHD . Both of my parents have short tempers, but enduring living with them gave me tolerance. My dad gave me brown eyes, My mom gave me a clef chin. My mom gets bored fast, so do I and my dad ambitious, so do I.

Well, it is a good thing to be bi-lingual. I wish I was multi-lingual myself. Mostly English, Spanish, French and German.

Good thing both of your parents can cook, it seems only natural then you could pick up on that from either one of them or both. So your dad is Spanish? That is awesome to know more than one language, it is proven beneficial to be bi-lingual in this world. Good for you. Short tempers are not always good but if you've learned something from it then it is a lesson learned one way or another. Ambitious and bored fast seems like you might have a tendency to try new things in whatever you do. Looks are cool to have as well, a cleft chin is always more cuter on a guy so you must be very handsome.

Many say I look like my dad. So , that's good , but I also has a young spirit like my mom does. I can enjoy many little things like flowers in bloom , the smell , fruits that grow on trees. From my dad , I also inherited the love for animals , although I was scared of dogs when I was a young boy. I also inherited from my dad some technical sense but not like he does. My mom doesn't have it at all... I inherited my mom's patience , good and positive life point of view.

That used to be the case for me long ago, I lost the cleft chin that he had as a child. My mom always thought that was good thing that I lost it haha, maybe she's right on that. But there are some women who can pull it off too. Sounds like inheriting your parents traits have done nothing but good things for you. That is amazing and I hope you continue to be successful in life.

Perhaps the industry and creativeness. That is what I inherited from my mother. A little bit of intelligence and beauty too.

What kind of industry is that, airies? Music? Tell me more. Your mother is quite an intelligent person to have you inherit that from her. Beauty is always nice to have, wow you're so lucky to have the best influences in your life. I'm sure there are more as well. Are you just being modest?

I think I got my aloofness and being introvert from my father, which for me is a good thing. We both don't like being in a crowd. I got my being resourceful and creative from my mother. They say intelligence is from the motherside.

Heehe, I got that from my dad as well. But lately i see it as a problem as some people try to take advantage of that kind of trait. So I try to be more assertive as I get older. I don't care to be in too many crowds either, and creativity is one thing I have no idea where I got it from. Neither one is very creative. My mother used to like to draw years ago I'm told though. I have never seen her draw anything though.

Well that is one of the best ways to be creative in my book. Your eldest daughter will probably excell in some kind of arts one day. Good luck to her.

Oops, by creative, I meant in finding ways to achieve things. I'm not really artistically creative. I even wonder why my eldest daughter has been showing potentials in arts.

Everyone says I am the spitting image of my mom. (Scary!) However, I guess I get my personality type and my intelligence from my dad. I just hope that I don't get any of the diseases that run through their respective families. That's really a problem because both sides are so ridden with things like high blood, diabetes on one side, and cancer on the other.

LOL @ scary. I'm probably gonna look alot like my mom when I get older, I can see it already. I don't want any inherited diseases either as they have had not only diabetes but cancer and arthritis as well. I will say a blessing for you that you don't get any of those diseases or any others as well.

I have inherited a lot of my characteristics from my dad than my mom. I have his humor and wit. I have his ability to attract people through conversation. From my mom, I have her ability to make money.

Sounds very nice, they have raised a beautiful human being, I'm glad they did all that for you. More parents should be that influencial with the good traits rather than any bad ones.
31 Aug 12
Well I can say say that I inherent a lot of things from my parents, like my mom she had a collection of old stamps. & for my dad the antique mirror from my great great grandmother.. but the best thing is, being a good & respectful to each & everyone & love God above all.

Yes, example is the way to get through to your kids as well. Talking can just be meaningless words for some, and go in one ear and out the other. You have alot of great traits I'm sure by this kind of method.

What have I inherited... I'm hoping that I haven't inherited any of the illness that have plagued both. That would be scary, but I think that I inherited my love of family from my mom... my optimism from my dad. I'm sure there are lots more, but those two I notice the most. Where my attitude came from lol... I have no idea!
