My husband told me that he wants to eat some street foods tomorrow like fish balls, kikiam, chicken feet and quial eggs but instead of buying street food outside I've decided to go market and buy some ingredients for the street food he wants to eat. I preferred to cook street foods and make own version of sweet, sour and spicy sauce which is more delicious, clean and safe to eat. I am afraid that when we eat street foods outside that we might get food-borne disease like what happened to some of my friends who got hepatitis A and diarrhea.
How about you my fellow friends? Do you like eating street foods? Do you also preferred to cook street food than buying it outside? Thank you for sharing.

That is a nice move, it will be much cheaper too when you do it by your own. In our house, I also did this, just buy the ingredients and make the sauce for it. However, sometimes, it is much fun to eat on streets.

What i haven't tried now is the chicken feet. I just hope my wife will allow me to buy and do it at home.

I appreciate your decision and feel like promoting this tendency. It is not like we eat from good hotels, the street foods (especially in these days) are low standard and the vendor's only intention is to make money and not the satisfaction of the customer or serve good food.
Keep in mind about it, I always prefer and advice my family only to prepare food at home as much possible and avoid or ignore the outside (street food) as possible. Last week as the cooking gas got over, we had to depend on the outside food for 2 days and on the 2nd day itself except me, all of us got stomach problems. So, as long as we can make good food, please go for it. Again, it won't be taste so good, but we can eat good food if we eat from home.
Regards

Hi, I think that you've done the right thing. Although I haven't got any disease from eating food outside, I can really say that they aren't that safe. I never eat street food when I was a kid, well, except for scramble and green mango on stick when I was in elementary. But those you mentioned like fish balls, quail eggs and kikiam, and this calamares I used to see on the street, no matter how I am tempted to eat them, I never tried because I am afraid that I'll get some disease from eating those. But when I met my husband, who used to have a shop near the market, he is very used to eating street food. I would always ask him if those are clean, and he would always answer yes. Though from its looks, I really doubt about its cleanliness. But I still eat. So far, from the last couple of months of doing that, I am still alive LOL But I really think that as much as possible, avoid eating outside especially those without permit to operate because we cannot guarantee that their food is safe.

Hi friend, good to hear that you planned to cook street foods for your hubby, really your decision is good, we must avoid taking food for the street shop, as it is not good for our health, we can cook the same food in our home in a hygiene manner

I am very choosy with the food I eat. I make sure it is clean and healthy. So... never would I eat street food and I am really angry if any of my family member eats street food. They are dirty and very unhealthy. Imagine the oil where they fry the fish ball, kikiam and the likes. How many times have they used that oil? That oil has been reheated and reused for so many times and that is not good at all. And also the sauce where those fish balls and kikiams are dipped. How sure are we that they are clean. Also just imagine those dusts that go on those food that are displayed on the road. Just imagine the flies that have feasted on them first. So indeed treet foods are almost always dirty so it is really not advisable to eat them. It's good to just prepare the same kind of food at home just as you did. Of course if you are the one who'd cook them you are sure they are clean and healthy than those sold outside.
Hepatitis is very likely caused by street foods and junk foods that most people love to eat so beware!

Your absolutely right 100%! I think everything that sold in the street like fish balls, kikiam, hotdogs, and etc are very dirty aside from dust there lots of insects and flies also who's carrying bacteria that can transfer to the food. Have a nice day!

yes especially if the place where they are selling is dirty. i would rather do that too like what you did but then sometimes me and hubby indulges in street foods but he takes me to places where it is not dirty..
like there is a place here where it is a bit far from the city and there is a big park, nature park and outside of it there are vendors selling street foods and you can really see it is clean, we usually go there and eat

I never eat on the streets, no matter how delicious it seems and smells. I am as scared as you are to have a disease by eating there. I can see there´s not enough health measures to meet my standards. It´s a pity: I have been to places where street foods smells like heaven.

Hi marguicha, I agree the smell of the street food are very good but also scary if you do not know if its clean or not. When I was still living in my hometown I always eat street foods because my cousin was the vendor and i know its safe but now that I am living here in the city better not to eat anymore outside because its very risky. Have a nice day!

Good idea.
Actually, I never introduced street foods to my kids.
Now that they're grown ups they seldom buy street foods (at the mall) because they are not used to it.
I also prefer to cook kikiam, squid balls for them.
Sometimes they buy quail eggs from the market or from the street vendor but I reheat the food and they made their own sauce or dips.

Hello jaiho, you made the right decision for not introducing the street food to your kids because it's not healthy and has a high risk in our health.

Ohhh I love street foods but I prefer cooking at home. Why not buy those foods in the groceries and cook at home clean and safe. You can also arrange to taste even better.

hey hats off to your thoughts. yes i too love eating street food but many a times i have been affected by diseases and i have decreased my desire to have outside food. Cooking the same outside food at your home is a very good decision and we should all follow this rule. What say?
