In the past I always thought it was so troublesome to wash the grapes. Now I learned a new method. That is you put the grapes into water and then put about two spoons of flour to inside. Mix it a little and then use the water to clean. Then it will be done. The sticky flour will bring away the dirt.

I always eat grapes from our cafeteria before, of course it was washed already so need to re-washed it. Just now, I know because of your experience. Next time when we buy some kilograms of grape I will be the one to wash it.

It is a smart way of cleaning the dirt of grapes. I would like to tell my wife about this method for her to try. The problem is that we don't usually buy flour unless we make some dumplings by ourselves. I am very happy to see junior youless growing up. Take care, youless.

I did not know there is such way of washing grape. I have not noticed the dirt on the grape before. All this time when I buy grape back home, I will just rinse it with pipe water and start eating it. I am not sure if it is clean though. Maybe I will try the new way you wash grapes. Perhaps it will be cleaner to be taken with the skin on.

Thanks for the info, it could work!!
I put them in a bowl or something else and fill with water and a little environment friendly dish soap and move them so they become clean. Then rinse very carefully.
The soap I use is LDC from gnld.com and it has been used even to clean penguins in South Africa after an oil pollution. The penguins were healthy after the cleaning, and it is OK to use the soap to clean fruits too...
The best would be to find grapes that are grown in a clean environment and don't need more than a little rinsing in cold water..

I have been picking grapes from my backyard and they sure have been quite dirty. We have been soaking grapes in bowls and certainly will try this method. It sounds a lot faster and easier.

That is something really new to me. How did you know that? Anyway thank you for sharing this tip. I love grapes and never forget to wash it though before eating. I am very careful because I know grapes do have some chemical spray so I really need to wash very carefully before eating. Next time I will try your tip to see how it will help. Thanks again.

hi youless,
this is a very new tip and i would like to try. i use to pluck the fruit from the twig, wash it in cold water and then eat. with your method, do you leave the fruits on the twig while you clean them? it would be nice to just hold on the twig up with the fruits dangling from it and eat it without worry of anything in between the fruits.

I have not thought that flour can be used as cleaning agent for grapes. Anyway I washed grapes from running water continuously directly from the faucet. Sometimes I just let it soaked for a while in a basin full of water to cleanse it. I guess it will do the same way as the flour.

Youless, i just got to know this new method of washing the grapes from you. Usually, i just rinse them with water and eat them. I will wipe them with a wet cloth if i still came across some dirt on those grapes. Maybe the next time if i want to eat grapes, i will try your method for cleaning. It is good that you share this new method here. By the way, where did you learn this new method? Very interesting...

Thats clever. I had never heard of such a method before. Whenever I have grapes at home I just put them all under running water for a few seconds and put them on a plate. Its much quicker but I'm guess less thorough than the method you described. I'll be sure to try it out some time.
