Maybe you should try and write in another language and work on your English in the meantime.

Hi brother, if there is no hard work put on your desire, there will be no way you can do it. What about attending some English classes and start from the basic? Make your sentence's structure strong enough before going to a higher level.
Wish you luck!

well of course you can, why not. Work on writing and you will be working on your english at the same time. If you have some ideas on what you would like to write - get started. Read some fiction and you will soon get the idea of the sentence structure, word order and grammar.
Go for it, Why not?

I believe you can do it! You just need people behind you cheering you on. I recommend taking a lot of English grammar and literature classes to further improve your skill. It might take time, but it's not completely impossible. I believe being on this site will help you immensely in the long run as well.

well i see that your english is not that bad and if you have idea and good content, then don't worry just write your book. Try and you will see that you can do this. Also you can write in a language which is comfortable to you and then convert it by a third person, sounds legit!!!

If you want to write fiction and have a flair for it, you would do best to write in your own language. If you then want your writing published in English, you could employ a translator to put it into good English.
Many foreign authors have published first in their own language and have then become bestsellers in English translation. First, though, it is necessary to establish a reputation and be successful in a language with which you are comfortable.

Nice idea, owllings. Of course, many writers (especially foreigners) would want to write English perfectly as not to be ridiculed by their grasp of the language. Sometimes, it is even the actual native English users who have a problem with grammar compare dot other non native English users.

you would need to take courses it is not as easy as you think even for an engish person. I have written two books and published them so I know.

Of course it is possible my friend. Constant practice can make us perfect. If you continue writing up to the certain period of time. You will notice that your english will be develop and improve. I am not a native english tongue but I continue writing so that I learn more and more everyday.

I noticed that a number of responses were very encouraging and supportive of your desire to write fiction for an English language audience. My question to you is have you written and published any fiction in your own language? Because talent is talent regardless of what language it is in and you could have your work translated quite easily.

Anything can be learned, so it is just a matter of time when you can master the language. But why must you write in English for your creative talent in being a fiction writer? It is a totally different issue - language and writing talent. You can write your stories in the language you know best and when you have really mastered the usage of English, then write it in English.

Even if it is a dream,it can be realized if you try sincerely to improve your knowledge of English.Read English newspapers and books and try to make you knowledge of English grammar perfect.Remember, impossible is impossible. It will no doubt take a long time;I mean,at least a few months depending on how much time you give to learning English, but at last success will be waiting for you. Most of us don't have a good knowledge of English, because we are not native English speakers. So what? We can learn any language.By the way,why don't you try writing in your mother tongue.Like you I also want to improve my knowledge of English, but I like to write in my mother tongue rather than in English.I would love to write in any Indian language, because they are my own languages.I can express myself better in my own languages.

I think practice makes perfect. What you should do is read, read a lot. Try to converse in English as much as you can. Correspond using the English language. You can take a writing course and try reading more grammar and English books, too.

Sure you can do it. This is why you have a proof reader when you sell your work. In fact you may now be able to find a computer program that will do most of this and your publisher will assign an Editor to finish this for you. The most important thing is a new idea plus a way to identify with your readers. I love to read novels that suck me in where I can identify with the people in the story so much that I become one of them. Blessings

I don't see any reason why you couldn't write fiction for a western audience. Books today are so poorly edited that any kind of mistake goes through, so your shouldn't be any worse than anyone else. Your discussions here on Mylot are always understandable.

In your situation I would try to divide that goal in smaller steps and find out which things I could do to achieve my goal. You could take English classes and improve your grammar and your vocabulary that way. You could also try to find a native speaker and ask him or her to help you correct your sentences. I would like to help you, but English isn't my mothertongue and I don't write perfect English, and you need someone who is native speaker. Maybe someone else on Mylot would like to help you with your grammar and your sentences? I think that it would also be a good option to write your story in your own language and pay someone to translate it for you. I am not a native speaker either and personally I would choose that option. Good luck with your story

hello tushavi,
everything is possible. writing novels thought will still require the perfect grammar and spelling. hence to improve the english would be something you have to focus on too as well.
i hope for you the best.
