At what age did you have your daughter's ears pierced?

I always wanted to know how different woman got their ears pierced and at what age and about how about what age did they let their daughters get their ears pierced. I had my eldest done when she was a year old. She rarely wore earrings though. When she had to they closed up and it hurt to do it again each time she tried to put earrings on. Now at age nine, she is asking to wear them.
My youngest is two and I haven't done so.I would like to figure out if I should wait til she is about nine and offer it as a rit of passage. I got my ears pierced at 18 I believe, I cen't remember. What have your experiences done for your family?

it all depends,mostly i would prefer at the age of 3,young and easy to pierce without any trouble.and most of them normally in my family do like that only

Thank you for the response. I did that for my eldest but she never understood the responsibility of having them and they hurt whenever she tried to get them on again. I wish I had waited for her. Now I am waiting for my youngest but want to figure out when is best. Three is just next year and I don't want her to go through pain for no reason andespecially she won't get to enjoy them now as she is too young.

i got my daughter's ears pierced when she was 3 months old. That's just how we did it in my family. I too got mine done before I was 1 years old.

I had to wait to get mine pierced when I left my mothers house as she would not allow it. She never even knew until a year later as I never really talked to her or saw her unless it was hello goodbye. I want it to be special for my daughter like a right of passage for a young lady becoming from a girl. ?What age do you recommend?

I had my ears pierced when I was 6 years old. I remember my mum and aunt brought me and my cousin to the shopping center, there were stalls offering the ear piercing service, and my cousin and I were just got the ear pierced there, and my cousin was 4 years old.
My husband has just told me recently, never bring our daughter to pierce her ears. He disagrees with the ear piercing, he thinks this is unnecessary, unless our daughter grows up until 16 or 18, and she wants to have her ears pierced.

I got mine done when I was 17 and I for my oldest done at 10months she didn't cry I remember that bcuz it was done the day before she got baptized! And Myra my three yr old I got hers done when she was only 3 months and she didn't cry either. Something about them not developing nerves in their ears...they still wear them but they loose them just like their socks and stuff!!

Hi friend, i had two little boys and pierced their ears at their first age, in my tradition we always pierce the ear of our kid at their first age, at the same time we tonsure them.

We got our daughters ears pierced when she was 7 months old. We have always had studs in and to her its normal when we have taken them out it has been to change them to a new pair which we don't do often so that she doesn't get the idea to want to play with them. My wife has had hers as long as she can remember so we are guessing hers were pierced shortly after birth. Each kid is different so you will have to make a choice based on her behavior does she touch the ears a lot.

My daughter is three years old and I haven't bothered having her ears pierced. I really wanted to have my ears pierced and asked my mom if I could have it done. She said yes and let me have my ears pierced when I was eight years old. My nieces are aged nine years old and age six years old. My sister said no to them having their ears pierced.
At secondary school we were allowed to wear gold studs only. From that age onwards at weekends I liked wearing hoop earrings. When my son was a baby he tried to grab at my long earrings. I rarely wear earrings these days.

I do not have a daughter. But I remember when I had my ears pierced. I was about 7 years old. My mom then was an office nurse in one of the government banks in our country. She told her friend doctor to pierce my earrings. Of course I was scared coz i saw how long the needle was. What my mom and some of her friends who were there was, they gave me one apple for each ear pierced so that I would not cry. I remembered crying coz of the pain. But atleast, I still got the apples as snack afterwards. hahaha!

I did not have my daughter's ears pierced, she made her own decision after she was eighteen. I had my ears pierced when I was 30 and realised that the best earrings were made for pierced ears. It is quite painful, I would not want to do this to a two year old or a nine year old, it isn't necessary. The holes close very easily even for an adult - mine closed because I started nursing training and earrings were forbidden, so I had mine done twice and the second time was more painful.

I had my ears pierced when I was 5. My mom taught me how to take very good care of them and to not bother them. I was happy when I was a kid, because I had a feeling of responsibility. Whenever you feel your child is ready and responsible then pierce their ears.
