Sometimes in life, there comes a time when everything becomes so stagnant. You wake up, go to work, go home, sleep, and the cycle repeats. Nothing new happens. It may in fact get so depressing when you feel your life becomes very dull and purposeless. When I experience such time, I try my best to make something new so that I wouldn't feel depressed. I arrange meet ups with friends whom I haven't seen for months. I buy new stuffs for the house so that I wouldn't get so bored doing daily housework when I get to use my newly bought items. I may also read a good book or read articles that may teach me something new. How about you? What do you do to add spice to your life? Have you ever experienced such moment in life when everything feels so dull?

Good to hear that you are doing something about you dullness in life sometimes. I experience that too, well, I think every normal people does. What I do is to arrange a get away every the end of the month so that I will have something to look forward to. I will be motivated in my work more, if I know that I will enjoy at the end of each month. Every weekend, I just chill or have a shake with my friends at the cafeteria. If only I'm rich, maybe I'd be traveling around in another country to explore more the beauty of this world. ;) Hope I could win the lottery. lol. Have a great day. :)

Well that's a great way to motivate yourself. Working all day without any form of reward is no fun at all. I believe that everyone should also have a life outside work to really enjoy it. Haha, me too, sometimes, I wish I could win the lottery. But for now, I could only spend a little portion of my earnings to enjoy what I've worked hard for. Regardless of the amount I allot for fun, it's better than none at all.

I felt that way, when i became a plain housewife for more than 4 years. I was bored. So i turned to reading the bible and some nice books. I somehow broke the boredom.
Now that i am working, there's never a dull moment , because i am busy at work and when i arrive home i would be exercising and watching TV and enjoying the evening with my husband.

I really have to squeeze in my exercise. My fats around the stomach is getting big, so i have to be determined and be persevering.
After office hours, i would remind my boss that the day is done so she would stop working already also. And just like me she hurries home also. . .to exercise.
We always keep laughing in our desire to eradicate those fats around the stomach.

Hmm.. and I thought that when I become a housewife, I would be happier. LOL. I guess it just depends on the person's personality or preference. You did a great job dealing with your boredom. Reading the Bible does not only break the boredom, but also feeds the soul. You must really love your job now, seems like your enjoying it a lot. And you still have time to exercise.

Wow, both you and your boss have healthy lifestyles. What kind of exercise are you doing by the way? I tried to exercise too after work but I'm too lazy to follow the routine. We have a treadmill at home but it's starting to collect dust already. For now, I'm just trying to brisk walk and climb the stairs. At least I'm trying to be physically active even for just a few minutes.

That's right, life can be so boring when it gets a routine. So we have to look for some changes. Changing some details at home, going for an excursion, start to realize some activities we never did before... life offers plenty of oportunities we should not miss.

You are right, we should try to do as much as possible in and with our live. Otherwise, I think, we wouldn't have lived.

Yes, there are still a lot of things to do and a lot of places to go. A lifetime may not even be enough to do all those things. But we should try our best to get the most out of it.

I used to wake up every morning go to work, come home, spend a little time with my son, go to bed. The next day it was the same. Then I changed it. I started to work from home instead. After a year, I got bored too. So called my friends and went out with them once in awhile.
Now i'm going to make some new changes again. Going to another country.

That's a drastic change my friend. But I think it's a change for the better. Going to another country is a great learning experience. You won't get bored there easily. There's a lot to learn in a new place. Hope you'll be able to break your boredom.

I know what you mean, seriousnuts. Having a routine life is boring, but it doesn't make me sad, especially when I'm surrounded by people I love. I think having a monotonous life makes me feel somewhat safe, so it doesn't bother me much.
To ease my boredom, I also do the things you've mentioned - meeting up friends, buying new things, doing housework. But in my opinion, having friends to talk to or meeting new people is the best way of spicing up your life.

You are right. Being with the people you truly care about is one of the most important things in life. I think I am more bothered with routine than you are, cheerfulnuts. But I feel better now having realized that I could still do something to add more spice to life.

There are a lot of celebrities who have colorful but messed up lives. I would rather have a boring life than to live their lives. You should be happy with what you've got. And besides, what could be more interesting than having me in your life? (just kidding hihi).

Life only becomes stagnant if you let it, you should always be trying something new whenever you get a chance it may be something major or particularly irrelevant it doesn't matter. It's these kind of things that makes life worth living and it will have you feeling fulfilled and you'll be able to climb even higher up life's ladder.

My depression starts when I stuck in a routine life many years ago, I was unclear what to change or how to do it to improve my situation, until now I gets better with medication and when I feel depress nowadays, I usually go shopping and treat myself a nice meal, then go home and mylot, this is my surviving method until now, it works but I don't know how long it will make me change again, life cannot be like a scheduled task but a flexible one. Agree?

I agree that life should be flexible. But there are some people who are afraid of changes, myself included. I get bored with my routine, but I am also afraid to go outside my comfort zone, so I just try to be more positive about my own situation. I make little changes rather than drastic ones. Good thing it worked for me somehow. Hope you too will find what works for you best.

I agree that life does become routine and boring at times and one has to make efforts to make it more interesting and exciting ! I travel whenever I can and that itself refreshes me, also like you I try to do something for the house. Now I am making a patch work quilt, so any free time I get I utilise it for that...also the net keeps me quite busy during the evenings all the best

I agree that travelling makes life more interesting. But I don't always have the time and resources to do so. I too keep myself busy online. Before, staying online makes me more depressed because I just go to social networking sites and play games. Since I started online writing and mylot, getting online became more fun and meaningful.

If you have feelings like these you are not aware of the fact you are living, you switch on your automaticaly pilot and don't care about life, yourself and are blind for what is going on around you.

Sometimes when I'm in that state, I feel like I'm a zombie, and I'm just going with the flow. But I realize that I should try to change my perspective. Life is very precious and I shouldn't just live being depressed like this.

only thing i can do in time of depression to redirect my mind to expect good things and try to be 100% happy with the people i am surrounded. because if i allow depression it only bring more depression

You are right. Instead of sitting down and thinking about sad things, why don't we just keep ourselves busy and enjoy the moment with our loved ones? Thinking too much could only make depression worse.

Hi friend, Every day we have same routine like wake up, brushing, bathing, dressing, going to the office, doing work, tired with work and so on. Some persons are very much bored with the regular routine and wish to have some change in their life. We have the ability to change our life, if we are interested in it.
I saw some persons want to change their routine, but they don't think about the ways to change it, why don't we think about a picnic or a local trip with our friends and office mates for a refreshment? if you are bored with your day to day activities and wish to have a break from your routine work, just plan about a two or three day trip with your friends or beloved one, surely you will get refreshment with this trip.
We forget about our worries and problems while going outing with our beloved person and we will get a lot of refreshment with this kind of trips, also we can take some photos to cherish the good moments in our trip and we can upload the photos in our social sites and share our enjoyment with our online friends, so if you want a break from your daily routine, just plan about a trip and enjoy it a lot.

I agree with you. Going out with family or friends is a good way to refresh our body and mind. I have recently tried this method, and it works well. I enjoy collecting photos from those trips. Whenever I feel sad or tired, I just look at those photos to make myself feel better.

When life becomes a routine, it becomes boring. You are already so acquainted with it day by day that it becomes so dull and you're just like running in circles. It, too, can be really depressing and realizing that you are just stuck in a stagnant world. It can cause you to realize you are not growing at all and you are limited. You have to change your routine, then. You should try things you haven't tried. Travelling to other places is a good example. You get to explore new places and new cultures. Always create many challenging firsts.

Wow,i have the same experience,at that time,i always asked myself ,who am i,why i lived in the world, blablabla. The negetive thoughts around me,what's worse,i becomed depressed all day, looked like a patient.
But now,it won't happen again.
On account of that i know what i am interested in,i understand the life's essence.
So,if i feel tired ,boring,i will do some funny things.
Such as diy some flowers, read some books, writing a novel, learn a new skill and so on,they are benefit to me,and i am happy too.

When this feeling comes, I always question about life's meaning. I also feel depressed because of all the negative thoughts that come in. But I try my best to look at the positive side. I try my best to not give in to my sadness. It's great that you know yourself very well, that you are clearly aware of your passion. Passion is what makes life meaningful.

I have the same feeling sometimes. It's like everything is routinary from the moment you wake up 'til you go to sleep at night. Life can seem so boring and you feel like there's nothing new. When I feel this, I find time to unwind and relax. Like, go on a vacation, go out with friends, and pamper myself. It helps me rejuvinate my mind and body. It removes the feeling of being burnt out from work and from stress.

Yes, we need to unwind from time to time, and break the routine sometimes. It makes a lot of difference.

I think I am in that routine right now....and for such a long time. It is not that I want but couldn't do anything about it. So I just keep bust with either being at myLot or read books.

I've been to situations like that too, where I don't feel or couldn't do anything about it. Keeping yourself busy helps shift your focus from unpleasant thoughts. I hope that you'll overcome this feeling soon.
