I have been bitten by those pesky insects alot lately! I somehow get bit when I am outside for short periods of time! I have big bite welts on my ankles and on a few on my back. I itch like crazy and Sometimes it is so bad I give in! i always forget to put on repellent on and none of those anti-itch creams work to stop the itching! Is there anything I can do to stop the itching?

You get welts where ever they bite that itch. You obviously have an allergic reaction to their bites. I would try an over the counter antihistamine. Follow the directions on the package. Might be useful to consult a doctor before doing that. I fortunately have no reaction to the bites whatsoever. Don't get me wrong I feel it when I get bit and I hate the little buggers as much as anyone else. It just ends there.
We had a mosquito problem at our home in Ontario. We were hobby farming and there was no way to eliminate all the standing water in the area. Flies were a big issue too. We got a flock of Muscovy ducks and they virtually eliminated both problems.

I think being so dry for alot of the summer and now we are getting rain on a regular basis that could of helped the mosquito problem. Other people have mentioned antihistamine, too. I am ready to try anything!

Yes it is really bad experience of getting bitten by mosquito. I have such experience of mosquito on my lower foot. I can suggest take coconut oil and apply on the bitten area you will feel better. I apply coconut oil and feel better when I get bitten by a mosquito.

You can try taking anti-histamine tablets. It will relieve you from the itchiness. Only thing is you might get drowsy later on. Seek a doctor just to be safe.

Maybe I should use some ant-histimine tablets. I doubt I would get drowsy using them. Anyway I scratched some of my bites raw because I couldn't take it anymore! gr! Next time I will do things differently!

Oh, I can so relate. I have been wondering why these "vampire" insects love biting me. It must be my blood or something. Ha. The worst part of the mosquito bites, in my case, is that I am allergic to their bite. I would itch like crazy, and after that, the bites would have little rashes around them. It is so annoying. Sometimes I just put calamine lotion or white flower (It's a kind of a chinese essential oil. It is minty and it relieves the itch).

I should try the calamine lotion or the white flower. I could not take the itching with some of my bites and I scratched them raw! Not a good thing to do! Maybe I am getting bit because of my blood type! What ever the reason I hate mosquitos!

The lotions and creams for stopping itching also do not work on me. I wash the area with soap and water, sometimes that helps. Also try dabbing on some vinegar or some disinfectant.
I burn a citronella candle on the bench behind me and I try to remember to put on repellent before I go out. I keep it lying around so that I remember.

The itching got so bad I could not ignore it anymore! I scratched some of my mosquito bites until they were raw! Oops! I will try aloe cream next time! I don't think I have been bit by a spider. I have been bitten by house flies, deer flies, horse flies and mosqutios. Been stung a few times by bees, too! Over the summer I same how was bitten in my sleep on my right arm. I had a black ring the size of a dime with a a bite mark in the middle! It didn't hurt or itched at all! Have no idea what bit me! It was weird!

Unfortunately I know the feeling. For a while mosquitoes were HORRIBLE around my house recently. You could walk outside and literally get swarmed by several mosquitoes. For some reason they especially liked targeting me as I seemed to get the brunt of it. Though the fact I have O negative blood type might have had something to do with it since I've read before mosquitoes particularly like people with that blood type.
Do you have any standing water around? My family and I did and what we ended up having to do was get rid of all the standing water such as in our bird baths and a small plastic pond we have in our back yard.
After a few days our mosquito problem got noticeably better since they had no where to breed around our home.
As for the itching, sorry I'm not sure about that.

Maybe the mosquitoes like me because I am also O negative bllod type! Where I live there is not standing water anywhere. I wonder if the recent rain has something to with the mosquitos! We were really dry for awhile. Now we are getting rain on a regular basis. That is my theory.
