Reading books and studying are my favorit hobbies. I love the smell of the paper and to touch the sides. But not only new books. I also bought already oldern ones from 1956, 1965...I love to collect them. The books written in the modern time are quite different than in the passed. Do you like to buy or to collect old books?

Hi night01wahtcher, which kind of books do you think you could be interested in? Poetry, historical ones, mistery, thriller?
Hi urbandekay, thank you for mentioning some titles, I also will have a check on those.

In the university where I am teaching mathematics, we sorted out books and placed the old ones in a stockroom. After a semester I was looking for a good math book which I have borrowed before. I could not find it anymore only to be informed by a staff member that it was placed in the stockroom. So I requested a working student to please look the book for me. She was able to find the book after two months! In math the principles will never change so why throw old books. If before a problem was about a man walking in a mountain, that can easily be reworded to a jet plane zooming in the sky! Still velocity is equal to distance over time!

I love to collect old books. There was a time that I bought an old book in math and I found out that it was the older edition of the book we were using as our textbook. So I used that (old edition) in class while my students used the new edition.

In this case it was surely very helpfull. I imagine that in some courses like math, latin and philosophy we are able to use old books which might be very helpfull and interesting. Others like history, we already would need - next to an old one - a complementary modern book to supply the missing information for the last few years.

I have some old books in my collection and one of those books is especially precious to me. It is a book that my grandmother received when she was a child, and the book is from the 1930's. The book contains several short stories for children and I find it interesting to read those stories because they teach me a lot of about the time when they were written. A lot of the things from the stories don't exist today. I also have other old books that I got from my grandmother and some of them are even older. I haven't bought any really old books in a shop, but I like to visit that shops that sell used books and if I find some old books that I find interesting I am going to buy them.

That's a really nice treasure holding such an old book from the childness of your grandma. Hopefully, I could say the same. In the meantime, I already found a bookshop close to where I am living where they sell second hand books and some of them are also very old. At least once I want to go there to get a book from that store. It's right that we still can learn a lot from those old books which don't teach us the same as new ones.

On one side you're right, books occupy a lot of space meanwhile on internet we find almost everything we need. On the other side, I still love to read books as one of my hobbies and in the oldern books we still find information, stories and ways to learn we don't find any more in the moderns ones. It's a pity that they make you sneeze. I understand that not everyone likes the smell of it.
