Shock in the morning

Lippstadt, Germany
September 8, 2012 6:30am CST
Yesterday, Friday, my husband took me to the station as usual at 5 am so I could get to work. The train had just left the station and began to pick up speed when you heard a thump and the train stopped. Someone has committed suicide. That means you got to wait for the police, the doctor, the ambulance, the fire men, investigations etc. we were on that train for over 3 hours till they provided us with another train and as it was almost 9 am by then I decided its not really worth getting to work any more and asked for the day off. Has this ever happened to you and how are situations like this handled in your country? Are there as many investigations as they are here?

It's devastating to hear the news about that, how much more to be in the very same place at the very same hour! That must be awful plus the fact that you can't go to work anymore because of the accident. Our experience in the lrt station was about a fire that broke near the other station that put a halt to the train operation. We instantly got off the train and rode a jeepney. It's already past 8pm then and we were so tired.

hi dear Melissa, others got impatient as they missed out on their flights which is understandable but I only sent that texting to my boss and asked for the day off. Fires are my scare too........

It is so heart-breaking to hear news like that. and i guess it was the only thing they know on how to end their worries. I have not been on such situation but i think it would really make me scared. This should be a lesson to us. if we have something in mind that bothers us, we must learn to open up to someone so we can somehow be relieved from the pressure.

hi dear jenny, I agree, that must be the only option that woman, by the way as old as I am, saw for herself. Right we need to open up. I was under a lot of pressure for 1,5 years but always had people to talk to (even though one of these back stabbed me close to the end of the stressful time and that was the end to that so called friendship), but I found out who my real friends, online and off line were during that stress.

Oh how dreadful for you. That would be an awful experience. I have never been in that sort of situation so I don't know what happens. However, a couple of times when going to work in the train the train broke down and the engineers would come and try and fix things while we waited and if that didn't work we would have to get down off the train and walk to the next station to catch another train. Meanwhile, anyone who didn't have a mobile phone was leant one by the station staff so they could ring their work and explain why they were late etc.

hi dear MsTickle, I never was in the situation of having to walk to the next station. The engineers get the trains to work, normally, even when the train engine decides to stop working in the middle of nowhere. I guess for you it will be worse than for me cause there are fewer stops.....

Wow , that's crazy. I take the bus to work and if there are any issues like, people get on without paying or somebody got sick or spilled stuff they stop the bus and wait for a supervisor, it's a real pain in the butt cause you have to wait for the next bus.

hi dear missybear right but hopefully it wont take long where you are to get the next bus. These three hours were a bit much to still get to work........

This is really a sad news. I do not understand people doing these things. I have never encountered this before and yes I do think that there are many investigations as well. Let us pray for this person. hope his soul is now at peace..

hi savagecabbage thanks for stopping by. I am not a person of prayer (yet???). I understand why they think its a way out of their misery whatever this misery is.

I was not on the train as it was just coming in but saw the Person jump in front of the train which was a shock so we had to wait for another Train to take us to London, the Person actually survived it which surprised me as it was still doing some speed It is horrible and must be awful for the Train driver as well

My dear, dear friend, what a "trial and tribulation" way to start the day! For which, I am truly sorry for the tense and emotional rollercoaster this would create. Sorry, dearheart, when I chose to live in the middle of the ocean, on a small Island, my only obstacles of discourse are the "deer" that I MEET, at the same hour of the morning as YOU! The only difference is that I am the ONLY one..up and about! My experience somewhat the same, as I traverse by "E-bike", very quiet except for tire noise, DEER get very confused about my travelling, and I did meet one head-on last June...SHE seemed to run away, I...laid there for a long, long time..(or so it seemed before there was traffic heading for the Ferry)! Sadly, I NEVER got to know whether I had hurt the "deer lady!" Being the only one at work at that time, I had to continue on..."wimping and limping!" I truly hope, emotionally--this will pass, precious lady! Sorry, I have not been around....TOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH WORK! BIG, BIG HUGZZZ!

That's a horrible way to start your day. This has never happened to me , thank heavens. I'm sure there would be alot of investigations if it happened here.A lady did get hit by a train not too long ago but it wasn't a sucicide.

thank you dear Antiquelady for your kind words. I felt that the investigations took too long here cause you cant do anything any more for the person who chose this way to end her life.......

oh bunnybon, I was upset cause it took me four hours total to get home again as when they let us use the other train it went to the opposite direction and I used it for two stops to the next bigger city to get me breakfast and then I took the first train home, trains were not running in either direction for these three hours so I was glad I then could get home.
