Have you been there? Have you seen it? How does it compare to other bridges? What is its impact on the transportation being the link between 2 islands- Samar and Leyte. Have you heard of its legend that its completion needs the blood of children?

Hello nicanorr, I prefer calling it San Juanico bridge, I'd rather not remember that bridge being name after a politician turned dictator. I think that is just a superstitious legend, if it were true then it should be torn down and make a new one that doesn't need the "blood of children"

Hi, Letran...! Whatever name pleases you it's okay. Easy lang, pre! Legends are make-believe stories just to enrich life. We're not crazy to torn it down just because of folktales. Of course Samar and Leyte people would not like to be hampered visiting the islands vice-versa. And just think of the cost of rebuilding it.

I was not aware that it was named as Marcos Bridge already I thought it was San Juanico Bridge before. I think those are just rumors and I think that it is an old practice that when you put a blood of an animal the bridge will be made stronger and would last longer. But using the blood of Children I do not know about that. This rumor is not only on that bridge but on so many bridges as well so I guess it would be a rumor or an urban legend going around this practice.

San Juanico and Marcos are interchangeable; they mean one and the same bridge. Here's the site where the urban legend is: www. pinoyexchange.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12173

I have never been in that place yet and I only seen the bridge in pictures. As to that legend, yes I heard of that when I was still younger.

I think it is a myth. But some elders do tell us not to play around too far from the house. Someone will going to abduct and put it under the bridge.
