there're some people buying something like small satellite, and they connect it to usb to your computer or laptop, and then when they're going to detect a wifi more far than without satellite, try to find it out, I forgotten the name of that satellite, there's small satellites.. you may also use them when you're out of town, or on your big boat

It would be best to check at CDR stores near you. I can no longer remember how it is called for it's been more than two years now. Yes. There's an antenna like that. I was able to search it in CDR King website when I was also having a problem with Wi-Fi in my boarding house. I found one, but it's already out of stock in 3 CDR stores. I can't really recall it's name. I'm still searching, but can't locate it. I know CDR king staffs know what it is called. I hope you can find the right one.

Yeah. That's what you have yo do using common sense. But I wanted a device that could get the signal to a much closer range. An antenna-like device perhaps, I don't know what it's called.

Hi
I don't think any software can do stuffs like that.. It is totally depend on hardware capacity...
But you can do few stuffs like change your position which can affect the receiving signals. I mean if you having balcony at your home than from their you will receive more signals, Signal will be better like that if you will sit near window..I don't think there are more things you can do it.

Yeah. I also wonder if it gives improvement to the captured signal. What's the use of buying it when it doesn't show improvement.

Yeah. It depends on hardware capacity. Would there be a device that could capture wifi signals at a long distance? That's what I am searching for. Something that can be attached to a laptop and wifi signals captured can be strengthen.

The only thing I know about this is to come nearer to the source. I know a device being connected to a broadband stick to receive higher signal but as to the wifi, I never heard of it yet.

Thanks for the response. I wanted to buy a broadband plug-in but it would be costly because mostly I need internet. If I would get a internet connection, it would be more expensive. That's my plan, I'll buy a device that can capture wifi signals from a distance. There is a signal here in the place but it is very weak. If it works then good but if not then I'll get a plug-in modem.

As far as I know, WiFi signals depends on the device that supplies the bandwidth, be it a router or a hub, since the configuration of the wireless channel will have to be manually embedded and configured on the graphical-user-interface of either the router or the hub. The wireless adapter on your laptop can only be configured to know which type of wireless signals it can accommodate, hence, i don't believe there is some settings on it where you can strengthen the signal that it is receiving.

So, that's what it is called. That's why I am hesitant in making a purchase. I know that there are many kinds of products out there.

You may be referring to a wireless adapter range booster, yeah, you can try connecting one to your laptop, but i would suggest that you have a professional check if your current wireless adapter can handle it since some are known to have incompatibility issues.
