Have You Tried Reading "I Accept ther Terms of Service" Before Clicking "Yes"?

Do you believe that every time you made an account, you lied? Why? Simply because you know that you haven't read the "Terms of Service" but you clicked yes just to complete the process...
What do you feel about this? And what is your reason why you find it not important to read the terms of service before completing your site registration?
If you asked me, I do not read TOS because I can't understand it, before most site TOS are not written in simple terms - but do you know that most TOS, just like facebook and twitter are already written in layman's term...
Reading the site's terms of service is of great importance! We just do not realize it now, but it's really helpful so that we can't violate any rules - one good example is myLot rules, the myLot guidelines... if all of the members would just take some time reading the TOS - there no notification for a deleted discussion I guess.
Even a 5-year old member like me receives such notice, well I have replied a topic, and my response is not good enough for software privacy! Anyway, have you read the TOS from time to time for changes or modification? I encourage you to...

you are right there mate! terms of service are unquestionably long and full of legal jardons that are hard to understand! But you know, most known sites today have released layman terms version of their TOS such as facebook and twitter and more giant networks !

They must understand that the ones that supposed to read and understand their rules, their policies are users, and most of us are not lawyers, so they need to reword it according to our level of comprehension!

Yes, I do read the TOS for every site I join. I don't always remember everything I read, but at least I know if the site has some rule I don't like then I won't join. It's like signing a document. Do you just sign anything without reading it? When I get my printer fixed I will print out mylot's TOS. That way I don't have to keep going in there to remind myself of something. If everybody would read them there would be a lot less dumb questions asked.

Very good! You are one of the good examples here mate! It is really necessary to read the site TOS before completing the sign up process to prevent some troubles! The perfect example here is myLot, most newbies do not know on what to do, they post yes or no question, they promote links and the likes. We know that they are innocents, but it's not an excuse here because TOS are there before they have completed the registration! MyLot assumed that they have read it, it's users obligations to understand the TOS! Thanks for sharing!

No, I don't read this term. Since no matter I don't have another choice. If I want to join this website, I should accept to their terms. If you disagree to it, then you are unable to join the website. So I don't want to read those long and boring terms.
I love China

Hello youless, but let me asked you, have you read myLot TOS? Anyway, unquestionably though I assumed you haven't read it, but you prefer others experiences and you've learnt from it! But for me, it is till necessary to read the TOS yourself, to clarify some issue and the likes but I respect your opinion mate!

Today I read the TOS every time, but I must admit that I haven't always done that. I started doing it because I almost got in trouble once. I wanted to buy a game and I thought that I just going to buy ONE game, but then I discovered that it was written in the TOS that I would receive a new game every month I was not the least bit interested in that, so I immediately delete my information instead of submitting it. Since that time I have been afraid that I would miss important information if I don't read the TOS, so I always read them

You are right there mate! It's really important to read and check those. How if you have overlooked it? Then you will keep on receiving new games and pays it? Because they would assumed that the TOS is valid and binding, and you cannot have an excuse...

Don't worry, I guess after facebook and twitter released their simplified Terms of Use, other websites and companies would copy their strategy too. The TOS must be made public, but how can they implement it well if most the users find it hard to read and understand. Most TOS contains legal jargons, and if we don't take law courses, we are not really familiar of most words and legal terms use, that's why facebook have rewritten their TOS to meet our level of comprehension, and anyway, for sure myLot TOS is not that hard, have you checked it already? It's very important mates!

I normally try to read the first few lines.then i skip the steps. as i believe if the software or signup is free of cost then there will be minimum chances of any danger.

Initially even I never read any terms of conditions of any software. earlier I used to use pirated softwares, so never bothered about reading them. But now a days, I only use genuine ones, so I do take the pain of reading most parts of them to know if there are any hidden traps/clauses in them.

That's true, specially if you joined money making programs, here in myLot as well, to avoid violations! And most TOS now are simplified, so we can understand it easily just like at facebook and twitter, they have reworded it for the sake of their users!

I never sign up or register anywhere without reading the Terms of Service (along with the Privacy Policy). Not reading the Terms of Service, I believe, would be a foolish thing to do. You never know what might be in those terms. Also, one should be aware of the fact that you are basically binding yourself to whatever the Terms of Service contains, and if you are not aware of what you shouldn't do, you can not complain about the consequences. After all, it was your mistake for signing up without reading. It's a good practice in general, anywhere in life, to always read before you sign. Especially when it concerns contracts for anything, your bank account, your PayPal account, etc.
I do agree that a lot of terms used in Terms of Service pages are hard to understand for the general public, though.

Hello Mate! You are one of the good examples of my responders here! And it is true that the law excuses no one! One's we have checked I accept the terms of services, they we agree to bind ourselves to whatever agreement and condition set in their TOS, but how if we don't checked it? It's not excusable! For our own good, like what you said, when it deals about money or important information, better and recommended to read the terms of use! Thanks for the nice idea here!
