Since I have been working online for quite some time now I have made several friends and colleagues from all over the world. I was just thinking that we interact daily by emails and chat messages to coordinate the work, yet we are so very far away from each other. We have got to know each other thanks to the Internet as otherwise we would never have talked! So I was thinking how nice it could be if we could meet in person someday! Obviously it is practically a dream that can hardly ever happen. But it just occured to me how nice it could be. Have you ever thought about meeting with people you got to know online?

All I need is a room and plane ticket and I'll be right there! I'm ready to go to the beach!

All there is in between is money Maybe someday I will win a lottery or find a treasure chest and the problem would be solved!

Same here. I play a multimatch ticket each week - minimum jackpot prize is half a million. Usually it's worth far more by the time someone wins. As soon as I win, I'll let you know. The minute I read about where you live I knew I had to go there. The beaches are like a magnet to me. Hey - start hitting those beaches! You just might find that treasure chest! Of course, if I win, I need to know your name at that point so I can call you something when I arrive, rather than, "Hey - yo!"

yes, I do :) Have an idea to travel the world (not in 80 days! LOL) and meet all friends around the world. But you know what? This is probably a crazy dream :(

Of course it is still different if we're given the chance to meet them in person. Actually I have met few mylotters in person. The latest mylotter that I've met in person lives 140 miles from my place. Me and another mylotter travelled 2 hours to met another mylotter in person and that's a great experience.

The first time that I really got involved with an online community was when I was pregnant with my son, Paul. Well after our babies were about six months old, I had the opportunity to meet a couple of the mothers that I had been corresponding with in person. It was a great opportunity to me, but we really didn't maintain a relationship outside the computer. However, since then I have become friends with a lot of people online and I would love to have the opportunity to get to know them in real life. The people that I would love to meet outside of the computer the most are actually the numerous friends that I've made through digital scrapbooking because we really do have a lot in common in real life.

I have met a few people I've gotten to know online. A friend and I who used to moderate a forum - about a decade or more ago - opened our own for a short time. She lives in upstate N.Y. and I live in Maryland. We've met up a few times in Atlantic city - in between both of us - several times over the years. I met someone across the states, on the West Coast - in Oregon - through a utube video of a cat she rescued. We started emailing each other. two and a half years ago I flew to Oregon and stayed with her for a week. On my way home at the crossover stop in Chicago, another online "cat" friend, Keith - met me there. He brought along his cat, Charlie, who I first "met" over utube. Charlie was on a harness and leash and utterly adorable! I have cousins who I met online and have yet to meet in person - second cousins, actually. One lives in New Mexico. Another, Tennessee. It would be wonderful to meet them sometime, too.

I just noticed your new profile photo! Quite attractive! By the way, a writer on Gather has a photo of HER eye as her profile picture. We always make jokes about Tracy's "eye" - as if she is just that...eye.

Of course,I often think of such proposition, but know that it is unlikely to happen. We are miles away from each other and it would be only a miracle if we ever come across each other on some occasion.Would you believe me if I tell you that one of my friends in Mylot lives just 90 kms from me and we have never seen each other. We both have invited each other, but neither of us has time to leave our homes and workplaces.

good day grkelly, with reference to your topic, same as you are, i am also looking forward to meet personally those friends i met online. wherein, i will be more grateful if i will be given a chance to meet them and chat with them face to face. although there are times, i am thinking, meeting personally those people i met online is quite impossible since we are living in every sides of the world. but, we can never tell, sometimes, you are really destined to meet to each other.

The internet does take that personal touch out of the equation. Meeting in person, going to a luncheon, chatting on the phone are replaced by emails, text messages and comments. It would be nice to have a gathering of all associates that you work with online. Some organizations do that on an annual basis. The problem is it is usually at their home base and not everyone can afford to attend. But it is nice to know about and hope one day you can meet up with them at the yearly gala. I have met a few, and I mean a few people I have worked with and have been associated with online in person. It takes a lot of time to build up the right relationship of trust to do this. There are two people on myLot that I talk with from time to time that I have known online for years and have worked with through writing on many different sites. We hope to be able to visit each other one day but it is hard since we are very far apart. We do communicate though emails, hand written letters and cards in the mail as well as phone calls on a personal level. It is nice to have them as friends even from afar!

I certainly did think about it... but it seems so pointless. I don't know where anyone comes from. Where are you from? US? I'm from South Africa... but I think you know that already.

hi there... somehow, idea like that comes in my mind. but not as clear for now because met friends in here alright, but established strong bonds, i cannot consider have it yet in this stage. but who knows in the future. well, as you said, internet is here and we can connect them and contact with them too, of course. yes, agree with you, if being given good chances, it can be done in the future. :) best wishes

Of course I wanna meet them! Wouldn't it be fun if wherever you go you have a friend to meet up and have some fun with? It is really a big advantage when travelling to a certain place for the first time and you know someone who's been there forever to show you the best that place has to offer. Of course like you said it would take lots of time and money and effort to even visit a few of them much less all of them.
