I was offered the job

I applied for a new job about a month ago and finally got called in today. They offered me the job and want me to start tomorrow. This is something I know I would enjoy, but the money isn't that great. About 2 hours after I got home I received a call from another place that wants me to come in for an interview tomorrow. I scheduled it so it didn't conflict with the one I got today so that is not the problem. The 2nd job would be better pay and benefits, but I am not sure I would like it as well as the other one. What would you do if you were in my position?

Hi, cattibre.....If it weren't for the state of the economy today, I would say to go with the job you think you'd enjoy the most. But times have changed and I think it comes down to being more practical. I would go for the one that paid the most now. Especially with the benefits package. So many employers are trying to just hire part time so they don't have to offer benefits. If you can get those, I would grab at it.
As far as 'liking' a job....it's just a job. You will not be spending the major part of your time there. I once made the mistake of tying myself up in a job to the extent to where it became who I thought I was. When I lost it, I thought my life was over. Not so....it was just a job.

Personally I think the Best thing would be decide what is Best for you. I know personally for me many times it has to be the Job with the benefits as I do have a lot of Health issues otherwise the better pay would have been ideal. So in reality I guess your Best bet is to weigh your options out, go to your other interview, and then decide from there. And if you believe in Prayer, pray about it and God will show you what you need to do as well.

I hope the interview went well.
Right now, I'd go with the job at the company that seems the most stable and where your skill set would be the most in demand. In the economy we're in now, it's important to have steady work.

Depends on what I want to do, the career path I'm building.
A huge salary doesn't always mean a fun job, but it could be. :)
When you go to the office, take a feel of the place and see if you can bear with it. If you can then good.
I'm a person who would choose environment over pay. So during interviews, I usually ask what the culture is like in the office.

Work where you would be more happy to work in. And than in a long run if they are satisfied of the way you work they will give you a raise for your efforts. You are lucky to find work. My husband is working in at a job that he hates ( call center) and tell you a man that doesn't like is work is not fun. So enjoy your work where you think you are going to be happy.

We'll I guess you should weigh things right. Try to listen to what your mind and your heart dictates. It's not about lots of money to gain but I guess you should try to know if this job or the other would make you happy. It would be a very vital decision that you would make since your life will be there everyday after accepting it.For me, if you love your job everything would become easy and you would love working everyday even if job problems will slowly arise. Good luck anyway!

If you are not after the money, then choose the one you are comfortable with. If you love what you are doing that would do good in your career. Others make a lot of complaints maybe because they have chosen the jobs that offer them higher salaries and more benefits. Eventually, they will realize that they are not happy with their jobs. When making a decision, think about it carefully. Consider the pros and cons then follow your heart. Choose what you really like and not other's like for you. Happy mylotting.

If you think the second job offers a higher salary and more benefits then I will surely go for it.
That's the reason why people look/search for work- to have a good living.
So, salary may comes first and then work hard for a good record.

I think what you may do is to tell the first one to postpone your first day to next day. Then tomorrow you have time to interview the second job and balance this two job. Whether they are fit for you. lol, finding a nice job do not need to rush and congrats to you.

Well that is hard to decide however, I see that you are still scheduled for interview for the 2nd job. If you really needed money so much then go for the 2nd job and for an enjoyable work, go for the one that you think makes you happy. Follow what your heart will say.

Most of us, would basically consider the salary as the first consideration in choosing a job. But of course you have your own judging over matters and we cannot dictate you on what to do. First, if the job that you want can sustain you in your daily living, then go for it. Anyway, if you are still young, this can serve as your experience. But then, if you think that the salary is not enough, try considering the other offer. Work can be learned but of course if the job is not really within your line of specialization, most likely, you will get bored and would leave the job.

I would choose the one with better pay and benefits, I'm just being practical. I don't want to make it seem as if I am just all about money, but then that's the main reason why I work in the first place for financial reasons. I will just have to be creative so I will be enjoying my job. If not, there's always life after work.
