I was informed here by an officemate that we have our Christmas Break just like what the school is doing. Like after Christmas party then we are going to have the Christmas break from December 23 to January 2 or it depends as well to the date. If that is the case I was totally glad about it because at least I can rest and do other activities. Unlike in other companies they are still obliged to go at work right after Christmas Day. Meaning they still have work on December 26 to 29 since December 30 is holiday in our country, then on January 2 after New Year.
What about you do you have Christmas Break? if you have then what are you doing during those times? Are you travelling or do your sidelines?

No I work somewhere where it would be impossible to be closed over Christmas break like this. I work as a dispatcher for yellow cab and there is no way that they could close for any time like this. It would be nice to work for somewhere that has time off like this only to be able to have more time to relax and spend with my husband.

Wow that is cool on what state do you work as dispatcher of Yellow Cab? Because here in our country people often called that kind of transportation as Taxi or a cab but not yellow cab because if you say yellow cab that is automatically a Pizza.
I hope whenever there is holiday you are still being paid as double pay right?

There were times when I worked at retail Holiday seasons would be the busiest and I did not get any break... I did not really mind it then as I was young and I could use the double over time or holiday pays... For the last 10 years or so, I always take my vacation during the Holiday seasons as I can combine it with the Christmas break I get from work to make it a really long vacation...

I'm selfemployed but because I work with students, they are all on break for about 2 weeks in December so I have a break then too. It's nice to recharge and spend time with family and friends.

Good thing you can still have your break and have time with other people while others can't even give time for family because they are obliged to work.

Oh, good for you!For us at work,we still go to work on the 24th.Our only holiday is on Christmas Day.Unfortunately that day lands on Tuesday this year.Definitely,I won't spend Christmas with my husband and son.We don't follow our country's holidays because we are dealing with foreign clients.I hope 31st will be our holiday.I don't wanna go back to work on that day because transportation is so difficult that day. Many people are rushing to go home to spend New Year with their family.Enjoy your long holiday.:)

Yeheey! Christmas is just around the corner now. In our place when our calendar month ends in ber... you can hear Christmas songs from radio stations and many Christmas decors are now on display in stores and in malls. Everybody is excited especially school children for the coming Christmas vacation. Young and old are happy in this season because they could be together in the merriment as well as the traditional Simbang gabi to offer to the child Jesus and the plentiful foods being shared. Every year in our place my family would give Christmas party to the less fortunate children. Christmas Break is our chance employees to have full time in the family to prepare like decorating the house, cook food and buying gifts for all members of the family , friends and especially the godchildren who would come to claim their gifts every Christmas. Advance Merry Christmas to you.....

Meta, as for my country here, we only have a day for Christmas holiday, that's on 25th every year. Those who are interested to have a long break, need to apply leave for it. And it is always depending on the company whether to approve that leave or not. When i was still working, i am never able to take any long leave. The most longest leave i am able to take at that time is only 3 days. Only now, i am taking a long break from work and i enjoy it.

Whoaa!!! There are really companies that needs to apply for leave. I could imagine as well that it is better to go at work during holidays or even after to avoid the traffic here in our place which is Manila.

Unfortunately, our company doesn't have Christmas breaks. I do hope we do because I really have a lot of things to do during those time and I also wish to take a break from everything. We don't practice this kind of break because our company operates 24/7. I don't like not having breaks like normal jobs do but on the other hand, the pay is good during these holidays, so I can still enjoy it somehow.

When I was working at a previous job, I had to request a time off well ahead in advance. Work and any kind of business still continue even a calendar day after Christmas. There may not be more people at work in some countries since they honor Christmas celebration.
Enjoy your time off.

Well, I think we still have to come to the office after Christmas. As long as the government would not declare a day as holiday, we still have to go to work. But personally, I have a several forced leave not yet used, perhaps I have to use it during those time.
However, if those days would be a free day, then I would certainly devote more time for my family. My online job is always there so I can check it from time to time.

I know it is usual for the companies to file a leave which is 5 times a year. So most likely they have chosen the December which is normal so that they can spend time for other people and families. Usually December is designated as well for the family reunions.

Wow good thing you are lucky enough to have that kind of break even if you are living in China. By the way do you have any idea about love pay? That is given during December.

I think everyone deserves to have a Christmas break. Christmas is a very well celebrated occasion for most of us. Almost in every country, Christmas is very special where we see those colorful and bright lights everywhere, where we anticipate gifts from our loved ones, where families and friends are joined together to celebrate, and where we enjoy Christ's birthday. So, why miss it because you have to work you way off? I know most have work on those holidays, but still manage to celebrate the day. Good for you though you'll be able to rest and enjoy the holidays with your families and friends. You get to have a plan with your free schedule. For me and my family, every Christmas we share it together. We usually celebrate the holidays out of town. My father is very fond of travelling together with the whole family. Last Christmas, we had visited Hong Kong. It was amazing. May you also have a wonderful Christmas this year. :)

The Christmas break that I am talking about is not the holiday itself but like a 1 week vacation then you will go back to your work after the New Year. The only advantage of working during that day is that of course you will be having double pay.
