Let me share this topic with a BIG SMILE. Most of us, we call our partner or ex-partner with endearing name. You know what I mean. What are the common endearing names? Hmmm... Honey, sweety, sweet, babe, babes, baby, dear, honey bunch, cup cake, darling, munchkin, etc; others will just call the first name or nickname of their partner. The endearing names mentioned were a common usage. How about the younger generation? Some of them, used names of anime? Correct me if I'm wrong. Another thing, some couples were so furious to ask the endearing names of their ex-partners. The reason, not to remember the past relationships they had. The sweet nothings, as they said. At this point of time, I can't help it, giggling on my chair c",). Let me pass on to you these rhetorical questions: What endearing names do you like? Do you call your partner in a unique name? What does your partner call you?

Hmm.. We had a lot of endearments but surprisingly I can't remember them all now. I can only remember "be" short for baby or babe. I can also remember, my sweet baby. My endearment to him when we used to exchange text messages when we were single. I called him that and when I ended my text messages I wrote "your sweet baby." The last one I can remember is "hon."We call each other "hon" now.Short term for honey.I haven't asked him about his endearments to his ex-gfs.You reminded me so I will ask him soon. ;)

I also had that BIG SMILE while reading your post.
My husband and I call one another as "LOVE". It just flowed in naturally when we were still in College.

Nothing unique here. I call my husband "Dear", and he calls me "Hon".

Most of the time when I am not around, my husband will call me Woman, but when I am around it is typically Babe that he will call me. When it comes to what I refer to him as, it is typically Babe or Baby, although there are times that I will refer to him as Hon or Honey.
Now, I will also admit that I am sometimes guilty of still using terms of endearment when I am talking to my ex. I will sometimes refer to him as Babe, but more typically, I will instead refer to him as Dear.

Good evening Shavkat,
I call my husband honey, or babe. He calls me honey always. We actually rarley call one another by their name. We of course refer to each other by name when we are talkig to other people. And when I am talking to others online I call him hubs.

My partner calls me honey or baby we don't really have nicknames for each other. We only been together for a year and a half and never really thought of nicknames for one another. I think nicknames our old and it's for the younger kids to use not us older ones although I do know some older couples that still do it. I just like to be differen't and not like all other people.

Me and my girlfriend call each other "YAM", short for "You And Me".
I like it because of a certain novel i have read about during my courting period. I introduced it to her and I'm glad she likes it. Now, every time i heard her saying it, I grow more in love with her each day.
Sometimes we call each other "my love" but then again we prefer to call each other "YAM".

I've never heard of using anime names as pet names, but hey, whatever suits the person, I suppose! As for getting uncomfortable because some pet names bring up past relationships, I dated just two people before meeting my husband, and he only dated one and for only a few weeks. We shared most experiences with only one another, so that cuts out any of that sadness of comparing partners with anything, including pet names.
"Honey Buns" is our biggest nickname for one another. I call my husband "Dork" a lot, and he calls me "Gorgeous Pie." We have a bad habit of having to rhyme with many of our nicknames...for example, one of his for me is "Sexy Wexy," and I took his name and rolled it into a teasing rhyme with "Dim Tim."
We have dozens more, but over the course of our relationship we've stuck with what works best, and that's honey buns.

when younger my hair was red. and that was what my husband called me . and still does sometimes..and sometimes honey. I call him honey sometimes but mostly darling...
when we do not answer by those names the first names come out ..usually if it is important or with a disapoinement the first name and middle name is spoken and then it could be serious...LOL..

I cant say any of my exs and me made of names like that. I proabbly would punch them in the face if they did. I find it ridiculous, those I know who do that are those who need to be in a relationship, and have nothing otherwise. One girl I went to college with would make oup nicknames of her boyfriend she was dating for a week. I could see such things as honey, darling, or dear which general and not only used in relationships.

I've been known to call my wife 'pups' and 'monkey'.The trouble is that this sometimes, unintentionally, extends to social/public situations and scenarios! So the, well intentioned, terms of endearments often become the catalysts for World War 3!

Hehe... At first i call my boyfriend "gang" a short name for palangga in our dialect which means love in english, but soon after i call him honey, so we call each other now honey, because i like to hear it and say it, it's just so sweet like honey. And now that were married for almost 3 yrs, our 2 yr old daughter would sometimes call us honey if we do not pay attention in her first to 2 nd call ma and pa...

Well sometimes those names are cute but especially when they
are done within your home but sometimes you don't want your
pet name exposed to the public...So if it a habit, its bound
to accidently slip out in public and could cause embrassment.
I like to be call by my name so that type of incident will not
happen....

"My baby" is what I usually call my wife. She calls me also that way. Becasue she is my one and only baby for now, for we are planning to have kids, so I could call my kids, my baby also. That was the only endearing name I use to my wife. We enjoy it, because we treat ourselves like kids when we are together, pampering it is. It really adds to the sweetness of things when i use that name. Thanks

I like having endearment names with my partner. It makes me feel secure that he's mind and I'm his. It's also sweet to hear every time he calls me. Right now, my guy right now calls me "mommy" and I call him "daddy". I don't really remember how this came but I think it was because of having the idea of a family in the future..I also had used before endearments like Baby, GA, My, and Best. Endearments usually come out of nowhere in our relationship, we make it up in an instant that relates to how we treat each other.

I go with the classics usually if I'm calling my girlfriend and endearing name. I say either dear or if I'm feeling more playful then baby. When I'm referring to her name I don't say Tatum but Taymen, its sort of like her nickname. Tatum is saved for either serious conversations or when we get into fights.
