Rain rain please go away students want to learn!
I am stranded in our house our streets are like rivers now, this is the thing I don't like here, what is the problem if rain falls flood is next as usual, I hate this, I can't go to school on time!
What do you think is the problem/reason why some places in Manila or any places easily flooded? =(

I think because the waterways in Manila is alreay clogged not only by trash or grabage but with the residents especially the river near the Manila bay where the water flows. Furthermore, the rains coming from the higher areas makes Manila as the catch basin of the water.

Yeah, that's why they lessen the usage of plastic bags instead of plastic bags they use of paper bag, I don't think this will be effective because it is also depend to the people, because sometimes people are lazy in proper waste disposal. I appreciated your respond have a great day! :)

Right, whether plastic or papers, being responsible in using such packaging materials is a must. Papers just decomposed fasater compared to plastics but using plenty of it and throwing it in always as garbage, it will still have the same effect.

Hi RSantos026,
Usually if it is rainy most of the days in a year you won't enjoy. But if it rains on some days and if it is floddy you would enjoy atleast a little. It will be tough to go to school on time but if it is a holiday, it must be really a nice experience watching though the windows starring at the road with lots of people on the road.
I usually enjoy during rain but only when at home..
Have a great peaceful rainy days always.

Good thing in our street where I live there is no river anymore because it was newly construct that make the cement higher. But here in our compound as usual there is always an Olympic size swimming pool. But then I think my parents has their plan to make the cement higher since the streets outside our compound is higher now. So if there is heavy rain at least we can still walk unlike before that it is really hard to walk. Where do you live in Manila by the way? No wonder why Manila is easily flooded just because of the drainage that are being blocked from this trashed. It is the irresponsibility of other people that they are stubborn enough that they keep on throwing garbage anywhere. Then in the end if something happen like this they will blame the government. What a facepalm!

Yeah but we shouldn't blame the government all the time. We must still do something to avoid this. In my case I am living in Pasay City. When I saw the flood outside it reminds me of Ondoy, then it was also Saturday morning when that thing happened.

I am not really victim of Ondoy since we are all safe here in our house and the flood is just at least didn't reach the half of our house but just above the knee. I don't know how many were affected by the flood yesterday here in Pasay City but at least the improvement of the streets are advantage now. Even if there is no typhoon there is always flood before when the rain occurs.

Haha, I'm glad that your streets were fixed but if your compound is having big swimming pool in heavy rain fall, then It's still a big problem!
I'm staying in Quezon City. I agree to you, one of the main problem of flooding is the irresponsibility of other people also the laziness and stupidity. And of course our currupt goverment! .

When I read your first sentence, I laughed as it reminds me of a children's song" rain rain go away, come again another day...", it rhymes like in the song.
I can see you are a good student, as I know if it rains that hard the students around me will be happy as they don't need to go to school.
And I think the government should take some measures to deal with the rainwater, maybe the drainage system is not in good condition.
Hope you can get out of your house soon.

Hehe, have a nice day, too, friend. Your English is enough here. I can understand it well. It's really bad that the school didn't inform the students about the suspension of class in advance. Here in my living place, students will get a message if there is some notification at school.

Our main problem here is the drainage system. Not only that our rivers and canals are clogged but many of our esteros are gone. So if your place is near a river or big canals if rain falls surely rivers will flow on your street because those canals and rivers can not accomodate this sudden rush of waters so an overflow will ensue.

Congratulations! Didn't know rivers could grow on streets! just kidding.
It's really annoying when you need to go somewhere and you couldn't get out of your house because of the flood. Main reason why? Clogged drainage or no proper drainage at all. We must admit to ourselves that we were not actually disciplined enough to throw our trash at the trash bin. We are so fond of throwing it anywhere. That was the habit that caused this drainage to clog and owing to the government, they don't clean this drainage up nor do they do something to fix those. The money that's supposed to be used to fix those were pocketed already.

LOL you really made me laugh! Yeah the primary reason why this happen is lack of discipline, and some thieves in the government. Sad to say but we really have the corrupt government, not all but few. I appreciated the respond, :) have a nice day!

I think it's because of those clogged drainage systems. And what clogs them are the trash that the people just blatantly throw anywhere specially on the road and the rivers.
However, here also in our city we do experience the same. Continuous rain would already flood the main thoroughfares. That's why whenever it continuously rain, the governor have to suspend the classes in elementary and high school for fear that the children will be caught in the flood.

Yes in our town a big river is there and you are right if rain is more then for going school problem is created. No say the reason of flood that God's policy.

Do not have a proper drainage system, or if there is, it has clog on it because of irresponsible people who do not know how to love and take care of the earth where they are living and they throw their garbage anywhere, even just as little as a candy wrapper can make clog how much more those plastic bags of the department stores or whatever garbage human beings produce...

Yeah the rain is quite heavy and hard this morning that could somehow cause floods in some areas again just what you are experiencing as of the moment.
Usual, waste disposal again maybe the drainage system in some areas that cause the water so stagnant.

Yeah, you are right sometimes I encountered a person eating when he was done he only just left his paper plate in the table even though trash can is near to him. Laziness & stupidity. Have a nice day ahead! :)

There are many such places in world that gets flooded with water in rainy season. That is truth of a developing or third world country and also you can see same case in developed world but with some other causal factor behind it. Like the Katrina devastates much she shore land of northern Americas. It is predominantly occurs where there is no proper facilities and amenities are available to face such situations. I think there is need of proper planning and testing before constructing a city. This helps the city in many ways like it does not get flooded in rainy season, it will have a more effective municipality and it can easily cope with any incidence of disaster.
