I really want to sleep since this afternoon but when i close my eyes i kept on moving on the bed and my mind is still active. I tried everything like drinking warm milk, warm bath, read and watch TV but still nothing works. I hope i can get some sleep even for a few hours so that i can able to go out with my husband this afternoon but for the meantime i will participate here in mylot until i feel sleepy.

Does this happen to you a lot? If so it will be worth going to see a doctor as there could be an underlying cause. If this is the first time then its probably one of those things. So relax and enjoy your time.

Have you considered taking melatonin or two diphenhydramine capsules? Granted, they would help when you're trying to get a regular night's sleep, but they are a good option. Also, if you have a smartphone you can download a brainwaves app that you can listen to as you shut your eyes. It kind of "massages" your brain. Anyway, good luck!

That's so amazing that you haven't slept for such a long time. I can't stay up at night for long hours. If you are sleepless, perhaps you can try a new method. There are some Apps that can be helpful to fall asleep soon. It broadcast the natural mild sound such as the water, wave, rain drops and so on. It may be easier for you to sleep. I tried it by myself and it works well for me.
I love China

Bhebe, the worse situation where i am unable to sleep is that i am only sleepless for a day. I never have a sleepless night like yours. I think you must be overstress yourself until your mind unsettled yet. Try to make yourself more relax by listening to music. Or maybe you should find something interesting for reading. It is another good form of relaxing and at the same time making your mind tired and have a good sleep.

Wow, what happened?
I am also a late sleeper and suffers from insomnia most of the time, but to keep awake for 49 hours
Well, maybe you really need to have some jog- but not too much exercise, just to make you tired more and maybe then you might fall asleep.
When I am still working in a call center, I drink a glass of lukewarm milk and eat banana- it's really helpful.
Maybe you can try it at once.

May be you can try reading some boring book. But whatever it is, you have to find sleep somehow. Otherwise you will body get used to it and you will find hard to sleep. but this actually surprises me that somebody has not slept for more than 48 hours. What surprises me even more is the fact that you still do not feel like sleeping. have you take some red bull or something that your energy levels are still high. One suggestion I can give you is you try listening to some soft music.I hope this can bring in some sleep to you. Anyways try to have proper food. Otherwise your body will get very week. Do take good care and have a tight sleep.

When I was depressed, I could not sleep for the entire week and if I do sleep its just 2-3 hours everyday, but now I can sleep much because my problems have been settled and I always pray to God to give me a good night sleep.

There are lots of things that you can do if you can't get to sleep, and it sounds as though you've already tried a lot of them! What is probably the wrong thing to do would be to try and go to sleep in the middle of the day, as this would mean that your body would be out of sync from the way that it should be. You should try to go to bed at the normal time that you would, and just relax for a couple of hours before you try to go to sleep. You could try reading or listening to some slow music. I wouldn't recommend television though as you might find that this wakes you up.

Good day GemmaR, During that day i tried to lay down and close my eyes for a few hours but still can't able to sleep, maybe because my mind was very active and lots of ideas and worries came and goes. Anyway, now i do not have any problem in sleeping and hoping it will never happen to me again. Thank you for sharing! Have a great day!

Is that some sort of sickness if you can't sleep, like insomnia. Psychologically, you just can't let go of something, which prevent you from getting any sleep at all? That is how I described things, maybe I am wrong. Anyway, I hope that you can find a way to get yourself sleepy again. Try one of those sleeping pill, they might be helpful, although I won't recommend you to be addicted to those pills. That just a stopgap, and it might help you get back in track. I was quite on the opposite, I was tired, and I want more sleep on my daily basis.

I was late for this response but I still give my suggestions in case you will encounter the same situation again.
Drinking warm milk does not guarantee to get sleep but make your sleep better since it adds warmth to your body which makes you awake. According to some experts, making your body temperature increase makes you awake, so better make your body cold to feel sleepy.
Rubbing your ears downward can also help you make sleep, that is according to natural medicine.

You can stay awake for long periods of time as long as you energize with food and be low energy output. I have had to do this when I gave birth and I was nursing 24/7. I had to let my eldest chlid make messes and be a little more lax with chores and rules so I wouldnt argue with her to keep my energy low. It usually is something keeping me awake I must be responsible for like my children. I usually must stay awake now that my toddler is older than two when she is sick. Before she used to sleep alot now I wish she would take a nap. Hope you sleep some. As long as you give yourself the chance to catch up you should be fine physically.

If this lack of sleep continues I suggest you take a different kind of action. All those things you list are very passive, what you need is some fresh air and action. Try and include a brisk walk and some physical exercise into your day. Reading and watching TV keeps your mind active so it is not an encouragement to sleep. You could try a little honey in the milk too - just in case the problem is hunger.

Is this a common problem that you have not being able to sleep? There is a limit to how long you can actually go without sleep before it becomes medically dangerous, but long before that, and long before 49 hours, it is very unhealthy to go without sleep for such a long period of time. You really need to look at your life and try to work out what is wrong so that you are unable to sleep. Do you need to cut something out of your diet - like caffeine or cut down on sugar perhaps. Or is there a stress or something in your life that is causing you to be unable to relax and let your mind switch off. Usually being unable to sleep is a sign that you are dissatisfied or concerned with something in your life. You need to resolve it and move on!

Hey bhebelen,
If you having too much problem in sleeping why don't you take a sleeping pill, or this method, get on bed with your feet with cold water but don't dry them up,try to sleep but only get on bed for 20 minutes, repeat the procedure after every 2 hours, there will be a time in a day when start feeling sleepy, get up again and then after 2 hours go to bed you will definatley fall asleep.
you can also listen to your songs and imagi=ening something but think too hard you will fall asleep.
hope you can sleep soon:), take some from me i have been sleeping for 18 hoursstill i am sleepy.:(
