Halloween 2012, have your children decided what they want to be?

We actually hadn't even started thinking about Halloween yet this year. However, Kathryn went to her grandparent's house over the weekend and started picking out some things for her Halloween costume this year. She has decided that she is going to be a rock star and came home with a cool wig and all of the makeup that she is going to be using. Then she also bought a goblin mask for Paul and he has said that he wants to be a white goblin for Halloween. The best thing about these costume ideas is that I'm not going to have to spend a lot of money on junk to be their Halloween costumes. How about your children, have they decided what they want to dress up as this year? Are you looking forward to Halloween?

I've thought about Halloween but haven't picked and outfit yet for either of the kids. I'm sure my daughter would love to some kind of princess. Last year she was a fairy because she loves Tinkerbell. My son I don't know what he'll be yet. I haven't really looked yet. I'm going to go to a used store and buy it second handed. I don't like the prices of some Halloween costumes that they have.

As selfish as it sounds, that is one of the things that I actually miss about my children being smaller. I loved it when I was able to pick out their Halloween costumes because I was always able to find a great costume that didn't cost a great deal of money.

Oh yes it's fun right now picking the costumes out. My mom always helped me pick out mine even when I was younger.

After last year's halloween, the kids (including their cousin) decided that they are going to be Harry Potter characters. But like most of their plans, they've already forgotten about it. They don't even know that Halloween's just around the corner! I'm sure we'd be rushing to go and find costumes as soon as it is near. Hopefully not HP characters!

Kathryn is in a huge hurry to get to Salvation Army to find some clothes that we will be able to transform into her rock star costume. We were there over the weekend and she was so upset that I wouldn't get the clothes for her then, I said we would go on a Wednesday (half-price day) and she thought that meant that we would be going this Wednesday.

My grand twins bought masks whilst they were here in the U.K. but nt costumes. I will be with them as I am leaving for home next week so will join in the preparation. At the moment, I have n o idea what they will be. I think that your daughter will look great as a rock star and it was kind of her to think of her brother I do hope that they enjoy themselves. Do you go with them when they trick or treat?

I absolutely love going with the children when they go trick or treating. We've always gone over to my mother's neighborhood where I grew up so that we can go trick or treating and we will typically go with my brother, sister-in-law and my nieces as well. The kids get a kick out of the fact that they get to go trick or treating with their cousins.

We LOVE Halloween! My kids (even the little one) seem to think about Halloween right after the last Halloween ends - ha ha. They picked out what they wanted to be months ago! My daughter wanted to be Pikachu (from Pokemon) and my son wants to be Wall-E. Well, after just thinking how I was going to make my daughter's costume (because I refuse to pay all that money for a pre-made costume), she changed her mind last week and she now wants to be Perry the Platypus (from Phineas and Ferb). So this weekend while I was out shopping, I found these Perry pajamas that would be perfect (on sale at JCPenney for $8). And all I'd have to do is make an orange felt platypus tail and get a secret agent had at some dollar store. Now I have to figure out how I'm going to make that Wall-E costume!!!!!!

Wow, coming up with a way to make a Wall-E costume is probably not going to be something that is really easy. I know that this is a random aside, but you know my son was really into Wall-E when he was three years old as well. In fact, for his 4th birthday party he demanded that we have a Wall-E cake for him.

I had hoped that we would be able to make costumes this year. But, we aren't going to have to design them from the ground up. For example with Kathryn wanting to be a rock star we are going to try to find some old jeans and rip them up some and then find a rock and roll type of tee shirt and cut the slits in the back of it and stuff. We really are going to have fun with it.

I don't have children, but my nephews were so excited. They do want to wear a dracula costumes. I like Halloween, the family will reunite and visit our ancestors tomb.

Dracula costumes are definitely one of those time honored costumes. I don't think that there is ever a holiday season that goes by where there are not a lot of children that are dressed up in dracula costumes.

Last year my husband and I went to a Halloween party with my best girlfriend and her boyfriend. We chose to not dress up but my best friend and her boyfriend did dress up. This year, she is planning on using the same costume that she used last year (and for good reason because the costume did cost her over $100 total).

I love Halloween! It is so fun to see the kids dress up and the unique costumes people come up with. This year my sons are going to be zombies, my oldest daughter is going to a party dressing up as ahippie, my 6 year old wants to be a princess and my baby will be piglet. I agree that it can be so expensive buying costumes so I am so glad that this year it will be cheap and I can use stuff from around the house. For my sons we have decided to use their old clothes and shred them up then just use makeup to make them look like zombies. My daughters will use the clothes we have here also and the only thing I need to get is a fake crown at the dollar store. My oldest has some tye dyed shirts so we will use that a bandana and some costume jewelery like feathers and such. My baby is using an old costume. It is always better when I can make the costumes. I tell my kids it isn't what you are dressed as and how expensive your costume is it is about having fun.
