What makes you give up on a game?

I've been playing this computer game for about a month. I've gotten further than I ever have before, but now I'm stuck on one board. I can't get past it no matter how hard I try. It's really discouraging. I think if I can't get past it soon I might give up on the game.
I've had other games before that were so easy they got boring, or others that just seemed pointless after awhile, so I'd give up on them also.
What causes you to give up playing a game you like?

My DIL tried to interest me in computer games the month that I was in bed after surgery. I honestly could not understand why I would want to be angry at birds - whatever I had no interest at all. It must be a generation gap thingy - I don't know. Like Antiquelady, the only game I play is solitaire

Its so annoying when you get stuck on one part of a game that you just can't get past no matter how hard you try.I know games that are too easy can be boring but I find games that are too difficult even worse.I find escort missions are the ones that I get stuck on as the person i'm supposed to protect usually ends up getting killed.I like the games where if you keep dying at the same point it gives you the option to skip to the next checkpoint.Though you are penalized in terms of completion.

The only time I gibe up on a game is if I just can't beat it no matter what I do. Most of the time, I can finish my games that I play.

Try looking at it from a different angle if you're REALLY stuck. And I don't mean hang upside down.... ;) Just try a different approach because maybe you are going about it all wrong.
If I'm ever stuck, I just stop, turn it off and go back to it a few hours later feeling refreshed! Can I ask what game you are/were stuck on?

I generally don't ever give up on a game if I really enjoy it however, if I find myself without enough free time to play it then I stop playing for awhile but I wouldn't really consider that giving up. I'd probably give up playing a game if I was constantly running into errors within the game, too much lag, or continuing to have problems signing into the game.

It depends on the time. Since I don't have more spare time to play the games, so finally I have to give it up. Otherwise it seems I am wasting the time and I will feel guilty. And another reason is the game is too difficult to complete. For example, sometimes I feel so frustrated to play Angry Birds. I feel upset that I can't pass it even if I try it many times

I never give up. I may purposely choose a lower level to get through a board and then choose back up. Sometimes you have to play the level several times to figure out the 'trick' to getting through it. I've also had to go online and check 'cheat sheets' to get through. But I don't really give up.

When I play a game, and I get stuck, I start looking at how much time I spend on the game. Unlike a game where I'd be good and I'm winning, the time just flies by. When I can't get on to the next level, I'd realize that I should be spending that time on doing something else. And then I'd realize I'm wasting my time.
It's a way of giving up!

I can tell you, that as a video game major in college, I take this kind of immersion very seriously. For me, it's if the game is too easy. That is one thing that will have me lose interest in a second. Another thing, is if I do not cater to the UI or User Interface, of the game. I like action. I loved the missions I went on with CJ in GTA San andreas, I can't wait for the next GTA game to come out! I am very intrigued by the environments as well. Resident Evil 4 had some of the best game environments around. So I need to have something to explore. Silent Hill gave us a frightening scenario along with puzzles. So all that being said, the thing that will have me give up on a game, if that game is linear in nature, just going from A to B and fighting inbetween. I want some kind of challenge. Just enough challenge to have me thinking about it all day, just waiting to get home and finish it! Gaming is awesome, and it's so very important to strike up that balance!

The very same thing that your discussion is about. Although I to enjoy playing challenging games I don't like when I am stuck on one level that I just can't complete no matter how much I try. In the past I would just give up on the game altogether, but now what I do is I stop playing for a while then I go back to it from time to time until finally my patience pays off & I complete the level & then move onto the next. Try that. It might help if you just take a break from it for a while.
