I made a mini library in my house, to keep all the books that I read. You can do it, too.

You have got a great hobby I can see. I have also a mini library that I actually last updated a long time ago. Being extremely nowadays I do not often browse the books, journals, etc. I have always been a great reader anyway.

Before, I like to buy books that I like and I do think that it will be very nice to keep many books and meanwhile all you like best. The same occured to me too. Some of them I keep in the bookshelf forever and never touch it any more. The reason I think is that I am not younger as before and I have to deal with a lot of things. When I have free time, I just want to have a good rest.

It depend of the kind of book it is. Some of them, I never will give up, others, I try to sell them for a small amount as second hand books and just others, I simply give them away to someone I know he or she would like to read them too, and after this person can do the same. In the passed, I also gave several books to a public library, so many people have got the choice to read those books.

I still have books from my childhood, even books my granddad bought (so written in old dutch). A part (fairy tales, children books etc) I gave to my eldest daughter. A part my youngest are reading. A part is in my house in Hungary (everybody is reading them) the rest is here. I don't like to throw books away. I could sell them at a second hand shop but don't do that. I don't buy books anymore (although I was fanatic for years) I have enough books (and stuff), I can borrow now from other people or re-read what I have if I am bored (which I never am).

Keep a library of old books that you own. Classic books are valuable reading materials. These books do not age with years. Colleges and University make classic books a mandatory reading material in their subjects.
Old books like Pride and Prejudice, To Kill a Mockingbird, Romeo and Juliet, Wuthering Heights, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Sense and Sensibility, Frankenstein, The Scarlet Letter, The Count of Monte Cristo, Dracula, Hamlet, Les Misérables, and similar titles are treasure trove. If you own any of these books, please do not sell or give it away. Make it a family heirloom.

Hi. Just like you. I will not let the famous classical books such as Pride and Prejudice go. I will keep them and will pass them down to my child. What i don't know how to deal with is those ordinary books where there are some good articles .

Keep the titles you feel a connection to and donate the others to your local library.

It depends on what kind of book I come across. There are some books I've had for years that I read as a young adult, and I still have them. I don't keep every book that I've ever bought and read. Sometimes, I get rid of them if I haven't read them time over again. There have been a few books that I've bought, and couldn't even finish because I didn't like it at all.

It depends on the book; if it's fiction and a favorite, I keep it. If it doesn't mean anything to me anymore I will give it away or donate it. If it isn't fiction and it's not obsolete, I keep it, unless it is no longer useful to me.

Most of the time after I have read a book I will give it to someone else. There are a few books that I keep, but I don't have room to keep many. I have a bookcase that is almost full and I usually get at least one book as a Christmas gift. I collect certain books and get them for presents, but I don't know what I will do when the bookcase is full.

Normally, I keep all my books in my bookshelf.
If I really intend to give up certain books, I shall donate them to the local library so that, other people may have a chance to read them.
When those books do not have the donation value or keeping value, I shall send for recycling.
Due to the constraint in our living space, you must make up your mind to keep only those books that you really want. This is what I am doing all of the while.

I will keep it and make a blog from it. And also after writing about that book, I will donate it to other charities. There is no need to be selfish if the book is old enough. More people should need to gain knowledge while reading.

The books I bought a long time ago I still have. I have 2 boxes upnorth where I use to live in storage.I never re read a book unless I have no book to read. When I get the 2 boxes of books down here with me I am going to be posting them on craigslist to sell them.

Hi! I remember when I moved and I knew that space was going to be tight I went through the books I had accumulated. Some of what I had went over the same material so I figured keep three of whatever and if the author hasn't really gotten my attention in 5 chapters, chances are he wouldn't. If I had an author that covered the same material but caught my interest right away---I'd keep the second.
For me this worked and I've been using it for other things that accumulate over the years such as clothes and CD's; do I have enough of the same thing that I can afford to let a few go? Does the music interest me as it did then and if not, who could use it?
Happy sorting!

I think books we bought and read are defining us. Those can tell much about what we like, what we hope for, how we think, what we are connected to and some more.
So, books like this, I try to keep for a long time as much as I can.
I wish I was reading them more often, but I don't...
I feel like I have to read them from the beginning to the end. So, it feels like a hard task.
Generally, we better develop our reading habit more. I have some books I wanted to read, but, I still didn't finish them. Maybe they are boring me, but, it is a good challenge.

You can sell them online. There's a site called bookscouter.com. I think you look up the ISBN# and get the value. There are other sites too. One of them you don't have to worry about the S&H. Might be bookscouter, not sure. It's difficult to get rid of books. A lot of people have a hard time giving them up. I have tons of books but I'm keeping them. I have a book printed in 1897. It's gazetteer. A really big book. Anyway, if you need the money go online and see what you can get for your books.
