Did either you or your children take a SAT or PSAT Prep class? I never did and I really wish I had, I felt completely unprepared when I took the SATs. My daughter is taking a prep class this weekend for both tests. She will be there for 6 hours which she is not thrilled about but I think it will help her tremendously. Do you think you or your child was helped by this type of class or do you wish you or your child had taken a prep class?

When I was young I took the PSAT tests and they were required. Now I believe you can opt out of your children taking them. My children do take them in school though. I think it starts with the third grade. I do know a few parents who are totally against the schools having the PSAT testing done in the schools.

Both my sons took an SAT Prep class. We had one offered through our park district. It wasn't cheap, but I definitely think it was worth it. They seemed very well prepared when they went to take the test and they didn't seem to have that test anxiety that comes from not knowing what to expect. They also received study material which we made them spend 15 minutes a day studying until they took the test.

I took the PSAT, and the Psych PSAT, I wish I had taken a prep class, I studied on my own but I did not know as much as I thought I did.

I never had a prep class that was done by a private company. The first time I took the SAT I hadn't done anything, I just went in and took the test. Then, the following semester at school one of my classes was an SAT prep class. I didn't feel that it helped me that much, it just helped my vocab a bit. About halfway during the class I took my SAT for the second time. My friend took a prep course and her parents paid good money for it and it didn't really do much to help her out.
