love poems

Have you ever written a romantic poem to your beloved? If so, how did he take it, was he pleased, embarrassed or gob smacked? Robbie Burns wrote a well loved poem 'my love is like a red red rose' which must have delighted some Scottish lass. More classically Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote 'How do I love thee, let me count the ways' so it appears that both men and women have put pen to paper in this way. Hav you ever received a love poem? How did you react to it? I have one such poem tucked into my Memories Box which I have never been able to throw away, it was so romantic. I married the poet!

Hi comb! Actually, when I was in high school I've done some editorial articles but I was not able to write a poem for someone. I really appreciate those who can do this. I am glad to know that you married a very romantic person. Have a nice day!

I started by reading other peoples, I highly recommend it because the day will come when your heart will want to put feelings into words.

You married the poet? Wow, how romantic your love life was. How everything started. I love writing notes to my love ones, somethings, I'm not aware that I'm already creating a poem. I like surprises, that's why I make it ap oint that I'm always making new ones, just like this, writing poems. It was yeasr ago, I started writing those for just school stuff but now, it is more personal, I dedicate it to a real person, to my wife. Good luck to all of us.

I sent my then wife to be a love poem electronically, which I guess is a tad less romantic than on paper all the best, urban

I'm sorry she is your 'then' wife and I agree that electronically is not the best way to do it. Next time the situation arises go buy a really nice card and put your next love poem inside that. This might produce eventually a 'now' wife! Good luck.

I did, yes I've wrote a poem to someone I love. He did appreciate it and I am so grateful that he did. Until now I am still writing love poems and most of it are dedicated to the one I love. He is my inspiration and my critic as well

I'm no poet, but I remember taking a stab at it. But that was when I was so young and (naive) idealistic. I think it was for an unrequited love. And to fulfill its destiny of being an unrequited poem, I remember nothing coming out of it.

Never mind bounce, sadness has prompted many an unrequited love poem. I must add that one 'stab' is not enough and another attempt by your older less idealistic self might be the beginning of a new genre for you.

Why yes I have and it was years ago. I just felt that he should be reminded why I love him and not so much that it's taken for granted. He was pleased and to me it almost made him have a skip in his step the rest of the day. I often write him love-like letters at Christmas, Valentine's Day and his birthday to remind him of his place in my heart. I thought he would think it too mushy or corny but he was fine with it. To answer your second question- no. I have not received a love poem. My significant other isn't much on expression. He does tell me what he loves about me but not in such a lyrical way. I wouldn't be disappointed if he did write me one though. You are so fortunate to have a romantic to be married to!

There are lots of ways to say 'I love you', and it sounds to me as though you are doing fine. Thanks for sharing.
