The biggest budget is on education!

I really wasn't tuned in to the news last night, but did I hear it right when the report said the biggest budget was allotted to the Department of Education? Yipppeeeee! I knew it, this administration will know that the best investment is on the most important natural resource: the children. Our youth has got to be educated first before we can proceed with all the grand plans of beautifying this country. If not, then all projects will be to naught. Then the Department of Health launched something like providing the schoolchildren wash rooms where they are supposed to learn how to clean their hands every time. Ha ha, we can also take that to mean that our people must stay clean, in all the endeavors in life. Way to go!

Wow, that is indeed good news eileen. At least now, the poor people are assured that their children can have the chance to be educated until college, with the least of expenses. By that, poor people will be able to rise in their status of life.

The least I am hoping is that the poor would learn decency first, so they could five dignity in their beings and in their lives. Through education, they will realize that it is better to alleviate their plights than just enduring the squatters without proper sanitation. The children will now know their difference from the rats.

That's true eileen. Dignity could be alleviated if they can be educated. There are lots of public schools to enroll their children, even in the province. What i am wondering though, is why do they have to transfer to Manila and squat, when at the province they can plant and be self sufficient.

Really? Wow, I'm really happy to know this. My husband and I both agree and believe that the government should and must invest in the youth and their education. It may be cliche, but the youth, indeed, are the future of our country.

I believe that also, and I had been up these past years telling children to make their lives better. Let us all support the children, through and through.

I hate to be cynical and a joy buster, but I hope someone(s) will be keeping an eye on the money, here in the u.s. administrators in some places have been throwing parties and the like, funneling way too much of the money for education into the pockets of government workers and educators, with cadillac retirement and health benefits, etc. Some were even retiring, getting hired back at another post (at the same place) and drawing full retirement, full wages, and full 2nd retirement, health, etc benefit packages piling up, all of it from taxpayer's pockets.. Then if any one tries to trim it back or have a way to retire bad teachers, they practically riot! And the media paints them as heroes and claim those concerned are trying to rob the children! It's very frustrating.

flowerchilde, I am surprised by this, I have always thought that the public schools in America are well funded by the government. Your schools look so neat and clean on tv, and I would not know that there are abusive teachers who did take advantage of the funds. Sigh.

I think it is mandated under the constitution that education must be given the priority amongst other branches in the government. But sad to say that despite that sometimes Deped is the one that looks neglected and not given the proper budget. I hope with this the budget would be used properly since there is always the tendency that the department that has the biggest budget is the one that would be prone to corruption.

The head of the department is a brother from La Salle. I say, the funds are in good hands.

Though I'm a little bit optimistic about the government, I too is a bit scared on how will the government spend that education budget to help the entire nation. Though there are many changes right now being implemented by the Aquino administration, there are still many of us who are doubtful that the the present government will really live to its promise. It is because, the old politicians were still there. Those that have been intrigue in different corruption charges are still here. And those who were charged with graft and corruption were never put into justice. Crimes are getting higher, health problem like dengue are at its highest, and other problems that still lurking around. If education would be one of the key to our country's development, then they should see to it the the budget is put into its good use and not to any politician's pocket. We still have hope and dream of a better future for our children.

Keep your optimism up, Fulltank,. a new wave is coming. See the discipline that is making its way on key places? That is a beginning. Our people are learning, and or children are liking it. Hey, a 13 year old Filipino homeless boy won the Peace Prize for children. See, our children want decent lives, and they would do everything in their power to make their lives better.

But I am not impressed because as you can see, some public schools do not have the right number of classrooms. There are more students than having classrooms. I think our government should provide first the needs of the students in learning. However, the action of the government is great and we will wait for the outcome in the future.

Am sure that as of this writing, more classrooms are being constructed. The elementary school fifty meters from my place is sporting a new building now, and boy, it is made of good materials, ha ha.

Hope they will use it wisely and not will go to private wallet which are common to our country. Millions of pesos wasted every year from ERA to pork barrel of different politicians but the situation still worst. No changes after period of promising about the improvement of our lifestyles. It's because the budget are corrupted by our leaders.

Yes indeed! DepEd has the highest approved budget for 2013. Our department is on the fourth. Well, I think it's just right that the government give importance on the education aspect.

That's good news. I do hope that this budget gets appropriated and utilzed properly. My mom is a public school teacher and we can see how the higher ups tend to exploit the plight of the kids and even make a big fuss of putting the budget for better learning environment, but the paperwork doesn't match with what the eyes can see. Anyway, we still have high hopes for this because it seems the current administration isn't as bad as his predecessors. In the budget aspect of governance, that is.

True, not only the schools lacking in classrooms and toilets, but there must be laboratories and computer rooms, and libraries filled with books and newspapers and magazines. The public high school near my place conduct lessons under a tree, and their programs over a makeshift stage right on top of a creek. I feel not onlu for the chi;den but to the teachers who sacrifice so much.
